Just a note - The Millenium Falcon is a multi-crew ship being operated by too few crewmembers; often during its service history it was flown by only a single pilot. Maybe don't hold it up as the gold standard while also crowing about solo play being nerfed.

I had my C2 detonate over the weekend when I was landing at Loreville. The hanger looked open until I was almost through the opening.

It might have been me, I rented one to see how it flies and I did some trade runs. It flies well, but getting it in the micro hanger is a chore. I remembered that I went in nose first like that once.

@@lordfraybin yeah. I had planned to extract the boxes from the buffer inventory. But tractor beams don’t work in a city… so I had no choice to lift off and do it in atmosphere. But instead I blew up on nothing lifting out of a hangar with doors fully open

Love all these vids! I assume I'm being watched every time I come in for a landing now haha. I also wonder if I would even recognize my own landing if I saw it in one of these vids. One thing to keep in mind with landings ofc is with the offset in the hangar. Depending on my ship I will typically get as close to the elevator as possible to minimize the distance needed to travel on foot so I rarely, if ever, have a "perfect" landing.

I feel like the landing alignment rating should be neutral (+0 points) if they land aligned, negative (-1 points) if they bump into the hanger, negative (-2 points) if they explode/break off a piece. But most importantly you must give them positive (+1 points) if they land with their ladder, elevator, or ramp nearest to the elevators.

About the guy in the Spirit... That ship is unnecessarily hard to land but only because CIG insists on making you use a Hanger that is 2 inches bigger than the ship on all sides. It's beyond ridiculous and should be changed to the next size larger hanger. I'm pretty good at landing and even I hesitate in that particular ship.

I put my gear down early/late because of roleplaying reasons. In reality planes put their gear up, as soon it is safe. But never before they have continious positive rate (climbing). I would also put it up as soon I have cleared the landing pad and some forward up motion. Because if my engines would fail, the landing gear would help a lot.

30:58 MOLE mining is back on the menu. Been soloing and made a mil after a week on casual mining (no hunting, just strip mining, 1-3 runs a day) it was relaxing. Would have made WAY more with a crew... but I'm strapped for time sometimes and had too many ships get blown up by team miners (be it team Prospectors or in my MOLE). So, I'm jaded and solo mine almost all the time, and with "death of a space man" in the future I only want to blame myself.

Landing gear being deployed makes landings a lot calmer in 3.23.1.

Shouldn't players be excused using landing gear earlier now we have Master Modes? Dropping the landing gear makes approach speeds a lot more sensible.

You can adjust your limiter and speed easily enough. Having your gear down early is still not needed.

honestly, its hard to have a cinematic landing without landing guidance. real live airplanes have instruments that line them up with the runway many miles out and give them altitude ques to set the decent rate. we are in spaceships and just get a marker on screen. they need to literally paint a trail in the sky for us to follow in the HUD.

I wouldn't take off on the 90 degree landing , it is kind of tough some times to make out the orientation of the hanger pad in the vertical hangers and some ships will spawn at 90 in them .

14:01 It may be that they are abandoning them there... because they are allowed to. Simple fix there... have CIG actually do what they should and allow the ships to run out of fuel/power eventually. That will take care of the ships just sitting there hovering with no one in them.

cant complain about landing gear with mm i will put the gear down to control my speed when im getting close now, they need to make c1, a1 parking hangar bigger, once personal hangars come out though my biggest ship is reclaimer so my personal hangar will be huge eve for a little ship.

90 degree offset is fine. Cinematic landings are almost always 45 degree offset.

Anyone else using a top-down external camera preset to land? Works quite well for me with my Taurus and even the Spirit, even though the latter can be extremely tight in certain situations. Seems to negate the perspective issue of the default external camera angle while landing in a vertical hangar.

As an owner of a C1, I hate landing the damn thing. You cant just get it down, you gotta make sure you have enough room in the back as well to drop the ramp or it starts clipping and the whole ship starting dancing.

I had a full load of refined bexate (?) and corundum in my taurus at lorville and as i entered the hanger the bottom disappeared and was in space and above me was lorville and then the screen went fuzzy and i was advised that i was a deadun🤨

Connies should get a pass on putting their landing gear down early because they have to shift their entire lower nacels forward and you don't want moving parts while trying to delicately maneuver your ship when landing as it would change the center of mass and can disrupt your overall control. I think the score is appropriate, but only because he didn't use his VTOL features to assist.

I would not take points off for 90 degree rotation, for some people in some ships that might even be intentional, depending on how they want to get to the hangar exit. Also, with the front rotated towards the exit, there are some seat boxes that the ramp could hit if you're not far enough forward. (Yeah, it's not just the size of the hangar entrance that can be an issue with the C1. That long ramp can be an issue sometimes.) My first landing in a rented Carrack was probably a lot like that, with gear a bit earlier then usual because I didn't want to have to deal with it while trying to squeeze the Carrack into a hangar. (Seems like an even tighter fit then a Spirit, and I know I wasn't sure if the gear sequence would cause problems if done in the hangar.) I do know that I went to Lorville with a Carrack. The takeoff was definitely not me, so the landing probably was not either. And not my Mole either, don't have a reason to take it to Lorville. Edit: Post got submitted a bit prematurely. My Mole was working in 3.23.1 when I tried it out. And I do use it solo because the payout would not be very good in my book if I had to split it. But I'm not doing half a dozen mining trips a day.

Forgot to mention this earlier: But ships randomly exploding for no apparent reason (especially in hangars) seems to be a new thing in 3.23. Very first takeoff of my Reclaimer in 3.23.1 it exploded. And all I was doing at the time was pressing the space bar. (The hangar doors had plenty of time to fully open as I was checking on the claw operator's seat prior to takeoff.) In 3.23.0 one of my other ships exploded up at Seraphim when I tried to go into QT and then drop out early. And in 3.23.1 my Cat suddenly blew up while descending slowly into a hangar. (Was already partly in the hangar and descending slowly.) Think it might be some sort of weird desync issue.

At 7:00; that's called being "Wormed", during a "Mezcal" landing. ;-D On second thought, I'll dismiss the "Mezcal" landing, but stick with it being "Wormed" by the server as you indicated. At 14:30; that's a "Mezcal" launch, luckily without being "Wormed" (exploding). At 31:45; That was a "Billy Beer" landing, any worse (without sound effects) it would have been a "Mezcal" landing. ;-)

09:41 "...easiest it's ever been..." Gotta disagree there, Hybrid. I don't know what it is about MM, but I've had an absolutely horrible time getting used to flying. Before MM, I was decent at landing. Now...I can't say exactly why, but it's like not only are there speed limitations (I DETEST the 30m/s limit with gear extended), but it's like the flight model itself is different for all my ships. Right now, I feel like I'm learning to fly all over again, and I'm just not picking it up. Vector Assist mode functions...I dunno...differently now. Speed bleeds off with gear extended, dropping from 30 down to nothing if I don't take any action at all. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, and it's frustrating.

1st - good usage of the camera. 2nd - Night-time footage sucks. Cant see whats going on, so unless your scene calls for darkness, always film in the day.

I laugh at these landings, not your show, the show is good! What I laugh at are all the people who use to complain how they wanted more realism and they don't bother using their vtols! Secondly, I often put down my gears early because I also kind of use them as an airbrake, and with them assigning you little pads when you have a big ship does not help for adjustments.

For a most cinematic landing, gear should come down as you enter the hangar. Going into the hangar with your gear still up looks really bad and not at all realistic or cinematic. It’s your show tho of course.

Your gear down preference is inappropriate. your gear down preference is too late. gear down at/about crossing the threshold of the hangar or a short bit before is ok. keeeping gear up into the hangar, is too late and risks a gear-up landing. gear down, on final approach, is conventional/IRL
