It seems odd that physics has treated space as nothing while simultaneously saying mass can bend it and therefore light must follow it into the blackhole. Just seems absurd. It should just pass on by if space is nothing.

Crazy how when this was recorded Starship was just a paper rocket and Starlink was just a good idea. SpaceX is pushing space technology at such an incredible pace.

man, i love these dark matter in depths. thanks once again JMG and ANNA and im not sure what the opossum does - probably supplies and taste-tests the snacks. i have been thinking about the possible physics interactions of dark matter particle types while at the same time causing it to be a giant puff ball around galaxies such that it is.

In rhe past thete were plants that used green light ( they exists today trees with red leaves) but they went extinct and only those that use red and blue light remained.

Why should there be two copies of the Standard Model? Would the 'dark' version necessarily have three generations of particles, for instance?

Dont know what dark matter is? How about a darkmatter shadow cast by matter inside an event horizon? So if we pass above another mass, our dark matter shaddow will add to its darkmatter mass and fall into the singularity because of mass imbalance. So if its a darmatter bl9b or shadow, its being cast by something from outside the event horizon.

Great episode with a great speaker. I always love when you impress your guests with your questions. Yes, sometimes the "wacky" youtube hobbyists can hang with the professional theoreticians and this show proves it.

Sigh... Just because we see an apparent gravitational effect on spinning galaxies does not mean there's actually matter there. In the dessert, sometimes you see shimmering water in the distance. Sometimes after a storm you see color arches across the sky. Yet we know there are mirages and illusions and why they occure.

Funny how when I was 8 years old (34) the Earths history originated in “Afica 6,000 years ago” but within my short lifetime we doubled our timeline to 12,000….how much chance is there that it could double again? Academia and Religious ect were so sure 6,000 years was our history. Such absolute blind leading…whats the song? And if I claim to be a wise man that surely means that I dont know?

Dark matter is more than 80% of the universe, but the sciencetist can't find it. Dark matter is an excuse for IDK, but keep giving us more money!

What you call evidence of dark matter isn't. It's evidence of extra gravity. That that's caused by matter is an assumption.

If everyone on earth was listening on 1420 Mhz, why didn't anyone else record the Wow! signal? Maybe they did.
@crimony3054

We should send a follow-on message behind the Wow! signal. Then if someone else also gets the Wow! signal and points their receivers in its direction, they'll get a message from us 45-50 years (earth years) after it. Of course, when they find out it's just us and not the originators of the Wow! message, they'll probably come here and kick our asses. 🤣

Ok, so what if dark matter is simply a proof of the multiverse theory, and the 'pressure' from the universes directly 'above' and 'below' us are the root cause of our universes expansion? And dark matter doesn't actually exist in OUR universe as a physical construct, but rather is a bleed through effect of another force in an alternate universe that directly interacts with our own?
