Kendrick Lamar Recently Put On His First Concert Since His Legendary Beef With Drake Titled "The Pop Out: Ken and Friends".
This show marked the victory lap for Kendrick within this battle with Drake, and the first time he performed since the beef started. Beyond Kendrick celebrating his win it was also a powerful moment to unify the city of L.A. and appreciate the essence of what hip-hop is about. The show features tons of West Coast artists from Tyler, the Creator to Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab Soul and the reunion of the Black Hippie collective. Even legends like Dr. Dre came out. DJ Mustard the producer of the hit diss song 'Not Like Us' had his own set and performed with YG, and celebrities in attendance included SZA, Lebron James, The Weeknd, Rick Ross, and even Kanye West's daughter North West.
In this video we will recap the show, and discuss why it was one of the most legendary moments in hip-hop in ages, and beyond just being a great moment for Kendrick, California, and rap in general, it was also a terrible moment to be a Drake fan for many different reasons that we'll discuss in this video.

And for as intimidating as Dr. Dre can often be as a performer, I thought it was quite charming to see him lean into not taking himself too seriously and just indulge in the humor of that. 😊 I'll admit it was surprising not seeing Snoop Dogg there especially considering how obsessively they milked the promo of "Gin & Juice" throughout the event (I'm not sure if it was because Snoop had a family situation, a schedule conflict: which honestly isn't a good look optically given how historic this performance was, or if he is just more of an opportunistic fence-sitter), but Dr. Dre showed up in a big way so I guess it balances it out.

Now Akademiks' latest spin is showing one section of the Kia Forum and concluding that almost everyone who attended his show were non-black as a desperate straw-grasping attempt to prove KDot's core audience is out of touch with black culture. Drake stans are no different than conspiracy theorists at this point with the way they're acting. They pick apart the tiniest thing to try and salvage their idol's reputation while trying their absolutely best to discredit or downplay any point that completely destroys that narrative. I've seen Drake stans defend him on his weird attraction to little children, saying that everything he does with them is completely rational and okay to do. [Predators move in flocks] At the end of the day, history is told from the perspective of the victorious, and nothing those weenies can say will change that.

For kendrick to address the entire west coast and for them to agree that 2pac a.i. stunt was messed up. I see a man calculated and ready to try and shift more of what gives back to the culture. He cares about the art and solely the music, and I bet he wants more representation to show there before he leaves. Either that, or just at least feel the moment of literal gang wars come together and make peace just once for the art.

There's also a rumor that a twelve-minute extended remix of "Not Like Us" will be released soon with featured bars by many of the performers that took the stage last night including YG. I sooooooooo hope this proves to be the case! It's also being rumored that Pusha T is about ready to drop a new diss track corroborating KDot's claim that Drake has a secret eleven-year old daughter. According to the rumor Pusha T already knew about his secret daughter but, because his longtime friend Kanye was close with his ex Kim Kardashian at the time and he had already obliterated Drake with "The Story Of Adidion" anyway, he decided to refrain from releasing it out of respect for Kanye. But obviously now that Kanye and Kim are estranged and she also got close with Drake for a time, murmurings are that Kanye is more than happy to retaliate by spilling the tea on both her and Drake via Pusha T's blessing. Honestly, the whole thing is soooooooo gross between the all-around toxic vibe of it as well as Kanye's hard fall from grace into neo-Nazism sympathizing, but the point is Drake's on even more precarious footing moving forward than he is even now.

@@arctictropic1147 Pusha allegedly knows via Kanye and Kim's former marriage and then Drake being romantically involved with her as well for a time. Kendrick's performance was top tier, but he absolutely missed about 10 bars in Euphoria. He skipped the first I hate you list that included sneak dissing, fairytale stories, what the culture is feeling. You can kinda hear and see him laugh at himself when he catches it and continue on like a pro. You'll notice he repeats the cease and desist bars twice. Regardless, that moment was fucking amazing.

Kind of wish KDOT did his *song* Black Panther. Giving it another listen after this battle went down really makes the song sound like a Drake diss to me (same for All the Stars). Since Chadwick Boseman’s death, Kendrick really is the Black Panther now; especially if he can unite the west coast rappers to protect their people from a colonizer just like the Avengers.

Honestly, my favorite moment of "The Pop Out" was during DJ Hed's set when Tommy The Clown took the stage with the newest version of crazy-talented "Battle Zone" dancers. Now I observed a LOT of comments on Twitter where people were responding who the hell he was who are obviously less knowledgeable of West Coast hip-hop culture, but I became familiar with his positive community efforts across greater Los Angeles via David LaChapelle's documentary film and although I assumed his cause was still active to this day, it still got me dewy-eyed seeing him on such a prominent stage for the first time in quite a while at 55 and still looking spry and healthy as ever. 😊 That and the Nipsey Hussle tribute were the two moments that most got me in the feels. 🥲

“He didn’t forget or miss a single bar”. You’re wrong about that actually. When he went into the “I hate the way that you” section he slipped into the second verse too early then realized it and had to reset when he got to that part. I was like damn he must be nervous but it didn’t seem to matter anyway. He also struggled with the last verse of Not Like Us, but that didn’t matter either. It was an epic show, an epic performance, and an epic moment in time.
