I have a feeling it tied into a horizontal adit in the area that is now collapsed. It's so crazy to find mines in the middle of the desert with water in them.

Why would you go off rope instead of just pulling some slack? Would've had some issues if it was just blocked by loose rock and you went through the bottom. Is this out near Harshaw?

Typically a incline shaft has a ladder that goes down one side and right next to it is a ore car track. A winch would be set up at the top of the incline to pull the ore cart to the surface, to haul the ore and waste rock out.

I don't have an 02 meter yet, that's next on the list. As far as a gun I haven't needed one yet.

The same is true over here, the lengths people goto to dump stuff rather than take it a few miles on good roads to a local tip is unreal. I wonder if that shaft would have required pumping out daily and I wonder how much further the shaft went down below the water table? Any old records held on these mines?

I couldn't find any records, but there is a mine close by that has collapsed. I'm thinking they could have been connected at one time.

It's totally possible they could be linked, we got lots of mines over here that have done the same, one owner buys out the surrounding mines, consolidation, as some mine sites here are called Consols for short.

I know a mine that is huge in Arizona the tailings are at least 60 feet tall and it’s a vertical shaft
