The destruction of Pagan’s temples was caused by a combination of factors, that is Mongols invasions, neglect after the dynasty’s fall and natural disasters especially earthquake and the time passage. The Mongols’ invasion primarily intended to political domination rather than the destruction of religious monuments. It was include as a factor. The 1975 earthquake was the single most destructive factor significantly damaging over 2000 temples and structures in Pagan causing wide spread and immediate destruction.
