Hello, Brandon! You couldn't put one over me, but THIS VIDEO LOOKS JUST LIKE YOUR OLD SCHOOL VIDEOS FROM BACK IN THE DAY! So nostalgic, and great Hip Hop selections. That's my favorite time for Hip Hop, too!

Good stuff. I have been getting more and more rap/ hip- hop added to my collection within the past 6 months. Most of mine is 90s and early 2000s

I jumped on this Tag because Rap is very seldom mentioned in the VC.

What's your thoughts on mid to late 90s rap? Do you like the songs "Tha Crossroads" or "Gangsta's Paradise"? On a different note my favorite by Sir Mix A Lot is "Swap Meet Louie".

Yeah, there was certainly some awesome stuff in the mid to late 90s. Bone, Digable Planets, Black Sheep, etc. There were a lot of great Hip Hop albums back then. I think I started to get lost with hip hop in the early 2000s.

Great picks man. UTFO wins again! Can you believe i've never owned a Cypress Hill album?! Thanks for joining in. P.S. You showed The Real Roxanne Lp. She was down with UTFO. Roxanne Shante is an entirely different rapper who was down with the Juice Crew.

Indeed. For the longest time when I first discovered UTFO I thought Roxanne was a member of the UTFO lol. That is how molded together they were with the dis/answer tracks lol. Man I miss those days of hip hop!

Maybe it's a generational thing but I just can't get into Rap unless it's from the 90s. That was golden age of Hip-Hop after all. 😅

The best way I've found to described the difference, in general, of 80s hip hop and 90s hip.....is that if you see an album cover of rapper SMILING on his/her album cover. it was probably 80s. If the artist is mean mugging or looking pissed off it was probably 90s hip hop lol. I like both, but something truly was lost when it wasn't "cool" to just be fun, positive, or silly on rap album and unless yoiu were shooing up a place or selling drugs it was hard to get to the top. Luckily we had some artist that also when with the militant, back to knowledge, back to Africa path that kept some positivity in Rap like PUblic Enemy , Arrested Development, or Poor Righteous Teachers. Not much different than what happened when 80s new wave and glam metal got taken over by the darkness of Grunge.
