Kendrick moves in SILENCE so unless we're told what he does in Compton.... We won't know, the problem is (for the people that question it) THEY DON'T KNOW!!! He's MORE THAN MUSIC and doesn't need or want the spotlight.

jumping on a track is not selfless act. IT boosts Drake. Ask what Kendrick does in his actual community and not just in music. Kendrick DOES help local artists also. Sounds like desperation to disparage kendrick is where most of this comes from. Kendrick does more directly than he does for social media. He doesn't ask camera men to showcase his every move. He doesnt move like that.

Why are rappers expected to collaborate with lesser than known rappers? No one seems to have these expectations in any other genre. It used to be really special when an artist was coming up and got a feature from a bigger artist, now it’s expected right away. Plus, if Kendrick heavily pushed Baby Keem to the forefront then people would complain about that.

I don’t think Kendrick even considers himself a “hometown hero”, or some savior of the west. He just does what he does, keeps it off of social media and people come up with their own conclusions. If he considers himself anything it’s probably as a savior of Hip Hop in general.
@Jon844515 күн бұрын
He literally made this a huge theme of Mr morale, he said himself he's not a saviour and celebrities shouldn't be worshipped. He's a flawed human being who doesn't deserve to be worshipped according to himself

@@Jon8445He also ran around with a blinged out crown of thorns
@Jon844515 күн бұрын
@CyrusIsnt one theme on Mr morale and the big steppers is rappers often cover thier pain and trauma in chains and tattoos as he mentions on the album multiple times. A crown of thorns however symbolizes carrying a burden. Kendrick covering it in diamonds symbolizes him masking his pain whilst still carrying the burden of being this figure people look up to. Even tho he didnt ask to be some type of saviour its a responsibility he cant run from as his music resonates deeply with alot of people. This is why he chose to wear that crown. Just say it went over your head lol
@CyrusIsnt15 күн бұрын
@@Jon8445 the man Positions himself as someone who is deeply religous. Thats not the type of imagery you should display for artistic expression. Though it his music he makes it clear he is troubled and looks for guidence himself. It just his imagery and some songs he release do not help. Basically a lot of what he said and displays he should not do, even though he seems to adress he knows he messes up. Its just odd doing both things this often
@TheRonnieaj14 күн бұрын
@@CyrusIsntIf anything, Kendrick often makes the mistake of assuming people will look beneath the surface level and really listen to what he says, and it’s clear from the frequency that people claim he wants to be a “savior” that they don’t. Kendrick gives listeners way too much credit sometimes, to his detriment. Your dislike of the imagery doesn’t make it inappropriate; if anything, it reinforces his point. Because Jesus didn’t put the crown on his own head. Other people did, then taunted him for it. At some point Kendrick maybe wanted to live up to the expectations others set for him, and realized he couldn’t, that the burden is too much and he’s NOT a savior, and tried to cover that crown superficially to hide the negative impact it had on him. Hard to find better imagery to do with, imo.

This whole situation has been misunderstood. Even in the Drake vs Kendrick “beef”, Drake is simply not American so criticism for Kendrick not putting down for the west coast never was a thing before this situation when Drake was trying to rep for everywhere but where he was from. Kendrick never went out of his way to identify with another culture like Drake. That’s the whole point. The west coast is still in America. But Drake isn’t the opposite side, he’s a different lane and when that’s acknowledged then we could actually have conversations about what this means. Because again it’s simply the reality. If you look at someone who does music with any and everyone just to do it and someone who respects their time and energy to not just be with everyone are two different types of beings. Drake isn’t putting people on because it’s always for his own gain. He even brought Kendrick on tour so he Drake could appeal to more hip hop audiences because he was being clowned for singing too much. It’s not about him helping people as it is to benefit off of those relationships until they don’t serve him.
