Not just anime. I think Rifujin made a good comment about it. I don't remember it exactly, but it aligns completely with my views. Either sex is treated as dirty or as holy. So dirty would probably be dirty jokes, which are pretty common in modern comedy movies. And holy would be if they hide/censor sex and intimacy or if it just doesn't happen at all.

Well let me tell you something, I’m an anime only and I could understand the story and characters motivations perfectly, later on thanks to you I managed to see that skip content and yeah it would has been great to have it but I think that just having morality and a bit of common sense (something that this review guy doesn’t have apparently) it’s possible to understand the plot. For example: that story perspective of Eris, I would watch an entire spinoff series of that story you can bet that I would love that but with out it, to me I could understand Eris feeling and the why she loves Rudy, I know that she wasn’t good with communication and that I know that she loves him much because we just have a death situation in the first act with the dragon god, I saw her love and fear in her eyes and who she idolized him. Jesus I love this anime and this characters so much.
@thelegendaryklobb28792 ай бұрын
I agree. If you watch the anime with attention and you have a common sense, you can easily read between the lines,understand the emotions and infer the inner thoughts of the characters that have been skipped due to time and medium constraints for this adaptation. The amazing voice acting, the superb art and animation of facial expressions and body language, all together effectively convey the emotional aspcet of the characters. Andrew's content have added a lot of context for me, but mostly from the completely skipped parts of the story. Many other times they just confirm and expand what I already understood from the anime by itself, s.o I think the anime has done a great job in storytelling

Rudeus broke through 3 sets of walls and 2 rooms full of monsters before reaching the room where Roxy was imprisoned in. So it is technically possible that she would have been able to fight her way to the third floor. But she would have never been able to make it through the floors to the surface all by herself. Pauls entire party could not reach the third floor without Roxy. They tried 5 times.

Actually when I saw Rudeus break the walls, I was thinking why Roxy didn't also try that.
@deathdoor2 ай бұрын
I think one reason you have to consider why Rudeus was able to save Roxy is that he isn't a labyrinth diver. Everyone was playing by the rules, what to do and what not to do on a labyrinth, and the teleportation labyrinth own rules. No one thought about using earth magic to blast thought walls because that was an official no-no to do on a labyrinth. Even guessing that Roxy was somewhere on the same floor, you need someone crazy and irresponsible like Rudeus to even think about knocking on any wall. Roxy could escape alone but being an experienced labyrinth diver she couldn't think this solution.
@JoseLopez-gi9sf2 ай бұрын
@@deathdoor it isn't that she couldn't think of this solution. To everyone in that world blasting though walls of a labyrinth is a huge disadvantage. You don't know what it on the other side of that wall, you don't know if you will cause the whole tunnel to collapse. The risk are far to great for the reward. Rudy not being an explore of dungeons. And having unlimited mana. He just blast and shapes walls to his advantage which is something people can't do. An earth mage could make a wall but not at the same time as blasting through one. Plus the time wasting of chanting earth magic can cause the death of a teammate. Rudy not understanding that makes him the perfect one to just bulldozer through. Essentially making his own labyrinth. Roxy could never do that because the time it takes to chant and break a wall would leave her open to an attack. Especially if she a water mage not an earth one. She is one of the most powerful water mages in current time. And yet she could only freeze the outer layer of the monsters just to give her enough time to stab and smash them. While the way Rudy thinks he could freeze the whole room including the blood of the monsters without even hurting Roxy in that room. The level of Rudy is that of a God something most people would never even see in that world.

I'm holding my psyche together with spit and duct tape most days now, and people like this make me feel sane. I honestly expected more rage at the scene between Rudeus and Roxy. Maybe the changes really did make the difference between simple stupidity and unhinged lunacy, but there was never any world in which people like that would approve of the story unfolding before them. Here I am, feeling like even fans of the series were harsher than I was on my first watch, even as an anime-only. I didn't immediately condemn or justify Rudy's actions, just made an attempt to understand what was happening, and fell in love with the story even more due to that level of depth in the characters. Then I see this mindset, where they are evidently incapable of separating their own real world from the fictional one. It's sad, truly is.

I would like Otaku Spirit's thoughts on this too. I kind of get the point of consequences. Even tho Sylphie said it was ok to bring other women, she still must have felt hurt, especially after he promised when he didn't have to. I think such a relationship/situation would be hard on Roxy, too, since it feels like she is invading into an already established family that even has a baby on the way(although Rudeus should have told Roxy he was married when they were still in Begarit). Eventhough Sylphy said it was OK, I thought she would still feel bad for Sylphy's situation. This is all so reminesant of Paul, Zenith, and Lilia, all be it that situation was more intense but I can't help drawing a comparison.
@deathdoor2 ай бұрын
Everyone feels a bit "bad", and Sylphie accepting this is part of her character, her flaws. She truly puts herself down in comparison with Rudy. This situation didn't ended there, we'll get to know more about how Sylphie thinks and feels about, there'll be developments around the middle of next season.
@mikeluna20262 ай бұрын
One of the first things Rudeus did when he arrived in Begarit was announce in front of "everyone" that he was married. I can see how you'd forget to state it all over again when in your mind you already did it. Plus, everyone was busy either preparing for the next dive or actually participating in the dungeon dive. Rudeus himself never considered the posibility that Roxy might have a crush on himself, so he missed the signs. Only reason people keep saying "he should have told her" is because as viewers we undertood what was going on way before he did.
@deathdoor2 ай бұрын
@@mikeluna2026 The anime made it a bit better adding that bit with Paul giving him "advice" and Rudeus not getting what he was talking about. At least on Rudeus side. While he was depressed he had forgotten about his family in Sharia, he really wasn't thinking about them, that's why so lost. Roxy is really the one to discuss, but... so what? She made a choice and it was a bit of a surprise to see that Roxy was able to do something she herself thought it was wrong, plus taking the most of it what she could. She isn't the perfect saint Rudeus thinks she is.
@JoseLopez-gi9sf2 ай бұрын
This is what makes Sylphie a Saint. She was never upset he took in another wife. Her self esteem is just as low as Rudy. You don't get a lot of that in the anime but more in the novel. Sylphie was a bit jealous at the beginning when they were children because Rudy would only sing praises about Roxy her teacher. Sylphie never got to meet this person back then because Rudy saves her after the fact Roxy saved Rudy when they were children. After Rudy is sent away. Sylpie was going to go on a rampage because her "God" Rudy was sent away. She calms down and still hangs out with Paul's family to still try to feel that closeness to Rudy. When she is Teleported she is with the Princess and Luke. She sees the really gross things they do at night. And she realizes nobles are all horny dogs. Which that includes Paul having two wife's and Rudy. So when Sylphie meets back up with him at school she is so scaried he could never love her because he is strong and can have any number of women just like Luke. And even Luke teasers her all the time saying Grayrats love women and Fittz just doesn't fit that mold. Which makes her so sad and actually lowers her self esteem even more. When Rudy walks through the door with Roxy. Roxy the goddess. Rudy being serious. Sylphie thought she was going to be thrown out of the house. She would have preferred seeing the beast girls because at least she would have a chance to be by Rudy's side because she was a bit stronger then them. So made she had a chance to fight for her love. With Roxy she stands no chance. So it wasn't that we didn't get to see her being hurt. It was more that she never thought she could be a good wife for Rudy to begin with. Which is exactly why Eris left. She also didn't think she was good enough for him.
@JoseLopez-gi9sf2 ай бұрын
@@mikeluna2026 indeed, this is the way to understand things. I life we only see things from are own perspective. When indulging in media we see it from the outside looking in. So we see all the points as the viewer. Had we been Roxy or Rudy or anyone else in that story we would only be able to see it from their perspective. Which we would forget to see the signs or remind people of things already stated because it waste a lot of time when we are on a mission that has nothing to do with the small details.
@McNastyFlows2 ай бұрын
Roxy basically always had feelings for Rudeus. In the beginning it was admiration for this boy with this incredible magical talent and desire to learn. He knew nothing about her or the world and he treated her like family, he respected her as a teacher, and he admired her for her capability. He is the reason she decided to strive to reach higher in terms of magical understanding and capabilities. If someone just came out of the darkness and saved your life when you had spent the last month struggling to survive an endless onslaught of monsters you wouldn't feel anything? She had given up hope. She knew in her head she was about to die. Then he wiped the whole room in an instant. The overwhelming power left her in awe, it doesn't hurt that he's considered fairly attractive as well. So a hot dude comes out the cuts and saves your life at the last second. You're gonna catch feels. Then continuing throughout the dungeon solidified her feelings for him as she sees how competent he is, she knows nothing about his life outside so it's not like she intentionally tried to ruin anything for him. He was going to die from depression cause he wasn't eating or drinking. She saved him the only way she thought might work.

There was something I didn't commented yesterday but I'm still thinking about, that makes me think if the author really just tried too hard to find reason to complain of if he really just misunderstood what he was seeing, that bit about Elinalise not being allowed to kill the griffon, instead Rudeus killing it. When "adventurers" form a group, each one uses his abilities for the group general protection. Isn't about killing the monsters, it's about surviving the monster. Who deals the finish blow isn't important as long as someone kills it before the monster kills one of the group. Isn't that right? It goes beyond what Andrew talked about Elinalise saving and protecting Rudeus the whole trek to Rapan. In that particular lineup Elinalise is the one with stronger defense and short range attack, while Rudeus has weak defense but stronger and longer attack range, so it's natural that Elinalise gets in the front while Rudeus positions himself at the back to attack at a safe distance. What makes me specially curious about what the author wrote in that paragraph is that what he wrote isn't true. Actually, Rudeus was gonna miss that shot! He didn't stolen Elinalise's kill because he wouldn't be able hit the Griffin if Elinalise had not jumped in and pinned the griffon with her sword. This isn't a moment that is left for interpretation, is hard to excuse the writer. Did he just made a mistake?

honestly the thing with Zenith being a damsel in distress is kinda true at least for Paul. The main reason why I think Paul was in the wrong when he had his argument with Rudeus during their first reunion is because in the letters he was basically like "Hey Rudeus I know you will be ok, I need to find our family, help me when you can" which was fucking insane from Paul taking into consideration that Zenith is a S rank adventurer. Paul should've been more concerned about Rudeus (and Aisha) safety, but he wasn't and I feel weird that this is not acknowledge, but then again, many things are not acknowledged and that's not necessarily bad Also the thing about Paul's death being just an excuse to give another wife to Rudeus... man... I loved it, I think there was a lot of greatness about Rudeus recognizing he failed once again, I would not say that the only purpose of these events was to give Rudeus a second wife........ BUT, the author definitely used these events to do so. If the rifujin really wanted to show us a "Rudeus fucked up" moment, he wouldn't need to put Rudeus in an extremely depressed in which you could argue that he was incapable of consenting (no matter what his body language told us, or that he was the one who initiate it in the novels, his mind was in a state that was impossible for him to consent, he was so far gone and malnourished that his mind was probably in a drugged-like state, hell you could even make the argument that he wanted sex as a survivar instinct), he was also probably going to die if something was not done. If this was a "this person fucked up" scenario then none of these would be there, just Rudeus in a sane state of mind breaking his vows. 30:11 well this is actually incorrect, Sylphie noticed how Roxy looked at Rudeus but was confused by it and when Rudeus revealed the Paul's news Sylphie thought Roxy was giving him the looks because of that. Then when Rudeus started the emergency family meeting 2 also known as "carnage" Sylphie was confused as fuck and that's why she took so long to say anything, by the time Norn finished her hypocritical religious bullshit, Sylphie already understood what was going on, including why Roxy gave Rudeus those looks

Zenith was an S class adventurer, but she wasnt a combatant, but a medic. Its like saying hey Geese would be able to handle combat situations, he is S rank adventurer, while missing that he is a support unit, who supports the party through other means, and is shit at combat. Rudeus is a combatant, whose combat skills impressed Paul, and he was learning under a sword king. So obviously Paul would be more worried about non combatants in his family (Zenith a healer, Lillia an injured swordswoman, Aisha a kid with no combat knowledge) than the combatants in his family. Also Norn hypocritical, wheres the hypocrisy? Did she lecture Rudeus about polygamy and then went and had multiple partners? If thats happened in the story then I take my words back Religious banter? Where. Norn was outraged because she thought Sylphie was being wronged. When Sylphie stepped up and said she has no issue Norn backed down. Yes Norn didnt approve of the arrangement of polygamy because of her religious sentiments, but she just kept it to herself and outrage was not for that. She disapproved of it, but outrage was for the sake of Sylphie.

It is a fact that Zenith should potentially be able to navigate the world better than a 10yo who just happens to be good at magic unless she is literally thrown in the middle of a horde of monsters. And btw, by this time Rudeus had yet to fight any monster, the only time Rudeus saw monsters was when Paul took him in one of his missions. Also, Zenith being a healer doesn't mean that she is absolutely and completely useless in anything else but healing, in the same way that magicians like Roxy do more than just throw magic, Zenith probably had a shit ton of experience keeping herself safe while the rest of the party deal with the monsters, as an S-Rank I doubt she was just open target that constantly had to keep one member of the party protecting her. Norn has double standards with Paul and Rudeus, she never had express any issues with Paul having 2 wives, this is hypocritical, and she knows it, that's why she shut up immediately when Sylphie mentioned it. "Norn was outraged because she thought Sylphie was being wronged" "When Sylphie stepped up and said she has no issue Norn backed down" This is not correct, when Sylphie stepped up Norn immediately yelled: “Why are you stopping her?!” Norn gasped. “Just let her go!” "Yes Norn didnt approve of the arrangement of polygamy because of her religious sentiments" This is also extreme BS, Norn is not even very religious, the things she learned about religion were in the latrea house and she just has bad memories of it. She turned more religious to cope with the fact that she might've sent Rudeus to his death. This is all in the chapter when Norn goes to the church on volume 11. She bringing up religion was clearly a "I can't put into words why this is wrong so let me just use Millis" "but outrage was for the sake of Sylphie" Given that Norn is not very religious, I do agree on this point, BUT, the arguments she used was about her being against polygamy, which again, is hypocritical as she would never say anything like that about Paul. If she kept her outrage to "hey bro, u got a pregnant wife here wtf" then it would've been fine.

@@ShiNijuuAKL Because ability to fight and save your skin can offset the lack of experience, espescially in a teleportation incident, where you have no idea where you might end up. Ghislaine, Phillip and Hilda were teleported to same general location. Ghislaine survived as she had great combat capabilities, and it offseted her lack of knowledge of the region, while Phillip and Hilda who didnt have combat capabilities persihed. By the time Rudeus left Paul, Paul already considered him a skilled combatant, so normal monsters wont be an issue to him. I am not saying Zenith is useless, just that combat isnt her speciality and she is primararily a healer, a support class. She can fight, but she isnt a skilled fighter, like Eris can cast magic, but she isnt a skilled mage. Norn didnt express disapproval at Paul's polygamy, as Paul didnt marry a or sleep with a 3rd person when she was around. Rudeus on the other hand did so. Norn expressed disapproval when Rudeus married a second time, but it dissipated quickly and and was friendly with both Rudeus and Roxy. its just the start event she has an issue with, and kept the disapproval to herself, but then adjusted to it. If Paul had married a third person, maybe at that point she wouldve shown disapproval. She showed disapproval during trigger event, but after that event, she has no issue She disapproves of the action, and then accepts it. She didnt stop after Sylphie pointed out Paul, she states "I disapprove of what you've done, but that doesnt mean I hate you" Reread that part. Sylphie stops Roxy, Norn protests that why are you stopping her, Sylphie says "I never expressed any objections" after which Norn backs down. Sylphie shows she has no issues with it, after which Norn backs down, as her primary reason for outrage was Sylphie being wronged, and Sylphie just took away that reason by showing she has no issue. Even if she wasnt religious (I remember her becoming a devout follower, maybe after constantly visiting the church), she was taught that person should be monogamous thanks to latreas, and that became one of her beliefs as well, and thus disapproves of polygamy. Arguments were not about polygamy, points against polygamy was a supporting point, primary point was about how betrayed Sylphie might be feeling, and thus outrage stopped when Sylphie said she had no objections. Yes she didnt bring up pregnancy as its irrelevant. Doesnt matter if Sylphie was pregnant or not Rudeus cheating on her is wrong, she brought up what how Sylphie was feeling when he had gone on the journey, and you instead slept with another woman. "How can you say that, Do you know how she felt the entire time she was waiting for you to come home?" “Every day she said, ‘I hope Rudy is okay,’ and ‘I miss Rudy,’ and ‘I wonder if Rudy’s eating right now.’ Do you know how lonely she looked-how lonely she sounded the whole time?!”

It's kinda sad that people who think like this are often brainwashed by the public education system into thinking everything romantic is somehow a problem and that everything that a man tries to do in order to establish a relationship with a woman is often seen as predatory to the extreme. If society ever gets as bad as the low birthrate in Japan as it is slowly becoming, it isn't cartoons or escapist entertainment that is to blame here, it's what is being taught in schools today and parents who are too busy in their own personal lives to be bothered to look into the education that their kids are being taught.

I like how Rudeus went from being completely selfish thinking with his dick pushing without a care for her feelings or anything after the party she put together for him and an expensive gift To then resisting actively because of thinking about how Eris must feel because she lost her family but then ultimately giving up because Eris does Eris things Sad that Eris felt guilty and insecure resulting in that letter and separation

18:45 I guess this person completely gets what she's doing, but does't understand that this is the purpose of the conversation. Everything they say represents the opinion of the author. Why would an author let somebody say something that's not true in this story? No, this show wants to persuade the viewer that Roxy is at fault here and Rudy didn't do anything wrong...
@damiancrowley5692 ай бұрын
I think the commenter is right, if you only look about as surface level as possible. The commenter apparently doesn't understand nuance, and wants none of her characters to be human. Even look at how they say they didn't like Paul, to a degree you're really not supposed to. Just like with Rudeus though, he grows on you. And in the same way, by the time you start to respect Paul to some degree, it's too late, just like how Rudy finally accepts him as his father, and before he can come to terms with that, Paul's gone. As far as Roxy being a predator, even not knowing that this was her fantasy, you know she didn't know it was her star pupil until she already had love in her eyes. She didn't raise Rudy to be her muff stuffer, she'd been looking for him and trying to help reunite his family, but never once wondered what the light meat smoked like. She was more into Paul and zenith the way she played shuffle-whore at their door when he was a kid. The truth is, this whole scenario plays like what would happen if any of it were real world shit, and this commenter clearly lives in a bubble where they smell their own farts

When people start talking about how Pauls death or Rudeus cheating on a pregnant wife is somehow an excuse to have a harem 😂 Im sure there would be an easier more acceptable way to do that wtf
@ShiNijuuAKL2 ай бұрын
I mean... no? the point is that if you really want to not give an excuse for Rudeus behaviour then he would've just cheated normally, rifujin explicitly wrote an scenario where Rudeus was in a mental state where he could've possibly consent to anything, and in the LN Elinalise had to lie to him about Roxy being pregnant so that Rudeus wouldn't have a real choice on what to do. The scenario is clearly written with the intention of giving Rudeus a new wife without making him someone who wanted to cheat or wanted polygamy.
@deathitself69852 ай бұрын
@@ShiNijuuAKL Well we can disagree because to me Rudeus was fully capable of refusing Roxy he not only refused her other suggestions but raised his voice at her and if we go by what Rifujin did Rudeus even initiated the sex unlike in the anime where i still think he could have turned her down Making him cheat on his pregnant wife regardless of the situation is way more unacceptable than not making a promise to a character like Sylphie that was already extremely open to the idea and then writing a scenario where Sylphie is aware of what is happening Even in the same scenario there are infinitely easier ways to make Rudeus have that same conflict you see there without cheating like Roxy actually making her feelings known and Rudeus not wanting her to be broken This whole idea that Rudeus because of grief couldnt consent to anything thus he didn't want to do it and he didn't want to be with Roxy is just an excuse of not wanting to admit that he didn't care enough
@ShiNijuuAKL2 ай бұрын
@@deathitself6985 yes if you think that starving Rudeus who is extremely depressed is in any mental state to be able to consent then yes we will have to disagree. I wonder if you think someone drugged is capable of consenting... "than not making a promise to a character like Sylphie that was already extremely open to the idea and then writing a scenario where Sylphie is aware of what is happening" Yeah because the point was for Rudeus to keep a morality similar to the real world where monogamy is the norm. The whole point is "look, Rudeus is not as bad as to let go of our concept of monogamy, but due to circumstances he ended up with multiple wives" does this make sense with how rifujin writes everything else? no, but that's clearly how this specific segment of the story was written. "Even in the same scenario there are infinitely easier ways to make Rudeus have that same conflict you see there without cheating like Roxy actually making her feelings known and Rudeus not wanting her to be broken" Except that in the LN rifujin needed Rudeus to bang Roxy so that Elinalise could use the "she got pregnant" lie to force Rudeus to marry Roxy. "This whole idea that Rudeus because of grief couldnt consent to anything thus he didn't want to do it and he didn't want to be with Roxy is just an excuse of not wanting to admit that he didn't care enough" You might have an extremely incorrect view of what "consent" is, and no, it is not just about "he wants to do it"

I get your point. It's annoying when people use "he" or "she" for people with unknown gender. But using "they" is not convenient. I always have to switch between plural and singular, so I completely avoid it when wriing stories. For example this: "Alex *is* living in a village. They *are* outside a lot. When Alex visit*s* their friends, they like* to play with them" Sometimes it's "is", sometimes "are". Sometimes it's the verb + "s", sometimes it's only the verb.
