$700 and NO DISK DRIVE OR BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY with ps1, ps2 OR ps3 games??? ULTRA MEGA HARD PASS bro!!!! If that $700 console doesnt come with backwards compatiblity MINUMUM with ALL previous consoles, its a complete no brainer. This is MUCH MUCH worst than the ps3 price reveal.

That is me bro! All I do is game on PC. The ps4 is the LAST console that I gamed HEAVILY on. The 360/ps3/wii was the most invested time in gaming ever. A generation we will NEVER get back again!

Theory: wouldn’t call it stupidity. I believe it’s just arrogance to the 9th degree. Some executives at Sony must have saw what people were paying scalpers for the OG PS5 and thought: People will pay for the product, the price be damned. The basis for my theory being Apple did the same thing with previous generations of iPhones

You might be right about their arrogance. Sony did such an incredible Job with the PS4 and with them already having such a massive lead ahead of Microsoft with the PS5 they may believe that they can get away with anything. I just hope that the negative response will be enough to slap them back into their senses.

So many companies have fallen because their consumer base does this blindly. We need to follow Kratos and “Do Better”

Yeah I'm with you Brian I'm sticking with physical media for video games while i enjoying streaming I prefer having a physical collection of video games, if every video game system is going be digital only then I'm done with gaming as a whole.

I'm in Canada, If i wanted to buy the console alone, it would cost me over 1100$ with the taxes. Supposed you have a few physical titles, then you need to buy the disc drive, which is 100$ Cad, and you probably wants the stands since the Pro is even taller than the regular one, another 30$. This bring the total to : 1250$ Cad. This is beyond insanity.

2:06 500-600 for a ps3 isn’t bad considering online is free and u had good games coming in. While pc was way over that price for gaming, u pretty much had a cheaper fair deal with ps3 here with the ps5 hell no ur paying the same amount have no access to their whole ps2-3 list without buying playstation next a month.

I just converted the 119,980 Yen to U.S. dollars, and to my shock and disbelief, it is the equivalent of over $846! Bruh, that's even MORE expensive than the actual U.S. price of the PS5 Pro! Is Sony fucking kidding me with that?! They're literally asking Japanese gamers to pay more than American gamers just to get a digital copy-only console! What a joke!

Getting ridiculous now...plus the fact pure digital is obviously where they all want to go is a big out for most of us, we deserve the options and a price that is reasonable. And let's be honest...is this generation really worth the price and bother? Most big games are also on the PS4 also ( Jedi survivor this month PS4) so is it really worth getting a regular PS5 let alone this overpriced pro version? Strangest generation of console gaming I've seen...the gap between these generations is getting thinner and thinner

Considering the Switch 2 is getting revealed sometime within the next year, I'm only hoping Sony doesn't rub off on Nintendo with this. Granted, Nintendo doesn't charge nearly as much for their consoles as Sony (which they really shouldn't, Sony has more going for it), but I can only imagine them getting some bright idea to sell the Switch 2 for $500 or something like that. That's more than half of my two-week paycheck. Honestly, ridiculous on Sony's part. They need to have a talk with their PR team about this.

I agree wholeheartedly. And it would be even more expensive here in Canada because of the exchange rate! At this rate, If I even get a PS5 it might be my last PlayStation ever because the games we would want aren't even being made, PS4 gave me hope for the remake market with FF7Remake as well as Spyro and crash but bluepoint launched Demon souls Remake at launch when they KNOW WE WANT THE LEGEND OF DRAGOON. Not only that but where's our PS5 KOTOR remake huh? Sure the astro bot cameos are quaint but after PS5, I will consider switching back to PC gaming instead

You can buy a used 3070 which is slightly faster than PS5 Pro for under 300 dollars. It will be even cheaper in a few months when 5000 series launches.

Sony as lost there minds this console needs to fail and fail big time to make Sony see what they are doing is wrong to there loyal customers for me I’m in the uk and if I got one it would cast me about 969 US dollars for every thing witch is absolute criminal plus all it takes is the ceo of PlayStation to get up in a mood and he could up the price up again here and it’s over £1000 not touching this console till is about £500 and if it doesn’t I’ll just get the ps6 and forget about mid gen consoles in the future

With the way both Sony and Microsoft are going, I think Nintendo and PC are gonna be the way to go in the near future for me. Console gaming has always been convenient, but if these consoles are gonna start selling for 700+ while offering no new games or significant features? Yeah, give me a pre built PC at this point and Switch 2
