When he says Michael Michael Thriller, I think that's a double cause Michael Myers was in the thriller Halloween. And right before that line he says psycho psycho killer. And Psycho was another thriller that was created by Alfred Hitchcock. Then he comes back around saying he holds a knife in his right hand and a Mic stand in his left. In both movies, knives were used as the murder weapon and Em murders people on the Mic. The whole scheme had multiple meanings actually. He's so damn clever.

When you listen his some of his interviews and realize how many hours that man has spent with his pen to hone his craft with words, you stop wondering how he is so good. Most people are not ready to put in those hours that he has done. And not just with pen and paper but with following the world. When you listen his lyrics it is clear that he follows anything and everything. I have checked some of these lyrics from Eminem's own site, since being non native speaker it is impossible to catch this stuff. My English skills aren't just on that level and probably never will be. But it mentions the Cannon thing in the same way you did in there so I'm pretty sure you can mark yourself being right there. But there was other place too where there is reference to Cannon ("I have the right to remain violent. Any rhyme that I say can and will be used against you") and the explanation in there said that it was warning shot to Cannon.
@KnoxHill4 жыл бұрын
Well said and put 👏 He’s just grown so much as an artist over the years, but he’s also constantly expanding his mind with pop culture, history, music, so many subjects that he references throughout his music. Like he spoon-fed it to us with his syncapation and enunciation imo. I believe with all my heart that was directed at Nick, and what he's telling him is that he's givin him all the ammunition he would ever need to dismantle dudes life and it wouldn't even be out of spite or malice, but rather because Em doles out justice for the critics and the haters- in his mind, that is. I interpreted this as him describing the internal mayhem in his brain, the conflicting self-doubt and pride that are fueled by his doubters and detractors and stans, as the little engine that drives him to excel beyond everyone else. For example, when the woman in the store says "You're on fire; I heard you're back with the Doc", he says what he heard was, "Little Engine Go!" and he spills into the internal drive again. The woman is basically saying his music is going to be fire, she isn't concerned about it, but all he hears is the need to push himself, to grind, to buckle down and GO! He can't even take the complement as anything more than a new expectation he has to surpass. It is reminiscent of a sort of mania.

I don't know if it ever got mentioned but the "code name Titanium Temple" was a reference to The Titanium Temple Collection of sunglasses (also known as SHADEs = Shady) made with real blue glass lenses. It all goes back to the lines on (evil intent/ evil in tint), like me in a limo = Like the shade in these windows (referencing both the limo's window tint & Slim Shady being in the limo's window as well wearing shades) Smoke gray, ladies go mental But no way they can see in though (they go crazy bc they know he's in there even though they can't see him but also a reference to not being able to see through his dark side= the tint on the windows again, & Shady as well as the fact "smoke gray" could be for the fact he's on fire also blocking the view). His being on fire is also referenced in the OJ blade is a pencil line next . Propane takin' my cranium (propane also explosive just like Em & all the ideas coming from his mind) Hope that helps on the Code-name Titanium Temple line

“Jaysin The Sin God is an Independent Rap Artist & Founder of The Sin Militia.” I honestly have never heard of Jaysin, but it would appear that he is part of those references leading up to Jay Leno. I also thought there was a reference to Jay-Z. I could be totally wrong. You are my favorite person to watch who “reacts” to videos. I put reacts in quotations because I feel like you are more of a dissector. Instead of rushing to get your video out there as fast as possible, like many YT reactors, you are more concerned with breaking down rhyme schemes thoroughly and correctly. I have so much respect for that. I also like that if you don’t know what certain things are, like titanium temple, you don’t just guess or pretend to know. You will ask your audience comment below if they know. That’s so awesome! Especially because you are so good at dissecting these bars, and you have a vast amount of knowledge about music, history, word play and pop culture. You could easily just skip over those bars, or you could reach and just make an educated guess. However, you genuinely want to know the true meaning and/or purpose of the bar. Thanks Knox. Your time is so appreciated!

I too thought of the Canon subtle mentioning... Its pretty clever how em uses “can and” as a homophone with ‘Cannon’. Rather than reigniting the beef, these lyrics therefore doubles as a warning to Nick.

Rick Roll was a trolling thing where you would watch a video and all of a sudden, it would cut to Rick Astley's video "Never Gonna Give You Up". If this happened, you got "Rick Rolled" 🤷🏻♀️ 2008 was a weird year lol

Yo you really need to LISTEN to Em. This entire song is based around battling voices in his head. 2 personalities. You can hear them arguing in the adlibs throughout the whole track. This is why reviewers in media should not be writing about rap like this. You can't spin MTBMB in one go and think you understood everything happening. No shot. Em loves comics and movies. He literally structures every song around individual concepts that relate to the entire body of work. Its nuts. Yeah people in the club don't bop Em, but shits like reading a dope book or watching a dope movie. Hes really the only true MC left alive. Him, Kendrick and Cole are the only ones who rap how its meant to be done. No shortcuts
