Not to mention the current generation has fucking awful taste in music and I'm sure a lot of those morons watched the video multiple times. In conclusion, saying that because a video has 179 million views means that 179 million people enjoy it is like saying that you have 773 friends because that's how many people you've met.

I hate to be THAT GUY, Mr Rap Critic, but I feel the need to correct you on something. The term "Bourgeois" doesn't refer to French nobility, but rather the upper-lower class of French society prior to and during the French Revolution. They were still a part of the 3rd estate (the lower social class, behind the Nobility and Clergy), yet were separate from the Peasantry, because they owned small businesses and were far from rich and powerful, but not in dire poverty either. They were the driving force behind the revolution as their desire for some sort of political power which they prior to the revolution saw as the separating factor between themselves and the Nobility inspired the revolution in the first place. Therefore, the comparison between Chanel and takeout food or the Champagne in KFC is actually very fitting, as the Bourgeois did try to emulate their superiors, the nobility, yet keeping that element of lower class, e.g. The Sans Culottes and their extravagant clothing whilst still being incredibly poor. Other than that misunderstanding, great video.

You do realize that Childish Gambino was purposely raising awareness of their song to help people from the same community as him rise up without having to directly give them money, right. It's a pretty basic Migos song but even if he didn't really like it, that was very cool of him, being an artist himself.
@125loopy8 жыл бұрын
FAT JAXSON There are much better artists to raise awareness to though.
@badaxtion18788 жыл бұрын
MeShannan That is true, won't argue with you there. BUT, the migos already have a huge following in their own culture. A culture who probably don't know half of the celebrities in that room and vice versa. Instead of promoting a sound that nobody knows and hoping at least one side will like it, promote something already liked and share it with others to bring two cultures closer. That's just ONE of the many ways to look at it.
@betouribe49278 жыл бұрын
FAT JAXSON but it doesn't even have a good message actually quite the opposite and the song was overall lazily made . :/

0:54 The word does not refer to the nobility. It refers to the class of property owners, the middle class, the capitalists.
@lonewolfM168 жыл бұрын
Bourgeois actually kinda means the opposite of nobility. Originally it denoted people living in the city, as opposed to the rural population, and so became associated with the middle class, tradesmen, merchants, etc. Basically the people who were free city dwellers instead of aristocrats or (usually unfree) farmers. From there is basically keeps the meaning of "middle class" business owners as opposed to nobles, but it's adopted by Marxists eventually to denote the Capitalist class, those who have capital. Part of Marxism is this idea that the interest of these business owner classes superseded nobility as society transitioned from Feudalism and Mercantilism to Capitalism.

@k-master9738 жыл бұрын
Aphro but he reviewed Stressed Out and Hotline Bling before. And if Hotline Bling is considered rap, so is Redbone
@OgIKidd8 жыл бұрын
It's mostly about context. For instance, Hotline Bling fits more into the category of Hip-Hop/Rap because Drake specifically created an exaggerated rap style with slight R&B influences to stretch his words/notes and carry a slight tune. But he's not really singing. With Awaken My Love as a whole, Childish set out to create a full on Psychedelic Funk album largely inspired by Funkadelic/their Maggot Brain album. Rap was more or less the furthest thing from Gambino's final goal. The point being that while Hotline Bling slightly genre bends subverting expectations, while still following a simple guide for Drake to remain a "rapper" on that song; Awaken My Love is in an entirely different genre, let alone sub genre altogether. Now, it'd be different if Gambino took a Dr. Dre, Warren G, or Snoop Dogg G-Funk esque approach to it... But he didn't. lol

I loved this whole video lmao. But from my perspective, I thought Quavo's pronunciation of Ratatouille was him sayin "ratat-toolie" implying the "toolies" (guns) that go "ratatata". But I'm pretty sure I was overthinking that line.
