Charlie's portrayal of Sauron is remarkable. All of the cast is but he just has these very subtle micro-expressions that makes you think, "what is he thinking?" that imo is a trait of a great actor.

The most interesting thing about his expressions is you can get an idea of what he's thinking or feeling then he makes a full turn on his approach when he becomes angry.

I don't understand the hate towards the show. As a die hard Tolkien fan, I've read the Silmarillion, LOTR appendices and the book of Lost Tales. I could tell right from Season 1 that they're trying hard to be faithful to the story and characters! I love this show because it makes me want to go back and read the books again and again to see how they compare. Some compression of timelines, etc is inevitable, but the spirit of the show is UNMISTAKEABLY Tolkien's and I don't believe the haters are true Tolkien fans.
