Between 1992 and 2003 Pavarotti held benefit concerts for charity called Pavarotti and friends in his home town of Modena in Italy. This particular concert was for Angolan refugees and it was held on the 28th May 2002.

Which would never have happened without Pavarotti, the only reason Freddie ever became aware of Caballe was because he was friends with Luciano and went to an opera he was in one night. This was a few years before Pavarottis cancer, the reason hes sitting is for a severe back injury. Also his father and mentor Fernando Pavarotti died 2 days prior and Luciano was deep in grief. He did not cancel this show because this was a part of an annual benefit concert that Luciano held in his efforts to raise money for refugees of war torn countries. The audience is there for Luciano primarily as these were his concerts, these concerts were entitled Pavarotti and friends and he duetted with dozens and dozens of the worlds biggest pop stars. To this day no other entertainer has raised more money for charity through benefit concerts and volunteer work, Pavarotti used his platform to make the world a better place and he deserves every bit of credit for doing so.
