I've found that most people, given the option, don't mind a vegan alternative. What we're starting to see is a greater DEMAND for vegan products, and by forcing the hand of meat giants, like Tyson, to invest in and create alternatives to meat, we see more people choosing them bc they are now convenient options. I think we're going to see the number of vegans grow exponentially in the next two decades.

You addressed all the relevant issues regarding it and shared a lot of your personal history with it especially mentioning your family. Thanks dude!

Wow, what surprisingly good takes from you on this subject. I'm not the type to argue that the lives of non-human animals are "just as valuable" as the lives of humans, though; for me, it comes down to the mere principle that killing things because they taste good is unnecessary and cruel, regardless of how "valuable" the lives of those creatures are. They could be worth shit, and it still wouldn't be okay.
@upg51474 жыл бұрын
It's very nuanced subject. Some people use the religious argument of they were put here to be eaten (which can used the same way as if a person is killed by an animal) or you can use the argument all life is valuable (but I guarantee around 8/10 people who say that still kill bugs and the sort). There is no right answer so I say eat what you want and if it's having negative effects on you, they change.

@@upg5147 The right answer will always have more to do with what causes the least undue pain, suffering, or discomfort in the universe, so _of course_ the answer is to go vegan. Or at least, to accept that veganism is the only perfectly ethical diet, until it's proven some day that plants also suffer, too (and it probably won't be). This is where you say something along the lines of, "What gives you the authority to impose these moral standards on other people; morality is completely subjective, suffering isn't intrinsically bad," bla bla bla. Tedious conversation. Had it too many times. That's why I said I hope you find the answer for yourself one day.

@@verbatim7508 But then we have overpopulation of animals. Would you be okay if me and you went hunting, killed and deer and ate it. It was one shot to the head, dead instantly. We use it all and give respects to it before and after we eat. Your morals, while legitimate, say I shouldn't eat meat because of the suffering. If the animal isn't suffering it's not a problem. Hell, if someone killed me and ate me, why would I care, I be dead. If you tortured me first it's a bigger problem but if you snapped my neck, I don't care what you do after that, I'm dead. Animals can't even think of "oh 10 cows have died in this area, now I must hid on fear of death" or "my wife and kid were killed in front of me, I am now traumatized". They just think, danger run, no danger, I'm good.

This channel is so interesting. I've only watched Digi's main channel usually and just ended up here. I didn't expect a measured response and general support without participation for veganism from a channel that's suggesting I watch Steven Crowder on the sidebar (My entire other sub-box is all lefttube, lol) so I'm happy to see some logic over talking points. It's so rare to find a non-vegan who isn't defensive and extremely offended by vegans, regardless of whether they're preachy or not. I'm not (Likely never will be unless I get heart disease or something like Digi's dad here. Happy to cut back, though, and am against factory farms), but my wife is and people act like we're some freak of nature that could never exist.

Tbh I think a lot of people freeze up at the idea of veganism because it seems like such an immense hassle, I think more people need to realize that you dont need to go all the way to make a difference. Just being vegetarian or having a few vegan days throughout the week, while not perfect, is better than doing nothing at all and actually super easy.
@peterchui19644 жыл бұрын
That's how I eventually became full on vegan--making even a little effort everyday got me used to consuming less and less meat till I realized there's no need for it at all. What most people don't get is that they complicate their lives and convince themselves they want this and that, when all they want is good food. And good food that's good for health and the environment is not hard to come by.

I tried Veganism or at least a mostly plant based diet with a once a week meat cheat back in November after watching game changers. Lasted a couple of months before I started having daily attacks that felt like hyploglycemia where I felt like passing out and getting extremely tired. This was even though I had daily protein alternatives and was getting my full dose of essential vitamins. I started eating meat again, eggs particularly and I got better. Every person's body is different so listen to your body and don't be stupid lol.
@samueltaylor13964 жыл бұрын
@@thespeakerofrandom lol, everyone 'does' have a different body. Otherwise there would be no diseases that some people have and others didn't. And yes our bodies can and do change with what we eat and do. And there are somethings you may not be able to have due to an allergy or intolerance of some kind. For example: I for one get sick when I have milk products. Even that will differentiate as far as the level of sickness depending on what kind of milk product I consume. Soda is another thing that makes me feel like crap. Do I still drink it at times? Yes I do. Those are moments of me being stupid and not listening to my body. The oposite is also true in that sometimes your body needs specific things. And if you don't listen to it then you get to pay the price.

What grinds my gears about vegans is when they push in places that are stupid. Like trying to make their carnivorous pets eat a vegan diet. I get the argument towards vegetarianism, but I think veganism is a bit too far. I think there's nothing unreasonable about using cows and chickens for milk and eggs. It seems like a fair trade that these animals get a safe, easy life in return for the food they create. I don't know how the quality of life for the ones producing commercial foods, however. I think vegetarianism has lost popularity in favor of veganism when I don't think that's necessary.
@upg51474 жыл бұрын
People will argue those animals are overused for those resources and treated poorly. In a perfect world, your logic makes sense
@Pritah4 жыл бұрын
That's absolutely right. The problem is that, for example, chickens that are used for eggs are not just living a safe and easy life. They use hormones to make them mature faster (so fast they grow misshapen and full of tumors, sometimes unable to even walk), and cows are forced to breed once, then be prematurely separeted from their children and periodically violated with basically what it is a cow dildo, so they produce more milk. Of course both of them live in the most compact possible cell. Not all of them live exactly like this but most of them do as it is the biologically best possible form of mass production, because that's capitalism for you. At lest in my opinion, the slaughter is the least of the problems when it comes to the meat industry, just the tip of the iceberg.

I was expecting cringe tbh, some good takes, my only possible critique is why you brought up that point at 5:30?
