One rule if you ever react to anything John Farnham. Always the "live" version. John is an entertainer, and if you watch his live performances, you'll understand why he connects with his audiences. (especially if it's with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra)

Some of his concerts (I think the One he did at Expo in 88 for Example?) They do the Beatles version first, then back it right up into his slower more soulful version. The juxtaposition really drives it home.

John is a legend in Australia. Most of his songs have great messages of unity, solidarity and fighting for the underdog. He is known as the Voice in Aus. Not just because his voice is instantly recognisable, but he has a powerful, pitch perfect voice with a huge range. He is an absolute icon here and is THE most.loved entertainer in Aussie history. He started with a number one hit as a teenager in 1967 which was the biggest hit ofnthe 60's decade...and he has has number one hits in every decade since then. Not just a musician and singer but also a bit of a commedian, an actor, mentor to other artists, humanitarian, philanthropist yet still just as humble as your average boy next door Ps. John Farnham alsk does the est ever cover of ACDC's It's a Long Way to the Top Pps. John is British Born Australian. He has also received the highest honours of Australian of the Year and also athe Order Of Australia medal...on top of decades of music industry awards and a chart busting award winning documentary about his life recently released.

Always best to see his live performances. “Help”, “A touch of Paradise”, “Angels”, to name a few. I saw him in concert in 2019, John was 70 and still as powerful as ever and hitting those high notes. The bagpipes are in this song because John is a massive, massive fan of AC/DC, and he covers 'Long Way To The Top'. In fact, in at least one live performance of this song, the bagpipes enter with the AC/DC solo before breaking into this solo. Rambo is Brett Garsed, played with John for a long, long time.

John Farnham … power singer from Australia, been singing to us since the lte 60s and on,y just stopped as he battled mouth cancer and has come through it. This song was John’s return from the musical wilderness … became his first hit in a while and was the forerunner to his explosion back onto the scene through the 80s to 2000s with hit after hit, magnificent concert after magnificent concert. Every Aussie knows this song. John was nicknamed “the voice” after this song. Legend, icon and damned nice man.

John Farnham (pronounced with the "H" silent... Far..nam) was born in England and immigrated to Australia with his family at 10yrs of age. John is Music Royality, an ICON in the Australian Music Industry, he has been impressing us with his talent for over 50 years. This song was released on 29 September 1986 as the hit single from the Whispering Jack Album, (which held the No. 1 position on the Australian Chart for a total of 25 weeks), "You're the Voice" went to No. 1 and has become an unofficial National Anthem. The song was written by English writers after missing a Nuclear Disarmament Protest in London in 1985. Here a "Live" version, as you will find out, with John it has to be "Live" kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ6VnpJvis6dqdE John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. . He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I should warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back and always keep an eye out for his "Ninja" style Mic & Stand tricks. John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. He replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" which broke the box office ("The Voice" is what he is affectionately known as here), he can sing anything and make it sound great, here's the trailer...kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqDGdJmZarV-qKc The next performance you should watch is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1989. a John Lennon number "Help", but John F's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound)... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqeYZZqfhLiFgdU Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold".

John started his career in the late 60's as a teenager in Melbourne, Australia. Many other international artists have said that John is one of the best vocalists in the world. He did for a short time venture into the waters of America but he is huge on family and decided to forgo fame and fortune and put his family first. He is a beautiful person, very humble has performed with many of the greats around the world. He is Australia's golden son and we love him dearly. John was still performing up until a few years ago ( roughly 72 years of age and still killing the vocals) then was diagnosed with mouth cancer has made a recovery but hasn't sang again.

John Farnham hit all the notes all the time - saw him so many times in Sydney Australia and he is so vocally gifted and just a really nice, warm and ind soul. He did a short time after Glenn Shorrock left The Little River Band and the song with them you should listen to is 'Playing to Win'. This song unfortnately doesn't date because there are so many wars and conflicts in our world. He is a genuine lovely person and it is so sad a lifetime of smoking is probably the cause of the cancer in his jaw, such that he had to have part of his jaw removed and a prosthesis fitted. He may not sing again but he is a 'bloke' so he may well surprise us allHe is truly a blessing.

You have to watch him sing this live...John also does a fire version of 'It's a long way to the top' and one of his most gorgeous songs is 'touch of paradise' dive in please to John Farnham, especially live, he goes off and he's so charismatic on stage just a phenomenal performer and human being. We love him, he's a national treasure! Something is wrong with my baby" Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham really shows his vocal range and if you haven't heard of Jimmy Barnes...well another Aussie icon from the band Cold Chisel.

Please, please watch this live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (1989). If for nothing other than to see John throw the mic stand across the stage then later kick it straight back up into his hand when he wanted it, without missing a note... (a bit of a thing he did here and there) but also for the sheer (not auto-tuned) power and precision, the audience participation and the whole BIG performance. He's a lovely man to watch. So much warmth live, and so much talent. And the Bagpiper, live.

‘Rambo’ dude is Brett Garsed, maybe 21 at the time, mostly a self taught shredder back then. Became known as for his legato and hybrid picking technique, and slide. Great guitarist and a great person. Played with John for a couple of years, went to the US for a decade or so, can back and slotted straight back into the John Farnham band which he stayed with from then on, while doing other projects as well.

He is a much loved and iconic Australian singer who not only has a fantastic voice but an extraordinary capacity to engage an audience. He performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - if you want a treat check out him singing Help (and this song) at this concert. It is special.

Fun Fact - our amazing John never warms up before any concert, he just goes out and opens up those phenomenal pipes. Even at 69 years of age, he was still belting out those tunes close to perfect as when he was half his age. Note: This fun fact was shared direct from his own son Robert in a podcast interview recently, and though I have grown up with him being as much a part of Australia as anything else from birth, I never knew this til about a week ago. He is one of the best vocalists in the world, period. He can sing anything....seriously. From Led Zepelin's Black Dog to Jesus Christ Superstar and everything in between. Its a deep rabbit hole you have just entered into. So many great recommendations below so, have fun :)

He holds a record for having a number one hit in five consecutive decades. From his classic first Hit Sadie the cleaning lady to his reimagining of the Beatle Help as a Ballard (cliché but the version from his concert with the Melbourne symphony orchestra the best). He has done pop, rock blues the only thing he hasn't done is heavy metal. Sadly he has suffered a major health problem with cancer of the mouth requiring surgery which his family says he is recovering from slowly

John is GOAT as far as Australia is concerned, we have been fortunate in Australia to have bands and artists that are more than equal to what was in the rest of the world, and if you care to dive down the rabbit hole you will be more than pleasantly surprised. and to answer your question, yes he could hit those notes live, just watch some of his KZbin concert video's

Yes, John Farnham is music royalty. He grew up in Melbourne in Australia which has a large Scottish heritage - possibly which helped with the bagpipes influence as was for ACDC you commented on. You really need to review some "Cold Chisel" with lead singer Jimmy Barnes who was born in Scotland and also immigrated to Australia at a young age. An amazing voice and Australian rock icon.

Simply brilliant, music of my youth. John Peter Farnham, AO is an Australian singer and has been one of the most famous and successful musicians in his home country for decades. Farnham also had a number one hit in several European countries in 1987 with the song You're the Voice.

Probably worth mentioning that John Farnham was in major financial difficulties and had sold his house and car to keep the debt collectors off his back when he recorded this in the basement of the place he was renting. He also couldn't get a major label to take a risk on him and sign for the song which had to be released on his manager's independent label. The song went on to be hugely popular and the album on which it appears is the highest selling album by any Australian in Australia.
