Cravo [ _crah-voo_ ] is B.Portuguese for "clove", so naturally it's gonna smell like clove. Since cloves contain eugenol, they have a numbing effect that's almost like Novocaine. This snuff is definitely on the lower end of quality you can get in Brazil.

Have to get some Imperio do Brasil, but the stuff is basically unavailable.

@@SnusAtHome I live in an area with a lot of Brazilian immigrants, and I've shared snuff with them. They all say that German and English snuff is better than Brazil's. I've seemingly reached the end of the snuff panoply. You probably feel the same way.

I find it interesting that nasal snuff has a long history in many parts of the world but north america.
@SnusAtHomeАй бұрын
Explainable by America’s long agricultural society and the heavy reliance on horses and travel, which makes snuff difficult (unless you’re in Iceland and drink the snuff out of a powder horn with your nose)

Thats exactly how I imagine brazil 👍

Because it is exactly like that. I'm brazilian, trust me.

The only clove snuff I currently have in my collection is a tin of McChrystal's. Took a couple snuffs while watching the video. Although, I prefer straight tobacco snuffs, clove's not a bad one as far flavor additives go, imho.

I’ve always loved it in snus; was really fond of Clove Explosion before GN discontinued it.

As I have commented in another video, this is a very cheap snuff; BUT I am a medical student in Brazil, and snuffs such as this (clover was always the better ones) have carried me throgh many sleepless nights, either on rotation or studying; they have saved my nose from the stench of infected wounds, formol and some less elegant intestinal smells (related to bleeding in the GIT) Its certanly not the BEST, but its a usable rapé. Snuff was, in centuries past, a noblemans vice, and the portuguese court (and later the brazilian) would use rapé; but it is childish to pretend we live in those times- snuff is now mostly used by old or rural folks. Much like pipe, its not a elegant thing to use in Brazil (nor anywhere in the West)! Too bad!

What exactly are some elegant intestinal smells? ;) I promise to get a hold of some of the higher end stuff, but I love seeing comments like this. I have a soft spot for Maxwell House coffee, which is considered one of the most disgusting and cheap coffees on the North American market, but knowing that I’m familiar with the cheap stuff is sort of nice.

I had a question for you Matt. I'm not sure if you have a fb but I'd love to talk sometime. But I had a question about straight dips. Do you know what exactly the flavor is in it? I've heard salicylic acid ethyl ester similar to wintergreen but I'm not totally sure. Thought you may know but I'm not sure if you've ever attempted straights before. Hardly any info online about them. Sorry to reply to this video and not the moist snuff ones I just wanted to ask.
@SnusAtHome2 ай бұрын
There’s definitely wintergreen, but also liquid smoke, vanilla, and saccharine. Eventually I’ll do a video on this, but it’s very difficult to look up.

Those tin snuffs are shit. Try to get a Brazilian snuff called Império do Brasil, it's the closest we have to English and German snuff.
@SnusAtHome2 ай бұрын
A friend has offered to send me some, but it will be a while. I promise I will try, though!

That's the best Brazilian snuff brand by far
@thallescastellani31729 күн бұрын
@@SnusAtHome get all their products. You won't regret. I must say that Império's schmalzlers (The brand says they're only schmalzler-inspired but I don't see why most of them wouldn't be considered propper schmalzlers besides the fact they weren't made in Germany) can sometimes be more complex and natural (ingredient-wise) than some Bernard's products. Their "english" line can be awesome too and I bet that their latakia and SP blends are among the best in the whole world.
