5:53 I'm an empath. I sometimes find myself standing a meter away from my person just waiting for them to stop crying and give them space. Waiting with a glass of water, and if I can grab a chocolate or just snacks I'll give it to them. If it's a child I will console them immediately and give a hug, children are easy to pacify irl, I have 8 younger siblings so I'm talking from experience. I just try to imagine what would I need if I was in his/her shoes. Adults tend to shy away from people if they really cry, bcuz we only cry rarely. But kids need attention and someone to play with

I was the motivating and blunt comforter, so it works for some people... I told them how bad they are, but it is the reason why they make it that far. They only could know that themselves, so there is no reason why I or others could beat them down. Then, I compliment them and tell them to keep doing as always (or give them some guide). Lastly, I would try to have them walk around a bit (moving around does it strange to your brain chemistry :)) or give them a drink. (You can't cry and drink at the same time lol).

if someone cries in front of me i usually let them cry until they've calmed down and ask them if they want to talk about whatever happened. if they don't want to i usually start talking about something i saw or something that happeend to me to cheer them up a bit and if we're close i usually hug them and give them a kiss. if we aren't then i ask if they want a hug or if they want company for a bit. edit: also since i get really uncomfortable comforting people when they've calmed down and there's no talking or anything i usually smile at them and tell them that if they need anything i'll be in [blank] place. i don't think I'm the best a comforting people but my friends say i do a good job so hhh,,

I'm the heavy comforting type. I'm the type of person that comforts you before you even know you need to be comforted and because of that you start crying so I have to comfort you more lol people call me a mom person. It's also kind of in my job description, I've worked many years in childcare and now as a teacher haha so yeah it kind of comes with the job Story time: An immigrant worker started talking with me once and I was polite and nice back you know. To note, casual conversation with strangers are very rare in my country and kind of odd for people to do. I began asking him about his life and then how he felt about being away from his family. Yeah.. he started crying and I ended up having to comfort a rough construction worker more than twice my age on the train on my way to school. Poor dude... He said thank you in the end haha
