I do sense a bit of a cultural shift. I’m not saying he ended Drake’s career, but everyone, including drake’s fanbase is looking at him and his music different. Plenty of people are realizing he’s not who they thought he was, and cause of that are losing respect for him the more and more he does his antics. He may not be “king of the mountain” very long. Cause I have a feeling that even Kendrick drops and does his Juneteenth show, that’ll elevate his status in the game immensely, and probably surpassing Drake in some ways. For a while, someone sat on top who was a pop star, not original, and hardly had respect from peers and the genre itself. Now Kendrick, who the game respects, has viable accolades, and is basically a big part of “the culture” could move in and possibly become number one in the game after all of this. But honestly, it was always just Kendrick anyways lol. 😂😂

your history is a bit twisted & I can't let it rock cause there's kids learning from you, you have a responsibility. Wayne's run was during the time Nas was saying Hiphop is dead (this actually caused some tension). Kanye came out in 04 but didn't really takeover until 2007, after Nas proclaimed Hiphop is dead. Wayne had of course already been around almost 10 years. As for the claim Hiphop is dead, well you have to understand the statement first. What Nas was saying is the Hiphop culture that he witnessed growing up was nolonger there. We're talkin park jams, secret cassette tapes, ZERO financial incentive, pure rebellious ghetto expression. Does any of that describe anything from beyond 2006? hardly. However Hiphop cannot die, Hiphop is a spirit. The culture of people who are Hiphop has been commercialized, but as soon as you do that it's no longer Hiphop, so you cannot kill Hiphop. That also means accepting that Hiphop was never & will never be the majority, because to be Hiphop is an inherent minority. Again, the moment it isn't, it ceases to be Hiphop. They can pimp out our artforms, they can use the word in vain, but they can't kill the spirit that makes kids paint on trains, or plug their speakers into the corner light pole & make sure you can't ignore them.

Once I heard Kendrick was the underdog, I couldn't listen anymore... and then seeing people in the comments say ghost writers - this whole sub channel is cooked. 😂 Drake will go down as one of the greatest rappers of our time, get that through yalls head. Kendrick doesn't make Not Like Us type of songs often, so all these new fans thinking that - yall are gonna be disappointed. There's a reason why Kdot has a specific audience, so once the hype dies down and he goes back to his conscious rap - it'll be post Mr. Morale syndrome, and he'll go back into hiding. 😂
@Obie_245 ай бұрын
Bro based on Kdot’s career timeline his next album should have the replay value of Damn & GKMC. Oh and what’s the specific audience you’re talking about? Homie broke the record for biggest selling rap tour with the Mr. morale tour until Drake broke it with tour he just had. Drake’s biggest mistake might be beefing with 3 of greatest producers of all time (Metro, Ye & Pharrell). Bc they fasho reached out to Kendrick with fire azz beats
@lonevetgaming35 ай бұрын
@Obie_24 The audience of people who don't even know his Mr Morale tour grossed one of the highest tours in rap. That audience will not go back to GKMC, and they might listen to his next album, but if the tracks don't hit like Euphoria, DAMN, Alright, or Not Like Us - they will not give it replay value. I'm not saying Kendrick doesn't have a strong fan base, and I'm not saying he won't sell over 450K copies first week - I'm just saying the longevity of this hype will be short-lived. Also, I think Metro is a great producer, but he shouldn't be next to Pharell. Not yet at least. Not before Dre, Quincy, but I agree that Drakes approach was crucially under prepared!
@Obie_245 ай бұрын
@@lonevetgaming3 I disagree with the GKMC part. GKMC has been on the billboard top 200 since its release. It’s the first hip hop album to be on the charts for 10 years. It’s the longest charting non-compilation hip hop album of all time. Even post beef it did the equivalent of 40k album sales in a week. My point is that albums the definition of longevity & one that even new fans are going back n listening too. Also, he performed songs from GKMC on the Mr. morale tour & his set in general consisted of more songs not on Mr morale. Like he was only doing 3-5 songs from his last album.

How many times has Kendrick had ppl waiting years? You sound like you talk in social media language in real life. Stop using internet narratives

Drake came from well start in life and that isn’t hip hop/rap … he has a different up coming and he just lied his whole hip hop career to fit in . 95% of us saw it and get . It’s a fraud and it put a dent in where hip hop / rap was going !! Now is back to bars and real story telling
