Hi from Australia. I'm a 70yo woman, who, like everyone here adores John Farnham. He was made Pop King in Australia when he started making hits at the age of 18yo. He went quiet for about 10 years, then his friend Glen Wheately, a performer, then record producer (see Little River Band) came up with songs for a new album. That was the biggest coming of any singer here. The songs were amazing because they could only be sung by Johnny Farnham. They needed power. You really had to hear the voice to believe it!! To hear him sing, up to recently was breathtaking. Recently, Johnny has been absent due to cancer in his jaw, and everyone here is sad and praying for him. He's our treasure. He's given us everything he has. Do yourself a favour and find him on KZbin. They've made a doco about his life. The first hit was Sadie The Cleaning Lady. We love him so much!! ❤️

John is a legend in Australia. Most of his songs have great messages of unity, solidarity and fighting for the underdog. He is known as the Voice in Aus. Not just because his voice is instantly recognisable, but he has a powerful, pitch perfect voice with a huge range. He is an absolute icon here and is THE most.loved entertainer in Aussie history. He started with a number one hit as a teenager in 1967 which was the biggest hit ofnthe 60's decade...and he has has number one hits in every decade since then. Not just a musician and singer but also a bit of a commedian, an actor, mentor to other artists, humanitarian, philanthropist yet still just as humble as your average boy next door Ps. John Farnham alsk does the est ever cover of ACDC's It's a Long Way to the Top Pps. John is British Born Australian. He has also received the highest honours of Australian of the Year and also athe Order Of Australia medal...on top of decades of music industry awards and a chart busting award winning documentary about his life recently released.

The bagpipes are in this song because John is a massive, massive fan of AC/DC, and he covers 'Long Way To The Top'. First off…John is an Aussie icon…he has has been on our charts through the decades from the ‘60’s to the 90’s. Absolutely one rule for reacting to our John….live, always live!!!! The recordings are okay but his live shows are where the magic is. The concert John did with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is pretty much his penultimate concert and any track whatsoever from that concert is phenomenal…with “Help” and “You’re The Voice” being the two showstoppers. John is a people person and connects to his audiences, therefore, if the audience reacts, John will react back and make every single live performance epic…without any really conscious decision on his part..it’s just natural. ❤ Although I’d been a “Johnny” fan all my life (he has been an Aussie artist since the ‘60’s), when this song came out in 1986 when I was 15, I was 100% sure it would be a song that resounded through the years and would never be forgotten…now, 38 years later I still believe the same!!! ❤ This is not just a song about standing up against war but also about standing up against domestic violence, against stereotyping and demeaning individuals for their lifestyle choices (i.e. sexuality, how they live their personal lives etc,), but also about unity….

John Farnham (you’re pronouncing it perfectly) is an Aussie national treasure and he is the best male vocalist ever. He is incredibly talented and this song is and his voice, is still so needed today. He sounds even better live. Every Australian knows every word of this song and I wish it would become the world’s anthem today. I think he was actually born in Scotland, or his parents were, but he’s as Aussie as you get. 80’s icon and the most beloved musician. He has a lot of absolute bangers and is genuinely one of the nicest and down to earth people. He rocked the mullet. His first song he didn’t like singing because it’s a simple song and he was just a teenager, so it doesn’t show his range. He has a huuuge range and his voice was so powerful they had to dampen his mic. He sadly has suffered throat cancer in the last few years, so I don’t think he can sing well now. But he toured forever and always blew everyone away. He’s well known in the uk as well as other countries, but I know he never took off in the US. There’s a lot of live videos of him singing and a lot of duets. Some with fellow Aussie, Jimmy Barnes, as well as Tom Jones and some others. He often sang with Olivia-Newton John (RIP) from Grease, they were great friends. Anyway, thanks for reading my essay and definitely watch some live videos to be even more blown away.

He was born in England but grew up from a young age in Melbourne, Victoria about the same time as Olivia Newton John. As for bagpipes, yes they are a Scottish instrument but remember the 1st convicts came to Australia from Britain and they comprised of English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish and over the years the population grew from Great Britain. Most of the population are from there - having roots there, although in times since WWII there has been a influx from Greece, Italy, parts of Asia and parts of Arab countries.

Please, please watch this live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (1989). If for nothing other than to see John throw the mic stand across the stage then later kick it straight back up into his hand when he wanted it, without missing a note... So much warmth live, and so much talent. And the Bagpiper, live.

John Farnham (pronounced with the "H" silent... Far..nam) was born in England and immigrated to Australia with his family at 10yrs of age. John is Music Royality, an ICON in the Australian Music Industry, he has been impressing us with his talent for over 50 years. This song was released on 29 September 1986 as the hit single from the Whispering Jack Album, (which held the No. 1 position on the Australian Chart for a total of 25 weeks), "You're the Voice" went to No. 1 and has become an unofficial National Anthem. The song was written by English writers after missing a Nuclear Disarmament Protest in London in 1985. Here a "Live" version, as you will find out, with John it has to be "Live" kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ6VnpJvis6dqdE John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. . He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I should warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back and always keep an eye out for his "Ninja" style Mic & Stand tricks. John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. He replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" which broke the box office ("The Voice" is what he is affectionately known as here), he can sing anything and make it sound great, here's the trailer...kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqDGdJmZarV-qKc The next performance you should watch is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1989. a John Lennon number "Help", but John F's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound)... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqeYZZqfhLiFgdU Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold".

Brilliant post, I’m so glad you’re here because you saved me from having to write something very similar. The band, Heart also covered You’re The Voice, having performed it in their shows for a long time. SO many artists are Farnsy Fans, probably because of his beautiful soul and personality as much as for his awesome voice. 💜👍🏼🇦🇺

John Farnham hit all the notes all the time - saw him so many times in Sydney Australia and he is so vocally gifted and just a really nice, warm and ind soul. He did a short time after Glenn Shorrock left The Little River Band and the song with them you should listen to is 'Playing to Win'. This song unfortnately doesn't date because there are so many wars and conflicts in our world. He is a genuine lovely person and it is so sad a lifetime of smoking is probably the cause of the cancer in his jaw, such that he had to have part of his jaw removed and a prosthesis fitted. He may not sing again but he is a 'bloke' so he may well surprise us allHe is truly a blessing.

We love him, he's a national treasure! John "Farnsey" Farnham, known as "The Voice" here in Oz. Nic @ThatSingerReactions rates John as 1 of the greatest singers of all time. John can sing any genre, from rock to opera, ballads to soul. Always react to Aussie singers live. John has such a huge back catalogue. In Days to Come is another banger. As others have said, John's cover of the Beatles song Help - live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is a must listen to. Also "When something is wrong with my baby" with our other 🐐- Jimmy Barnes ❤ John also does Led Zeppelin's Black Dog as a mic check 🔥.
