Todoroki relationship with his parents remind me of so many toxic stories I've heard. The family was toxic when the kid were younger but the kids primarily connected with the mom. Even though the mom could be more toxic the kids make excuses for her and still hate the dad when the dad is doing his best to be in there life.

as for someone who use to grow up in the same as dabi, all he wanted to feel accepted by his father and not feel like a failure to him. and feeling like and no one noticed that he was falling into a deep depression saids a lot about it cause while he was trying to vent, dabi at that moment was trying to find someone to talk to as normal kid with a lot suppressed and pint up anger, cause he was already close to saying, " fuck it, what's the point of living if no one is gonna here me out". and at that point he felt like it was pointless cause one enji was the one who told him that he was able to surpass all might, and then having it taking away just to show favoritism can high key make a person snap. and no I'm not saying that was rite for damn near taking out shoto or killing 30+ people, but however if enji wasn't so obsessed with creating the " perfect" child or got damn all might and have a whole ass conversation with him and rei right next to him they should've just asked him how was feeling mentally like every other normal parent do then they wouldn't have created this "monster" who was neglected to being with. like all he wanted to be loved and appreciated, not feeling discarded.

A reveal doesn't need to be a surprise to be good. A good reveal should be one that you could have predicted. I don't think ice and fire = water make more sense unless we have information that explains that the ice they use is produced from water, and when you look at the series, that is *not* the case. It's ice created by freezing the air and surrounding moisture.

The first time I read Dabi's backstory I instantly didn't find him very sympathetic and complained on how he wants revenge on the rest of the family besides Endeavour, despite the rest not being abusive (after watching your video I got convinced that Rei is mostly to blame, but that is not what I thought back then). I expressed my thoughts on Dabi on the KZbin comment section, but after some being guilt tripped by Dabi fans, I stopped blaming him for wanting to murder his baby brother, though I still thought he is mostly responsible for his actions as an adult. However, no matter how much me or others insisted that Dabi's reason for burning himself and attacking baby Shoto, something didn't seem right. Finally, I gave up trying to think of Dabi's actions as understandable. Sure, it was scummy of Endeavour to try to conceive a child with particular abilities to make them his successor and he was the who make Touya want to become a hero, so it's understandable Touya would be pissed. However, it is not understandable he would be this pissed. Right after Endeavour told Touya to stop trying becoming a hero, which as you said, it was nicely, the boy was still obsessed with trying to become a hero, even though it was burning him. The ones who claim Endeavour was neglectful towards Touya, not really. Sure, he spent a lot of time at his job as a hero, but it's hard work that saves lives. It's not like Endeavour ever brought Toyua with him to the job while he was training Touya to become a hero. Sure, it is also important to spend time with your family, but he came home every evening, we see him interact with Touya. The most he did was tell Touya to give up being a hero, because it would clearly destroy him, but that's is what Touya has been obsessed with. It is more important to keep your child save than to play with them or do other free time activities. As for Touya not feeling love, Endeavour has been nothing than gentle when talking to Touya about his issue. He told Touya time and time again he cares about his well being more than about having a successor and every time Touya hurt himself, Endeavour would scold him for it. Like what was Touya expecting, if the 50th he uses his quirk his dad gets mad, the 51st time he does, his dad would be proud? There is a difference between being a stubborn kid and a delusional maniac. Granted, Touya needed counseling, but Rei is just as guilty as Endeavour in that regard. At least Endeavour employed someone to help and tried to keep Shoto away from Dabi to keep him safe. To those who say Endeavour should've made Dabi do a different activity, he already told Touya to live his life. You are supposed to let kids choose their own passion, it's not like Dabi asked for guidance in that regard, he still wanted to be a hero, even though he knew it was burning him and his entire family repeatedly and calmly told him to stop. Is Endeavour blameless? Absolutely not. Should he had done more? Sure, but he wasn't nearly as abusive or neglectful as people make him out to be. The Dabi fans are not the only ones to blame for me sympathizing too much for Dabi, I was the one to believe them without thinking more first. Also, I totally agree that Rei is mostly to blame and while she wasn't mentally stable when she burnt Shoto, it really makes no sense why Shoto had contempt for his father but not his mother as well.

Honestly Fuyumi might just be the best character in this whole series, literally right after Dabi was considered "dead" and her mom was sent away by her dad. She took responsibility as the eldest sibling and took care of her brothers and father, she learned how to cook and clean just for them. And she held no grudge against Endeavor and was the only one who saw that he was trying to change for the better.

@@dragonempress8367 Sure, but not all crimes are equal. The moment Endeavour realized Touya was getting burns he went to a professional and gently told Dabi to stop. Touya wasn't in denial about the burns, nobody was harsh on him, nobody neglected him right away, Endeavour didn't show him love just during training, yet he felt like he had to keep training to impress his father from the moment he heard he shouldn't rtain because he gets burnt. Sure, children aren't always rational, but no normal kid would feel like they have to put themselves in danger to get their parents' love if their parents never did anything to give them that impression. Endeavour did eventually conceive other children in hopes of getting a successor, but Dabi acted like a maniac way before he had even remote evidence his father was trying to make a successor and right before Endeavour became neglectful. It's like showing Lord Ozai like a good or at least decent person, show Zuko like a normal kid who Ozai gladly trains at firebending, then Zuko starts getting burns and Ozai calmly tells him to stop hurting himself, but Zuko continues despite of this because he wants his father's approval, even though Ozai loved him unconditionally. The Azula gets born and is better at firebending at doesn't get burns and because of this Ozai trains with her, so Zuko tries to burn Azula, but Ozai puts them apart because of this. Add Ursula acting way more neglectful, have her blame Ozai for most of it and maybe even have her hurt Azula somehow and you pretty much butchered some of the greatest villains from television and one of the most interesting families from television. I am not saying MHA had to be more like Avatar, besides being better written.

My gripe with Dabi's character is that the writer LITERALLY used Dabi as a scapegoat for the reason why Shoto hated his father [Besides the fake "Abuse" his mother went through] Dabi was perfect as his own character but nope. We can't have that. Villain have to be RELATED to a PRO HERO even though there are a ton of people who have a quirk that allows them to control fire. Another thing? People need to stop defending Rei when she clearly knew what she was doing. That's like me beating up my dog and expect it to forgive me when the dog clearly knew what I did and why I did it. I honestly feel bad for the rep Enji Todoroki has been getting. Like man cannot catch a break.

I'm just gonna say that the Mishima family from Tekken isn't as terrible as the Todoroki family as Kazuya has a good reason to hate Heihachi and Jin has a good reason to hate Kazuya. Also unlike Shoto, both Kazuya and Jin bother to do something about their family issues, what they do isn't good, but hey, at least they're trying and not bitching.

It wasn’t Touya's fault, Endeavor threw him away as garbage because he has a quirk defect and he had more children to replace the one with a congenital defect which was caused by Endeavor playing god. Touya became unstable and as the abusive parents he has, they didn’t do anything about it, well they blamed Touya, as the troublemaker in the family how Touya dared to try get attention and love, how he dared to disrupt the family dynamic, how he dared and didn't accept quietly that he wasn't loved by his father and his placed as a failed projet in the family, how he dared called Rei out for her lack of actions.

He preferred Todoroki, because of the fact he also had an ice quirk, so it wouldn't damage him as much. Endeavor was actually trying to prevent Dabi from being damaged or even worse, maimed or mutilated. But, I want to listen to your opinion more too. Yeah, I agree with you on most things on this video but I have respectfully disagree with one thing. I think you're being way too unfair with the amount the blame the parents share. If anything it's an even 50/50 at least. For one thing, the only thing Endeavor seemed to have taught Touya was how to flame on & punch things, nothing else that a dad would teach his son & when Touya was burning himself he didn't try to sit him down & have a heart-to-heart, Father-Son talk about why they have to stop training & maybe promise him that he'll get some support gear to help mitigate the side effects of Touya's quirk so they can continue training but only if Touya doesn't continue to train by himself & give his son a hug afterwards, maybe all this could've been avoided. Instead he passes the job to Rei, keeps running off to his job & keeps having kids cause he didn't wanna have that talk. And it's not like Endeavor's a office worker whose boss would get on his ass if he was late, HE'S THE BOSS OF HIS OWN HERO AGENCY! You're telling me he couldn't have called one of his many sidekicks like Burnin' to tell em to hold down the fort cause he'd be running a bit late or he's leaving early due to a "family emergency" so he can talk to Touya? He deserves way more than a measly 5% cause the way I see it, if he had the time to clap Rei cheeks three more times, he definitely had the time to be a dad to Touya. As for Rei, I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt with burning Shoto since the story made it seemed like she was an unfortunate victim of domestic abuse after she was forced to marry him but after this... Nah, she was a WILLING ACCOMPLICE from the very start. Not only was she okay with going into a quirk marriage to create a super soldier, which is not only taboo but possibly illegal, but she ACTIVELY ENCOURAGED him to continue with said taboo & possibly illegal activity it after Touya and as a result went nuts after everything started spiraling out of control and she tried to keep it in the house cause let's be real, if Touya was sent to a therapist & he started talking, someone would've called Child Services, the kids would've been taken away & the press, not to mention the villains, would've had a field day talking about these two if word got out... Which doesn't matter since their son, who's now a wanted terrorist, told the entire country anyway. Honestly, Im a bit mixed on the reveal cause afterwards, it makes Shoto & Natsuo hypocrites in hindsight, Rei an accomplice in all this, & all that hate we had for Endeavor for years was unjustified when the plot makes it sound like the only bad thing he did was get parenting advice from Goku.

Although you do have to wonder why dabi was so obsessed with this idea of him being born for a particular reason yeah ypu could say endevour drilled it in him but from the flash back with dabi it shows that he wasn't as obsessed as he was with Todoroki....... I feel like we missed an opportunity with the drama with her messing up Todoroki's face.... I understand the number 1 hero thing but why does he hate all might did they work on case together and all might got all the credit even though endevour probably put in all the work... We're always told that all might put an end to organized crime but organized crime is a complicated and difficult thing to solve especially for all might he is not smart enough to be able to solve it and put an end to it...... So my theory is that endevour put an end to most of the organized crime in Japan but was unable to beat the big boss villian so he went to all might asking for help and after that was done the media credited all might with the win instead of endevour who put in the work, despite being deserving of the number 1 spot the media couldn't accept him that's why he hates all might that's why he married Rei and brought all these kids in the world.... And it plays well with the general theme of MHA that we live in a society

But because of his obsession with All might he refused to do that. I really thought that endevour is the blame for all of this (100% but its 60-70% in actuality) but after reading the manga and whatching youre video it opened up my eyes that Rei is the cause of all of the shit that has been happening , why the hell did natsu didn't wan't to forgive endevour ? Like the man is doing all that he can by visiting on you and the others , being a supportive person and the first thing natsu did is bring up something that happended 16-18 years ago ? Well Endeavor is the main reason everything is wrong he's the cause of the abuse in the family. Endeavor is trying to fix what he destroyed for his own egoist and narcisist reasons, good for him but people don’t have an obligation to forgive or help a person who hurt you since you were born, neglect is a form of abuse, using your kids as an eugenic experiments is also abuse, having children to live your dream vicariously is also abuse. Rei is in a complex position, she agreed to the eugenic experiement and as a mother had the obligation to make sure her children didn't suffer any kind of abuse but she failed in that, though at the same time she was so abused she had a psycotic break. The victims don't own antthing to their abuser, the abuser can atone all he wants but people don’t have to forgive him ever, don't have to even see him, the abuser deserve the consequences of tbe abuse.

Also, what could she realistically do to stop her son from burning to death when she didn't even know it was happening, and that's literally what his quirk does. If you want to talk about prevention, there's no guarantee that would work. No one even imagined it was a possibility. Also, she had mental health issues f her own. Speaking of abuse, people tend to compare Touka with Kaneki’s Mom in Tokyo Ghoul. They believe that she would use sex to keep Kaneki from leaving as well as the punching bridge scene and tell him to never come back to Anteiku. They also accuse Touka for slamming Kaneki’s head on the table in Re: and they believe that she’s worse than Hitler. They don’t even know that Touka suffers from abandonment issues and when Kaneki left Anteiku, he hurt her the most. Touka is nothing like Kaneki’s mom because she had a rough childhood as she was hated for being a Ghoul and her parents were killed by Doves just for being Ghouls too. Same thing goes for Kaori from Your Lie in April as fans hate her for beating up Kousei and forcing him to play piano again after his abusive mother made his childhood a living hell. Kousei chose to play the piano in the series. And let’s not forget that Kaori is a terminally ill 14 year old, she doesn’t deserve to be compared to Kousei’s dead mom.

I will say. I think Endeavour holds more responsibility than you let one, ultimately he did abuse his wife and to an extent shoto (I don't care the reason, Endeavour did push him to the point of throwing up and isolated him from everyone) while touya holds some of the responsibility...he is still a kid with a dream which keeps being beaten down, ultimately Endeavour should of trained him when it comes to turning down to his power/flames/heat when it was clear he wasn't gonna give up granted I get why Endeavour was scared for his safety. In my opinion the responsibility lies equally between Endeavour and Shotos mom (I don't remember this bitches name, she ain't important enough) granted if I had to say someone was more in the blame...I agree with the mom but only slightly. I think Endeavour 100% gets way too much blame from the show and escpecially the fans
