Very clever jaw configuration. I have a much smaller Covell power hacksaw. Very neat device. Glad you are restoring.

That pulley is probably not original. My saw was one of the last made and has a cast iron pulley as have all the others I've seen. If your replacing the crank pin it may be worth boring out the bronze bearing and making the new crank shaft oversize to match. Those oil grooves will be hard to replicate. The crack in the base could be filled with a piece of steel plate that could be brazed in and ground down. Would need to post heat to stop cracks with the size of the repair.

Hi, that's great, thanks for the update. I will probably go with the steel plate brazed in. For the pulley, I have seen photos of saws with a clutch assembly, which I'm assuming was lost somewhere along the way. I shall try to find a suitable replacement, or make one..
