I installed an auto drain valve on my air tank. Works great. It's programmable. I have mine set to open every 45 minutes for 10 seconds. I installed a y filter ahead of the valve with a shut off valve so I can occasionally clean the filter without losing air in my tank. Works great. Helps keep moisture out of the tank and air lines.

@@ColeAviation I purchased my auto drain valve from amazon. My air compressor is a two stage, 5 hp, w/80 gal upright tank (175 psi rated). I'll try to post a link. They have different voltages for the auto drain valve. Mine is 110vac and I have it plugged into a wall outlet that is adjacent to the compressor. They have 220 vac units if you want to utilized the feed supply voltage to your air compressor. My compressor is in the far corner of my 30'x60' shop adjacent to an exterior wall so I plumbed the auto drain pipe to discharge outside. I also installed a remote switch by my entry door to turn on and off the compressor. Since the auto drain valve is plugged into a wall outlet, it cycles no matter if the compressor is running or not. Probably better applications out there but for now, it works fine. 10 years and still working. (szzijia 1/2" AC 110V Automatic Timed Water Tank 2-way Direct-acting Drain Valve US Plug). The name says "water tank" but its for air compressor drains. The price of the valve was about $30. Hope this helps. Depending on your tank drain size, you might have to buy fittings from your local box store to plumb it in.

@@ColeAviation I forgot to add that this drain valve longest cycle time is 45 minutes and duration time is 10 seconds. It's not adjustable for once a day cycle time. great set up! a suggestion, @2:03 on your compressor, u dont have a shut off valve or safety in case that rubber hose or galv going in breaks. Or if u need to do work on it. Just change the female coupler from the hose to the tank

Thanks for watching and your comment! As you can see the red hose is connected to the compressor with a quick connector like a normal air hose. I got a shut off valve inside to shut air off. If that makes sense.

Been using the Maxline system by RapidAir now for 4-5 years: Great stuff! I live 25 miles from them, and was just over there last week to pick up some extra parts. You did a great job getting your 3/4" line very straight--most impressive. That's not easy to do without their $170 straightener--although I suppose you could pull it through a piece of PVC or something. But that stuff is STIFF! And a guy doesn't want to under-estimate the value of the little bevel cutting tool, as you'll rip your O-rings all to pieces unless you bevel the inside of the tube opening. Your shop turned out great too, by the way. I hadn't seen one of your videos since you made one when the building was just going up. Lots of progress since then!

Good morning Tom! I greatly do appreciate the compliments. I love my air system! It turned out GREAT. That’s cool that you live down the road from them like that. You are right about not easy running that 3/4” line and getting it straight. It took me for EVER to get it to look that good. Glad you liked it and stopped by to check out the progress. I FINALLY got my Piper J-3 Cub DONE and now I’m working on another one. It’s a 1943 Piper L-4 Grass Hopper which is the same as my yellow Cub but it’s painted Green and blueish silver looking and has a LOT more windows in it. It actually served in WW2. I’m working on a new update video so hope to have it uploaded SOON. 😉👍🏼 Take care!

Aw Man good show. Brand new compressor absolutely NEEDS a Derale after cooler (bout 80 bucks on amazon) with a few fittin's to get her all hooked up but STOPPING Water in your tank is the BEST Defense for a brand new compressor. All in bout 100 bucks and you can add a water separator after the cooler to trap the water created from air temp differentials and prevent ever having water in your tank nearly 96% of the time. Of course daily draining is a must just in case and I kinda went WAY Out and added a custom built 2" rigid Galvanized Water Trap/Desiccant dryer after the tank to keep water outta my systems piping cause I used Rigid Galvanized 3/4" runs. Sort of wished I saw this vid before I did all that cause i coulda saved prolly 800 bucks, sigh. Anyway well done.

The question is when paint a car with all that line can u coat in 1 go or do u break it down into panels? Thanks again for the video

Mine does good for the most part. It’s all about what the CFM output is. Like this one I believe is like 14. Something CFM at 90 psi. I’m gonna get me a bigger 80 gallon SOON with at least 20 CFM at 90psi so that way it wasn’t run as much. 👌🏼

Hi Cole, question. The Cambell Hausfeld air cleaner dryer, I see your air is coming in from the left. I'm aware you have to respect the direction of flow. My 60 gal is under my stairs in the garage so the air has to come in from the right. ( Can't really move it, it's in an ideal spot) Can the 2 filters be inverted so that the air flow is now from right to left. Is that a possibility? Same question for your filter regulator you have as a stand alone unit is it possible to have the air flow in the direction you want? Planning on putting the 3 together. Want to know before I buy. Much appreciate your time. Just subscribed 😊👍👍

Why do you want to angle your quick connects at a 45 instead of straight out? This is the kind of shit that keeps me awake at night.
@ColeAviation
@ColeAviation 2 жыл бұрын
😂I guess to bug people like you and make you ask questions of why. 🤣 Na....I’m kidding. 😂 The main reason is be to keep it from stressing the hose there at the fitting. If you think about it when the hose is connected on with it straight out it pulls down on the end of the hose. To where when it’s on a 45° down angle 📐 to the floor coming out of the wall it makes the hose last longer. I already had to replace a hose because out that. I still haven’t put those fitting on there. 😂🙄🤦🏻‍♂️ Good question though. 😁👌🏼 Hope you have a blessed thanksgiving! 👍🏼

Does it matter where in the line you put the filter?
@ColeAviation

Yes. You want your filter as close to the end of where you hook your hose on at. That way it catches most of all the moisture.

Yes you want it close to paint gun as possible and you want 25-50 feet of line out of the compressor before you run the filter.
