It definitely seems like life can indeed survive and thrive in astroid material. In my own experimentation I showed that algae was quite happy to use meteorite dust as mineral supplement. This is fantastic news for future colonization.

This channel makes me wish i had of tried harder at school. However i am likely only aware of this due to the presenter's ability to explain things in a way that i can nearly comprehend. Thank you.

Curious if they did a DNA sequencer analysis of these microbes they found or did they just "assume" terrestrial oh no need to do a sequence?
@dzhang4459
@dzhang4459 6 сағат бұрын
It's virtually impossible to sequence DNA of a few microbes. There's just not enough genetic material. It was probably fairly easy to tell they were from Earth just by looking at them.
@anautonomousagent
@anautonomousagent 5 сағат бұрын
@@dzhang4459 You are saying this news is about a "few" microbes?!? One microbe entered and it multipled what 2 or 3 times and died to produce a "few microbes"! (Few is used the same way as couple and also for a number slightly greater than a couple. Several is usually used for a number greater than a couple and a few.) And we can't sample their DNA? But we can compare ancient human DNA 40,000 years old with modern DNA...

Yeah, why didn't they allow them to multiply enough so they could get DNA samples

We gauge intelligent life evolving on earth in 4 billion years. We also know Jupiter and Saturn move closer to the sun and reshuffled all of the planets orbits. Maybe Earth moved into the Goldilocks zone of the sun 600 million years ago as we are getting closer to the inner edge of the Goldilocks zone and some of our global warming effects are from the estimated 2°C rise in temperature for this century.

@@terrymckenzie8786 Believing and belief are two sides of the same coin. If you believe something, you inherently hold a belief in it. While they serve different grammatical roles (verb vs. noun), the act of believing naturally creates a belief, so saying they’re entirely separate doesn’t hold up.
