Doesn't matter who it is, everyone loves Dave Grohl. Kind of like everyone likes Keanu Reeves, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson. They are just down-to-earth, stand-up people, despite their fame and wealth.

A little nice story about this song! David Letterman when he had his heart attack and was stuck in the hospital Listened to this album and this song so much! A few years later when he was retiring, for his last show he had the Foo Fighters play and had them play this song at the end of the broadcast. He credits them and this song to keep him going after the heart attack and just told them he will always be greatful for it!

I highly recommend the song "Times Like These." It was written at a time when it looked like the band was going their separate ways. They play it at every concert to remind themselves how good they have it. It takes on new meaning after their drummer OD'ed in 2022. I highly recommend you watch the version from his memorial concert.

Dave was a punk rocker. The coolest thing about Dave is how humble and fan friendly he is. Got a heart of gold. You should check out some of their live performances when they bring someone out of the audience to play with them on stage. One simple kind gesture from the band will change some fans life. It's something they don't have to do but do it for the fans.

He also was in Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers for a hot minute. Played a handful of gigs, including IIRC an SNL spot, but he decided to turn down their offer to join full time because it wasn't the right time for him to get back into a band full time.
@alexanderwilkins44962 ай бұрын
One of my favorite details I learned about this song later in life is that Dave approached this song (songwriting wise) as a drummer. He translated his time signatures with drums to guitar which explains some of the tones he achieves and the synchronization. If you have a moment, Dave gives an explanation to the meaning of the song, complete with his life at that moment post Nirvana, with a live acoustic performance. In the striped down version you can really see his explanation in real time.

Dave Grohl is a huge Led Zeppelin fan. His musical inspiration on drums was the late great John Bonham of LZ. The Foo Fighters were part of the Kennedy Center Honors performances in honor of Led Zeppelin. Also, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones joined the Foo Fighters at Wembley where the band covered two Led Zeppelin songs. Dave frequently mentions Led Zeppelin in interviews. Dave Grohl attended the Led Zeppelin Celebration Day O2 concert which was the first time they performed together in over 20+ years with John Bonham’s son Jason on the drums. This concert holds the record for most request for tickets with over 20M people worldwide tried to get seats. Please react to Kashmir from the O2 concert as the older guys showed why they (Led Zeppelin) are one of the best bands ever.

About a year after Kurt died, Dave came out with his first FF album. I remember the CD cover he was smiling in the picture on the back. It was hard to see him smiling considering that Kurt was dead. Dave wrote all the songs for his first album and played all of the instruments. The first album meandered between punk and pop. Some heaver punk sounding songs: "This is a Call", "Wattershed", "Weenie Beenie", "Xstatic". He moved to a little bit more of a pop sound with "Big Me" - which the music video for was for Mentos! Those were the big songs from this album. Then came the 2nd Album "The Color and the Shape". The first song "Monkey Wrench" showed his sound was way more polished, and got the energy going from the start. This song you listed to here is on that 2nd album. There are so many great songs from this album. As for the rest of his albums, other huge hits are "All My Life", "Best of You", "In Your Honor", "Learn to Fly", "Long Road to Ruin", "No Way Back", "Times Like These", "February Stars". Foo Fighters have so many great songs. Dave was indicted twice into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame --- 1st for Nirvana and 2nd for Foo Fighters. They have so many Emmys and golden globes. There's lots of great songs to explore.
