If you look closely at the older Big Hit logo that plays at the beginning of every MV, it says "Music and Artist for Healing" . That's basically BTS' mission statement. They write and sing and rap about their problems and joys and growth, along with a few love songs. We can empathize because we've all gone through something similar at some time in our lives. Some of their bops are political and societal commentary., but if you don't know the context it's just a good song to dance around to. That's one of the reasons that Army really dissects their lyrics to get the meaning.

Helpful hint for the guide: Not sure if you know.... Korean people counted age differently to others... Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most older videos, including this guide, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust. The members were only 13-18 years old when they became trainees and 15-20 yo when they debuted. In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on 01 Jan every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. .... Year of birth - International age at Debut on 13June13 (Year and age became trainee) Jin 1992 - 20 yo (2011 - 18yo) Suga 1993- 20 yo (2011 - 17yo) Suga started with MIDI at 11 JHope 1994 - 19 yo (2011 - 17yo)JHope started dancing at 8 RM 1994 - 18 yo (2010 - 15yo) RM started rapping at 11 and was well known in the underground scene at 13 Jimin 1995 - 17 yo (2012 - 16yo) V 1995 - 17 yo (2011 - 15yo) JK 1997 - 15 yo (2011 - 13yo) JK left home at 13 to move into the dorm with BTS Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age. EG: TaeHyung (V) born 30 Dec 1995 ...... current International Age 27 (Korean Age 29). ... 2 years difference So Tae born 30 Dec 95 is 1 year old, then on 01 Jan 96 he is 1 more year older (so they would say he is 2 years old, when we would say he is 2 days old.) So he was considered 29 in Korea since 01 January, we would say he is 27 turning 28 in Dec. It's a different way of looking at age, from new years day - Tae is living his 29th year (since conception) - instead of - he turned 27 (since birth).... The Korean Government has recently (June28) brought in international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos/ interviews/ shows, will be referencing Korean age. 💜Have a great day

Thanks for watching this 💜. A couple things: 1. In Korea, the format goes last name then first name. So Kim Namjoon, for example, would be Namjoon Kim in the west. 2. From eldest to youngest it goes: Jin (1992), Yoongi/Suga (1993), J-hope (1994), Namjoon/RM (1994), Jimin (1995), V (1995), then Jungkook (1997).

If Taylor did an update next year, the video would almost 2 hours long. 😄 BTS is keeping everyone on their toes for the past year and have accomplished so much. It doesn't surprise me at all that Jin and JHope are doing so well in the military. None of them even know how to give less than 110% when given responsibilities and tasks.

Fun fact...to date, they have won over 1000 awards! Butter, Dynamite and Permisstion to Dance were released during Covid to uplift fans and themselves because of the easy and poppy vibes. If you do decide to listen to more BTS music, please ensure that you have captions on as they only released those 3 songs in English. You will find that all their music has a message that is profound, their music videos are always thought-provoking. Their dedication and sheer will to succeed has brought them so much success but not without sacrifices. Due to what they have been through, ARMY is very protective of them, and although their music is not to everyone's taste, as long as they respect BTS, they are fine. Don't worry about how often you pause, ARMY loves watching reactors experience BTS in this way. 💜

They all have solo songs which is very unusual for a group, at least in the US. I think it just makes them better as a team. They are very close and have truly become brothers. You need to watch The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS by the Rice Squad and BTS Hardships 2013-2021. You will understand why ARMYs are so protective of BTS. They haven't had an easy road but the ARMY has been there to comfort and support them the entire way.

Thanks for your reaction to this. I have seen Taylor's video so many times and yet have not seen any copyright strikes on it at all until recently. Big Hit don't usually strike on anything so long as you inclide the Big hit intro and logo. BTS and Myeonseok Kang have recently released a book "Beyond the Story 0 10 year record of BTS" . I say "book" but it actually resembles a substantial Brick. I am trying to read it slowly (greatly helped by the sheer weight of it which means I am reluctant to read it in bed where I will eventually drop it on my face!). It actually starts as each is recruited as trainees but does not stick too closely to chronology, using comments and recollections from members to stop the flow becoming too prosaic. It is exceptionally well written and translated and includes many detail new to me and no doubt other ARMYs While I did have a fairly workable understanding of the idol industry in the last 10 years, this book makes it much more clear. The pressure they were under, and the obstacles that they faced and the public criticism would have overwhelmed nearly anyone else - and at debut their ages ranged from 15 to 20 years old. They knew they had to make money and that the salaries of every employee at Big Hit depended on them. Hundreds of idol groups debut every year, competition is intense and most are disbanded within three months (often after training for years, and having a huge debt to the company for training and living costs). Big Hit never had a clause about repaying training costs etc if they failed - but they still had to make that money before they as band members would earn any money! That is incredibly tough. I knew that Big Hit had struggled for money throughout the early years and were close to bankruptcy more than once; that they could not afford to pay for all the resources BTS needed - and my impression was that this actually included food (Jin's mum used to send them food parcels); At one point ell the staff and BTS as well were told to go home because they had no money to pay them - but BTS refused because they really had nowhere to go and no money to get back home. RM and Jin;s families lived close-ish to Seoul but everyone else lived at the other end of the country.. From the very start BTS differed from other idol groups because they wrote and sang about their real lives, the struggles they faced, their dreams and their fears, and yet they managed always to make a message that is supportive and positive but never becomes unreal. You asked about the "storyline" for which Jin plays the main character... This is the Bangtan Universe, which shows the hard life faced by 7 friends as they try to navigate poverty and find independence in a dark and unfriendy world where all they have is each other. It is told in MVs which don;t necessarily relate directly with the song but which none the less are consistent with BTS' aims and determination to empathise and support ARMY. It's a complex story, using time slipping and flashbacks and fantasies to weave the different stories of the characters they portray. It's a playground I have not explored with any focus, but xCeleste did make an excellent overview/explanation which is helpful ... Actually MANY of BTS's MVs are very complex and use a llot of symbolism and cultural references - there are fan-made explanation videos for many of them which are well worth looking for ...

57 yr old Army here. Watched these guys grown from teenagers into some of the most humble talented gifted artist and young men the world has to offer💜 The vlives are so much fun.. RM just comes and hangs out with us Yoongi comes and usually gives us such uplifting words J-Hope usually dances for us Jin cooks and eats with us JK takes song requests and gives us a mini show V does so many different things Jimin builds arts n crafts with us RM is a lyrical genius, especially the way he uses wordplay even between languages, composers using different beats flows rhythms.. He's also the only one who does not have a driver's license Yoongi is my bias and I love how he's so savage.. He seems like a very cold and distant person but he's very caring and loving J-Hope is a phenomenal dancer and just recently headlined at Lollapalooza.. Hobi is the sunshine of the group Jin was cast on the street getting off the bus that's true, it has happened twice to him... He did not sing or dance at all before he became a trainee.. Jungkook was only 13/14 when he joined as a trainee, he loves his brothers and Army so very much, loves to take risks, he's pitch perfect and talented in so many things. He's called the "golden maknae"because he's just good at everything he does🤷 V was hidden because the company feared he would be approached by other companies because of his striking good looks.V's voice is like a river of melted chocolate and his vocal range is amazing. He loves jazz and he feels like an old soul to me. He's very funny and spontaneous. Jimin is pure perfection when he dances, the feelings and emotions he's able to protray is amazing. He also had the shortest time as a trainee, around 7 months only.

There is a concerted effort by the western music industry to “contain” BTS. Because they know that if BTS are given the same attention(radio play) and chart rules, they will eclipse the majority of the western artists out now. And due to BTS’s team and company pretty much keeping all of their funding “in house”, the money they make off of western artists can’t be made off of them in the same way. They literally change the rules of how charting is done almost every time BTS or it’s members has a release. When in actuality BTS are doing numbers that compete with the largest American artists out today. And for them to do this with music that is mostly non English is remarkable. I say all of that to say this, it’s not surprising at all that you had not heard of them before. That’s very much intentional. I bet most of us who found BTS did so through the efforts of long time Armys. Ok…..rant over 😂

I think that after watching this guide, people are surprised by the type of songs they're doing for their solo work, so its been great and fascinating. They call it Chapter 2 for the solo projects they're doing before they enlist. My favorites are 'More' by JHope;'Change part 2' by RM (this song that was released was just supposed to be a demo/guide and RM was drunk when recording it. But the producer and him couldn't reproduce the feel of the song afterwards, so they released his drunk version 😅),'People Part 2' by Agust-D;'The Astronaut' by Jin (he didn't get a chance to release an album before enlisting so that was his only song release beforehand);'Set Me Free Part 2' by Jimin;'Seven' by Jungkook (it just came out and is a single. His full album is hopefully coming out soon). V hasn't released a single or album yet but one will probably come out a few months after JK's album release. We're all excited to hear what type of music he'll do since he loves R&B and jazz so much. He's an old & cool-cat soul. 🙂

@MystiqueRisingSun
@MystiqueRisingSun Жыл бұрын
@@bulletproof_hope Nope! He decided. Look at the time line... Men have to enlist by age 28. Jin turned 28 in 2020. The BTS Law passed in 2020. He knew he'd have to enlist in 2022, instead of 2020. He had plenty of time since - technically - he *could* have been (maybe even was) working on an album since 2018 (or even sooner), if they felt the law wouldn't pass, and he would have had to enlist in 2020. He just didn't want to to do a full album "right now". I have a feeling shortly after Kook or Tae release theirs (IF Tae actually is doing a full album and whichever one of them releases theirs last) will be JUST before he enlists...which means that Jin will be out/almost out...and THEN he (Jin) will most likely release a full album. He did say one was coming *and* it makes sense for at least one of them to hold off on releasing an album until they're done with their service. Remembering that they'll need more content while the others are starting (and in Hobi's case...MAYBE RM's, too?...finishing up) their service. It would actually be the perfect strategic move, since they're not allowed to have "outside income" while performing their service duties. Personally, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Jin's album was already finished, printed, and packaged...just waiting for him TO come home for its release. IF that is the case, I'd say it'll be released 1-2 months after he gets out.

In that interview with their co-underground wrappers, RM and Suga were invited and joined in that celebration of SK's underground rappers' festival. At that time, BTS' popularity at home were just starting to take off. Note that BTS' popularity started to grow abroad, particularly in Japan, China, Philippines, Latin America, and USA. Their unique music and performances among the KPop community attracted more fans among US KPop fans in their first appearance at the 2014 KCON in US. Their fans at home (South Korea) sought help from foreing fans and, little did they know, that there was already a growing global ARMY which wre ready to defend BTS and wpuld be ready to flock and fill up the Cities of Countries where they would hold concerts that shook the world. Eventually, their 2nd huge concert tour Wings were held in stadium arenas across the globe. In that interview, Suga was maliciously misquoted when he said, "All I wanted to ultimately do was to write and produce music but I was ripped off most of the time by fellow producers. Becoming an Idol is seemed to be the only way to achieve that dream, so I would do it even if I dont like doing it." But, his statement was twisted by that guy, accusing Suga of doing it for money. Suga almost erupted. Good thing that before the argument becomes heated, RM stepped in and simply said, "If that's how you really think about us, that's your thoughts and, thus,we cannot oppose it." .

Also Korea age is different. You are one when you are born. Global age has been adopted recently, but in these older clips, the members (like JK) are actually younger. You'll learn. However, as he joined BTS (officially came to the dorm) in November of 2011, his 14th b-day had just passed 2 months prior. Oh, right, 3 - if you include everything (BTS, solo - from each members' albums as well as strictly SoundCloud releases - collabs, covers...and even their commercials, because it's BTS and they can't just do a 15 second "song"...I think they're shortest commercial song is still almost 2 minutes long! This is a fan-made video and they don't claim copyright. It was unnecessary for you to mute for copyright. In fact you're the first reactor I personally seen to this video that has ever muted for "copyright". They all have solo work within the BTS albums. Now that some of them have begun to head off for their mandatory military service they're all working on solo projects and Suga just completed his first world solo tour. Actually Jungkook goes by his first name. In Korea surnames are written first and given names are written second. So that stands true for each of the members. For example RM's first name is Namjoon and his last name is Kim.

There may be dramas with more and with less episodes, but 16 tends to be the most usual number (at least in Korea).

Also if you feel like going on a deep dive into the history of BTS, the docu-series the Rise of Bangtan here on KZbin is fantastic. Like it’s a Netflix level quality deep dive on their entire history as a group with context into the K-pop industry, through their discography! It really paints a complete picture as to how they got to where they are today and the struggles they’ve faced along the way. They truly broke the mold of how K-pop groups become successful by bypassing every single predetermined requirement for a group. Normally K-pop groups get famous by showcasing their new music on the dozens of music programs in South Korea. The more established the entertainment company is, the more screen time their acts get and thus the more their fan base can grow, cementing their success. BTS had none of that. They were cut from music shows regularly and rarely invited to do variety shows (another way to market yourself to new fans). So they paved their own way and found their own success and turned the entertainment world in Korea on its head. They threatened the status quo and received so much hate and backlash for it, never mind the racism and xenophobia they experienced once they started branching out into the US music industry. But despite it all, they remain so positive. It truly is an inspiration to see their work ethic and positive attitude and down to earth mindset. Even with the recent collab jungkook just did with Latto, she was gushing in an interview over how jungkook is a complete pop star, but was so kind to her and her team and made her feel welcome. They’re just genuinely good people and I’m proud to be a fan!

I remember the day my mom died(the world around me seemed and felt so normal, it was crazy fr....Meanwhile MY whole world was crushing down) I belive i was meant to become a 2017 ARMY for a reason fr bc my mom dying wouldve been MY 13TH REASON. 💜

The final song ("Young Forever") means a LOT to both BTS and ARMY. When/If you get the time, I highly suggest looking up the lyrics. While there is a music video for it as well, that particular moment at Wembley can be seen in full here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoizZ4x7obqtmas - this is, IMHO, the best version of it and how it all went down. Jimin is almost bawling because of how much the song and ARMY singing it means to him...he even has a tattoo of the title. Jungkook (as stated in this video, with his love for ARMY) tries to sing along, but ends up breaking down as well. The others aren't necessarily flat-out crying, but you can see they all get emotional/misty-eyed. RM is trying desperately to hold it in and I think he's the only one who really - sort of - succeeds, other than Yoongi (Suga).

Good reaction. So fun facts. BTS is a family and the brothers (because that's how they and Army sees them) lived together for more than 10 years and it was not until 2021/2022 that they each got their own place. Something else to know is that Korea used a different age system until this year so Jungkook also known as JK was 13 years old when he joined the team. That is why he says the older brothers raised him. Also what you think is their last name is actually their first name. Their last name always goes first for them. You asked about what it meant "in the drama" Taehyung wrote those songs for two dramas which had his bestfriends as actors too. Taehyung just recently participated in a show called Jinny's Kitchen along side his best friends. Great show by the way. Run BTS and Bon Voyage gives you more insight to the brothers and how close they truly are. They love and support each other especially when they are working on solo projects. You will never find any jealousy, envy or coemption energy among them which sadly you don't see much of that in other groups. Welcome to BTS Family. I hope you will be encouraged by them and their journey. You will discover so much about them that there is no turning back now. 💜Borahae💜

Also you mentioned not knowing about the BU or Bangtan Universe! It started during their Most Beautiful Moment in Life era where they started tying together music videos, little concert clips and more into a fictional storyline! I think it’s been expanded to include comics, web toons and more but it’s a whole trip! I think if you search “bangtan universe” there are video compilations on KZbin or playlists that will give you each of the videos to watch in order. They can be confusing and tbh even among army we vary on what certain things mean or represent so don’t feel like you have to know what’s going on either, but it’s really interesting and super well done!

Just in case no one else has answered this, the "storyline" they referenced doesn't run through all of their albums, only some of them, and only certain songs/music videos. The MV's related to the storyline have a line in the credits on KZbin that says "BU Certified Content," or Bangtan Universe Certified, something to that effect. The first MV that actually started the storyline was I Need U, and they were actively releasing Official Notes related to the storyline up through their Map of the Soul albums, but not their BE album or their Proof album.

In 2019 MAMA is a korean music award, MAMA first started in 1999 and until now its still present. It has 4 grand prize (Artist of the year, song of the year, Album of the year and Worldwide icon of the year. For the first after 23 years in history of MAMA. BTS is the first kpop idols and celebrity who won the 4 Daesang (Daesang is term called of the 4 Grand prize) so nobody other group won the 4 daesang only BTS who won all 4 In 2020 BTS won the 3 daesang in MAMA music award and in 2022 bts won a award again without all 7 of them attending the show and perform but they released a album called "PROOF" Except BTS member J-hope it because he perform in show solo and perform his solo songs The reason why all 6 members was not there it because that's the time when bts need to Enlist in military service and will return as a group again in year 2025, only jin and jhope was in military and namjoon will enter soon and other members will follow. But the day BTS released a song called "Take Two" in their 10 anniversary june 13 2023. They released a song which is a pre-recorded song before the 2 other members enter the military and decided to released the song in their 10 anniversary. BTS won the MCountdown no. 1 in chart, without them performing in stage. IM SOO SORRY ABOUT MY ENGLISH

Thank you for making time to react to BTS. I'm glad you enjoyed learning about each of the men who contribute as a whole to the incredible phenomenon that is BTS. As you saw, they have a wide range of genres to listen from, and their discography is huge - around 400 songs. Since you are a huge hip hop fan, I would like to suggest: Cyphers 1 - 4 by the rap line, (RM, Suga, J-Hope), Outro Tear live, Joke by RM. Chicken Noodle Soup by J-Hope, The Last by Agust D. There is also a trilogy by Agust D which I think you will love as you will see he is honest and raw and spits those bars! It starts with Daechwita, then Haegeum and then Amygdala. There are actually so many more I would like to suggest, but perhaps start with those and work your way through the rest? Hope you enjoy💜

Obviously I commented early and saw later that you did figure out that they all did this. But I am leaving the comment here for the list of the free albums, called mixtapes to differentiate them from the albums produced by their label. Just so you know Korean put their last name first so for us he would be Mr Jungkook Jeon often just referred to a JK. So Suga first name is Yoongi and RM's first name is Namjoon often referred to a Namjoonie. J Hope is Hosek but is often referred to as Hobi. oh yes about ages in Korean they don't use International age so Jungkook was only 13years old when he joined.
