Hey, friend. I appreciate you giving me the time of day, even if you didn't like my reaction in this reaction video. Because of how KZbin works, I can't simply just let the song play through without adding my commentary. If this can be seen as a suitable replacement for listening to the original song (like letting it play all the way through without commentary), I am effectively stealing content. I recognize my style of commentary isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I thank you for stopping by, even if only to be critical, and wish you a happy and blessed life.

John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, flawless as always live, no auto tune etc, John can sing anything, any genre including opera. He’s just an epic performer, musician and vocalist who is just there for the love of the music, his fellow musicians and his fans. John is better live than anyone studio, he’s just got everything, and then there’s those trademark mic and mic stand tricks like in this as seen from behind in front of the drummer, throwing the mic stand meters into the air and catches it on the way down while still singing, and spinning it around like a ninja, he’s simply perfection in every way. And a lot of John’s songs are like this with an important message to convey, of love, unity, respect etc.

At the time this song was originally released not a single American record company would sign him up. Great loss for America. To put his ‘legend’ status in perspective, this CLASSIC JACK concert was recorded in 1989 when he was 40. It was 22 years after his first number one single (1967, aged 18) and 27 years before his last number one album, a Christmas one with Olivia Newton-John (2016, aged 67). Number one albums and/or singles in every decade in between.

He didn't want to be away from his family so wasn't keen on touring overseas. Also, he didn't need to. His concerts in Australia were always sold out and he kept having number one hits over 50 years of music. He is one of the nicest people you could ever meet and was a great supporter of charity events. He always showed great love and support for his musicians and backing singers and they loved him back. He treated everyone with respect. He was also a great comedian and made everyone laugh. He was the kind of person you would be blessed to have as a friend.

John Lennon said himself that Johns version of HELP was how he wanted it sung. John has performed with Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Cold Play, Richard Marx, Tom Jones, Brian May. Freddy Mercury said John had the best voice on the planet and he was asked to front Queen when Freddy passed, but he didn't want to be away from his family so much. He has done movie sound tracks - RAD, Savage Streets. He just loves performing, he loves his band and was singing like this right up until his 70s. His stage presence and mic craft is second to none. We just adore him and there is just no one better. His studio recordings are fantastic, but he's just even better live because of his love for people and gives 110% might after night. Great reaction, thank you for doing more of John! He is brilliant in so, so many ways. His voice obviously, his stage presence, his warmth and love for his audience, his desire to make them part of the experience, and yes, his songs often have a great message, because he's also a beautiful, generous, warm, and humble human being despite his phenomenal talent. This is why we love him so! Believe it or not, for the decade or so before the album this song is off (which came out in 1986), John was in career doldrums, he was totally broke, and the music industry wanted nothing to do with him. The album this is off is the first time John ever had creative control over his music, and it's what turned everything around for him. Almost 40 years later, that album (Whispering Jack) is still the biggest selling album by an Australian artist here. This song was the first and biggest single off it, and gave him his nickname "The Voice". Hope to see you do more John! Concerts that are great starting points are this one with the MSO, Chain Reaction concert, Whispering Jack concert, Expo '88 concert, but there is so much more of John than just the 80s-90s part of his career as well!

So there is lots to look now with all the genre’s he does perfectly and as well he has had multiple artist’s from around the world come and want to sing with him some are Ray Charles, Tina Turna, Caine Dion, Richard Marks, Tom Jones and the list goes on and on. Thank you for making my day. ❤❤❤ I did see your reaction to "Help" last year, hoped you would continue down the rabbit hole. 🤩 John is an ICON in the Australian Music Industry. This was the hit single from the Whispering Jack Album, (which held the No. 1 position for a total of 25 weeks), "You're the Voice" went to No. 1 and has become an unofficial National Anthem. Always keep an eye out for his "mic & stand" tricks. The song is about Nuclear Disarmament. John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. . He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Oliver Newton-John, Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a few links to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL 😂 if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back. He is the most down to earth person, humble, funny and extremely talented. John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. He replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. American labels didn't want to sign John as they couldn't pigeonhole his style. Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold". They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" which broke the box office ("The Voice" is what he is affectionately known as here), he can sing anything and make it sound great. He really lets it rip when he performs live. His studio recordings pale in comparison because he holds back. He will use more falsetto and head voice but live he actually BELTS. And he turns on that gritty sound a lot more whereas studio recordings from memory are a lot cleaner? If that's the right word - boring in comparison because you don't get to see all he has to offer. Please do more John Farnham Live!!! Here for it all! I also think he's up there with a rare few and is almost incomparable.

Thank you for revisiting The Voice. I saw that concert when the tour came to Brisbane and I was high on endorphins for days. I was seated adjacent to the orchestra and they were having the time of their lives, giving evidence to what I suspect - that scratch the surface of a classical musician and you'll find a headbanger trying to get out. The full concert is available on KZbin and it's stellar from start to finish. A couple of random facts about this song: Co-writer of You're The Voice, Chris Thompson of British group Manfred Mann fame, refused Farnham permission to record the song as he only knew him for the novelty hit Sadie and thought he was a joke. Farnham ignored him and recorded it anyway, so determined was he. His manager and best friend, Glenn Wheatley, had so much faith in John that he'd mortgaged his home to finance the recording. Thompson spoke somewhat ruefully on Farnham's biopic Finding The Voice about his reaction when he found out, which was none too happy, but it was too late. And the rest as they say.... The bagpipe solo changed the key of the song. Originally written in G, the song was detuned to F when the bagpipe player broke the news that bagpipes are tuned in Bb.

I don't know of any other artist in the WORLD that has the sort of talent in entertaining, performing, and his around personailty that John has. He is one of a kind for sure.

I LOVE YOUR REACTION!!! Fantastic reaction, really really beautiful. I love that you appreciate him, and the words of the song so much!!! He is our (Australia's) greatest singer ever!!! In fact, I think he is the greatest singer ever in the world. And I love you for giving such a beautiful appraisal of this beautiful man singing this fantastic song. Thank you.

He was in Little River Band for a while. He is definitely an Aussie legend, he is so loved over here ❤

I worked at this concert in late 1989 and it was fantastic with the Melbourne Symphony orch as backup. PS you mentioned reviewing Help which was his final encore for the night, and you could tell he was knackered by then. 🤗👍

I would point out that Australians adore Farnham…we have seen him grow for his entire public life…he is a decent man, and we were all rooting for him…Whispering Jack was exactly what he needed, and it was a vehicle for us to show our love for him. He is the beloved.

He is…the greatest. Just watch, and listen. Amazing. Thank you John. A battler who finally became the superstar. A maestro. Ultra talent. God preserve you.

Thank you for the commentary. It's great to hear your opinion and the background to it. OMG, don't tell us to give you a playlist for our GOAT? Australian here. You'll have a never ending channel.

Thank you for this great reaction to our Aussue legend. If you keep reacting to Farnsey, the Aussies will flock to your channel and subscribe. There's never been anyone in the world quite like our John. He's totally amazing. I've seen him in concert dozens of times, and I've never heard sing a bad note, even when he's bending over shaking hands or accepting flowers and other gifts. He is a great humanitarian. He loves his audiences and he loves performing, which you can clearly see by the big smiles on his face when he's up there on the stage. Always, always react to him live. His studio albums are fantastic but he truly shines in live performances. Please could you react to John Farnham singing 'All Our Sons And Daughters' live from the Chain Reaction concert.

Love your reaction to our John. If you want goose bumps again, try John singing Marys Boy Child and You will Never Walk again. It is live in Melbourne for Carols by Candlelight at Christmas.

Thanks mate! Great reaction 😊 'The Voice' singing The Voice, it definitely does not get more special than that. I can not listen to this song without getting a little emotional. Farnsey's passion and the message of this song just does something to me, and I couldn't be more proud to be an Aussie when I hear it. Love you Farnsey!! 😍 I hope you will listen to more. Try older John singing Please Don't Ask Me with Olivia Newton-John RIP ❤ Their duet is legendary 🙂❤❤

Was written by English songwriters Chris Thompson, Maggie Ryder, Andy Khunta and Keith Reid. Thompson came up with the idea for the song after oversleeping and missing a massive nuclear disarmament march that he'd wanted to be at.

John is the world's best male vocalist hands down and please react to Tina Arena singing Chains at the world music awards, the world's best female vocalist. Both aussie legends. Decades of hits. Thank you. ❤🇦🇺

He is a musical king. He's been singing since the 60's. I grew up listening to him. I highly recommend Playing to win & It's a long way to the top from this same concert.

Of course John’s version was better than the Beatles. He was also a heavy smoker and yet could still produce this voice. He, in my opinion, is one of the best singers in the world.

Not everyone catches the mike stand throw in the video. I’ve seen him 6 times over the years and this was always part of his act. He didn’t always catch it so then he would flick it up with his foot. They always had spare Mike stands in the wings as some came off very damaged. Total class act. It’s a shame the KZbin reactors only found him after his mouth cancer as otherwise I’m sure he would have enjoyed touring on the back of this resurgence.

Welcome to the rabbit hole that is John Farnham! Like so many people, I have been lucky enough to see him live on 3 or 4 occasions and he has always given 110%. He loved his audiences, and always gave credit to his musicians and his backing singers. I loved your reaction! If you want to see an older John, you should check out this link to him in 2003, singing "When the War is Over" - it will blow you away. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJbOk6migd-AjcUsi=iTpKByQWIezJenLb

John Farnham is the GOAT. Would you believe the guy that wrote the song was upset when he heard that John had recorded it? That is until he heard him and was absolutely blown away with the recording.😊♥️
@ChantellHoskinhАй бұрын
the bag pipes were added into the original song - the song writers didn't want John Farnham to perform it - he recorded it without permission with the bag pipes and the rest is history he got the permission. Not a single Australian label would sign him and difficult to get radio play. His Manager - Glenn created his own label and made it happen.

Liked and Subbed. This was one of 3 'enchores' that night so it took it to nearly 3 hours show.....and he 'IS THE VOICE' for us Aussies.

Your comment up front about John's version of Help was, I understand, echoed by John Lennon who reportedly said John's version was the way he intended it to be sung....

He's just released his Autobiography called The Voice Inside. He reads it on Audible. This is after is recent almost fatal mouth cancer battle where they've removed significant amounts of his jaw. He's still fighting and it's a beautiful insight into a wonderful human.
