I think this is the first time I've heard someone say that it's more than just a quick squeeze of the hands to bring the back up for balance. I have read it in books but so many just talk about the hands. Thank You for this as well. I'm learning so much from you.

Thank you for this video on half halts. It truly gets me thinking, which has to occur before I can start trying to apply the information you shared. You did a great job putting perspective on half halts.

I'm always trying to figure out half halts and your explanations using the expert references have given me a better image of the half halt. Can't wait to go out and "improve." Especially like your explanation on how to fill out your back by imagining blowing a balloon. Thanks for bringing this subject to forefront.

adult rerider and I've watched this 4 times in the past week. squeezing with my thighs was the missing link to my half halts! and downward transitions apparently. 🤦♀️🤣 Oops! Thank you so much for such an in depth video. Have you done any videos (or could you do a video) about what to do if you're actively being run away with and are not in an area where you can circle. Or if you don't have any steering and the ability to circle? 😂 I probably need to know much more about that topic

Looking for new videos. Is this the end ? I own a Gaited horse. I recently have been riding up and down mountain trails/ dirt road. My horse seems to desire going down hill semi sideways. I have read a few articles which point out a few reasons why the horse would prefer walking sideways. for instance possible back pain due to wrong saddle, front leg pain, bsck leh dis comfort. Do you have anything to add specific to a Gaited horse’s movement?

I have lots of videos! Check out my channel. Most gaited horses are weak in the back end and are often pushed too hard. This could be the reason.

What breed gaited? Is he in good shape?

@@IvyS Peruvian Paso Fino cross with Arabian. He is 16 H. . I’ve only had him since December 2021. I know he was used more for Exhibitions hence flat work. He is a naturally gaited horse very long legged.
