Thanks to Popular Science magazine for this neat project I built. See me demo it and a few different ways it can be used including my batting practice.
*Note: When playing with this AIR CANNON BALL PITCHER, do not put hard objects in it, for obvious reasons.
Use SOFT FOAM, Whiffle balls, or water balloons only. Having seen an article on of how to build one of these in this month's issue of Popular Mechanics, I decided to build one myself. You may remember back to the day when my friend Cody built a Golf Ball Air-gun that we shot at a windshield with.
So this seemed like a perfect item to play with that is less intense.
I am quite amazed that the machine hurled my plastic lids, and small Whiffle golf balls so well and far.
In my case, I built it slightly different than the plans, as I found I did not need a coupler size pipe for the blower, nor the 2 sawhorses. Only one is needed.
I also found another experiment you can do with the 3 inch Low Heel Elbow. You can make an airball column beam supporter that will even support a ball sideways.
I think my wife plummeting me with balls was having more fun than I. Ha ha.
Thanks for watching this experiment from Mr. Herbert's science class. Please subscribe for more fun.
Dave Herbert.
