Im from da uk and this is a long & deep story but it might be worth listening seeing your comment made me remember it all. I remember I had just turned 10 And I’m kicking ball on the Astro turf n my big brothers ppl was in the hut smoking up they was basically my olders/OGs n they used to look out for me like they’d Give me a bit of money to go to the shops type of shit. I remember taking a break from football n I was sitting in the hut with them ended up smoking weed for the first time and that song come on everybody’s speaking n bussin jokes while it’s playing but I’m there high Asf zoned out just listening to the lyrics and I hear him at the end of the song saying how the story is true. It sounds dumb but that song fully opened up my mind to the reality of the streets and almost made me desensitised to a lot of things I used to avoid being in the crowd but from there on out I’d be there watching my olders rob & jump ppl and not feel any way about it then Soon enough I was in the mix robbing and jumping ppl 2. Even tho I didn’t wanna do it in the moment I just found myself tryna be accepted. Age 12 I got a taste of my own medicine, I was tryna fit in the group then one day I found myself alone without my group being robbed by older ppl from another area I ended up getting robbed stabbed 5x in my right leg after that my big brother took me under his wing and I inherited my brothers problems , found myself frontline in a postcode war with 2 different areas 1 area was my brothers opps & the other area I was warring with was the ppl who stabbed me that day. Im 17 now and gained fuck all from it my older bros left that life behind so I inherited my brothers battles just to end up fighting the war on my own🤷🏻♂️ I’ve been arrested for 3 aggravated robberies only charged for 2 been arrested for 2 stabbings/ “section 18 gbh wounding with intent” one of them stabbings wasn’t done by me but I still took the charge for my friend since he poked the guy who was about to stab me from behind I got bail then later on down the line the victim refused 2 testify so I dodged that charge then I beat the other stabbing charge and got NFA cuz of a alibi. At this very moment I’ll never forget this song bcuz of how much I related to “Williams” story. Young kid who seen the older lot doing bad shit then found himself getting his hands dirty in search of acceptance but when I got stabbed that group wasn’t there to help, when I got arrested they never came to bail me out. Same way when William found himself on that rooftop none of them ppl tried to talk him out of jumping, they helped him get in that situation but never helped him get out of it. They let William die and killed his mom and forgot and never spoke about it and as I sit here I now realise that if I had died when I got stabbed & robbed in that Forrest they would’ve forgot about me and never spoke about it same way they did with William. It started with me being horrified n confused while listening to that song that day in the hut and it ended with me relating to Williams story more than I ever thought I would only difference between mine n his story is the fact I never found myself doing some super twisted shit like what happened on that roof . Just goes to show for any young kids that that song might not be fully 100% true but when he speaks about William being misguided and exploited is 100% true & only when it’s 2 late will you realise them ppl you inspired to be don’t give af about you and how misled you’ve been. So Yh that’s why I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song bcuz whenever I think of certain parts of my past I think of this song & when I listen to certain parts of that song I think about certain parts of my past. If you came this far I appreciate it fr cuz it feels good to actually get shit of my chest so I thank you for hearing my story 💯and I’ll sleep easier by telling myself that maybe just 1 person can learn from this song and also my story and make better choices than me. My experience has pros & cons it’s fucked my mind state up but I’m glad I went through it so when I have kids I’ll know how to spot the signs of them being misguided

This song never forgives or paints Billy in a positive light, as this is always what he wanted, and only felt disgusted when he found out it was someone he cared about, his own mother. He didnt care the whole time he was beating her to near death, as the song says they broke her jaw and ribs to stop her from screaming and pleading with them. He didnt care when he and then the rest of them raped her. He only cared when he realized she was his mom. It just shows he wouldnt have cared if it was someone else. Him killing himself does nothing to redeem himself, as he literally cant. There's nothing for him, no forgiveness, no peace, no nothing. The Devil didnt tempt him, Billy opened that door himself, and shut it right behind himself. Aint no going back, he was just another demon

Wow. And I thought whiskey lullaby was bad. Whiskey lullaby is a country song about a young army vet coming home happily to find his wife in bed with another man. She didn't know he was coming home and so it was a surprise for everyone. He left and became a drunk trying to get over her until he eventually "put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger". He was buried underneath the willow tree in their yard and his wife couldn't cope with everything so she tried to drink the pain away just as he did. She then killed her self and they were both buried next to each other under the willow tree. Don't know how this comes into play but at the end in the music video there is a little kid that spots the ghosts of the two lovers holding hands as everyone is walking away after the burial. The end.
