You should also check out the video of Emma Kok and Andre Rieu's Orchestra that will pull at your heartstrings. I think that Celine was holding his hand because Andrea Bocelli is blind though he wasn't born blind. Andrea also has a son that has been putting out his own stuff and even a duet with his father.

Follow up Italian FYI- If something is spelled with a ce or ci, it’s pronounced che (like Guevara) and chi. (Like cha-cha.) Che- means that - pronounced similarly to Spanish- que chi- means who- hard sound, Ki or qui.

Yes Andrea Bocelli is a blind opera singer, one of the best, and Celine Dion(a fellow Canadian) is the best female vocalist of this generation. Half-Italian here...On-Dray-Ah Bow-CHEL-Ee. Yes, as others have said, he is blind. The touching is both an emotional and physical connection. Since Andrea cannot see, I believe it helps him orient himself on the stage. He does this often with other singers, too. An absolutely beautiful rendition of this duet...Gives me the onions. And yes...you MUST listen to "Time to Say Goodbye" with Sarah Brightman.👍IMHO the 1997 version is the best.

Celine is one of my favorite singers ever. Seeing her perform has always been on my bucket list. She was finally coming to Salt Lake City, and my sisters got me a ticket for Christmas. I worked with a man in Chattanooga for 15 years who played football with Univ. of TN. He was like a refrigerator. Dude had huge hands. Anyway, this man adored opera. He had a sales call in Atlanta and he told me on the way back he was listening to the opera Madam Butterfly. He was so overwhelmed with emotion that he had pulled over on the interstate and wept. It's amazing what she can do with her voice from scatting / mimicing intstruments, I love her emotion, her power, her resonance, her softness - just everything about her. Check out Sarah Brightman and Andrea "Time to Say Goodbye". Sarah starred in the original London production as Christine in "Phantom of the Opera". Her voice is also phenomenal.
