Laplus has mentioned in the past that she just LOVES Kiara's song (DO U), hence why it's not surprising she picked it for the medley. The mirror image dancers is also part of the original MV where Kiara also dances in a black and white version of her original outfit. Laplus is one of the best dancers in Hololive alongside Bae and Kobo, so it's not surprise she totally rocked that tune!

For the guitar, base and drums which kinda triggered you I have to point out they used actual players but they didn't use the same setup for the drums mainly because it was a lot easier and didn't look too complicated as far as I've read. Edit: Also funny thing to mention, the fried chicken Fubuki grabs is actual fried chicken they made and 3D scanned for this lol. The song outfits that Okayu and Korone use are their respective Doggy God's Street and Kamisama Nekosama outfits which neither of them had properly used either so it felt special and during the proposal when they are putting the rings on you can see Risu hiding on the left side behind a cloud watching. Another thing to point out that plenty missed is that the one falling at the beginning isn't Shion but Chloe who is still wearing Shion's clothes and is meant to be a continuation of the previous medley. Lastly I was not disappointed in your reaction to Senchou, there's currently a nice joke saying that Ina can't use that dress anymore due to how stretched it is.

I fully agree with your thoughts at the end, Roar. I’ve sadly had friendships literally shredded because I brought up the fact that I’m into Vtubers. The frothing hatred and especially their inability to even articulate WHY they hate them is disgusting. I dislike things that my actual friends enjoy, but I can explain and debate in a calm manner why I dislike them and we can agree to disagree. The fact that some haters don’t even know why they hate something, be it Vtubers, political stances, religions or what have you, is a very dangerous thing. There is this stereotypical perception, among normies especially, that people ABSOLUTELY MUST *’ACT THEIR AGE’* and have nothing in their heads but money, work, cars, barbells, girls and some pointless mature vice like weed, alcohol, gambling or something that has little to no substance and depth - and anything that does not conform to that societal narrative of ‘one of us, slaving away at life for those in charge like the rest of us, pursuing superficial goals like the rest of us, wasting away at mindless entertainment like the rest of us’ should have those interests and those people be shunned, hated or otherwise ostracized in any an all manners and ways without even sparing a thought as to why they should, or why people are into those niche things they know nothing about. It is the common thought that all a man should think of is ‘muscles, chicks, cars and money’ and everything else is meaningless, for they should stay muscle brained, that way they are more easily made to do as the people in charge deem suitable. I deem such oppressive mindsets as an insult to human intelligence and creativity. However, I take solace in the fact that those who think that wall will never know the finer things in life, the more cerebral, the more… cultured things, and journeys and stories of deep thought, emotion and enjoyment. At the very least, until they are willing to open their minds and expand their horizons instead of just hating something because they do not know or because it does not match their ideology or programming.

gotta love the details with all of Gamers pretty much swapping outfits and them pretty much having parts of umisea rep with the most lewd of umisea dressing up as the most wholesome member of them and EN fish dressing up as JP fish with gura pretty much handing the next part to Okayu ( fish to cat) who is a big fan of gura and Okakoro being all thats needed for the planets to align and give us THE SINGERS of each branch. it all just done so perfectly. the bit with gen 2 being on the cards is a nod to exodia a pretty much you win no matter what in yugioh and its super rare to get have them all together. and Gen 2 rarely ever does meet up for collabs but when they do it always something amazing.

In the beginning years, Cover Corp's CEO said that Hololive was meant to be idol-like, akin to the AKB48 Japanese idol group. That's why the direction of the talents and productions have this idol element to them as a goal. Of course, we laugh, we still make memes and jokes about his idol dream being dead and alive from time to time when they do un-idol-like things. But in the end, he achieved great success. What he had offered to the world and these girls (and boys), is an avenue to be the idol of their dreams. Without the cutthroat or slanderous real world environment and prejudice against their real bodies, where their 3D avatars protect their IRL identities, and all that is asked of them is to put in their own hard work and achieve their own idol dreams and by extension, the company's. Detractors would use to say they should never need these silly idol obligations just because other companies aren't doing so, but they ignore the fact that as a Japanese company, "idols" are an integral part of their (sub)culture. These young adults aren't dumb either - They could have chosen other companies, yet applying to hololive (multiple times even) was the decision they consciously made, knowing that they will go down the idol route.

@ROARTHERAPPER the Yu-Gi-Oh things on ayame parts are the EXODIA, it need 5 body part card to be on the hand, and it will combine and summon exodia, the effect are instant win, but the chance for it to happen in a match is so low. the correlation are to the 2nd generation of hololive which the member are Ayame,Shion,Subaru,Aqua,Choco they are almost never able to be on the same stream collab,stage,etc compared to other generation. so they just decide to accept that their gen nickname will be EXODIA.

Really proud to see all their hard work paid off (and I'm not only talking about the talents, but also all the staff involved) Little rant here, sorry: I already said it on another channel, but I wish people remind themselves that there is talents on the other side of the screen tirelessly busting their asses, real people with real lives and real emotions. They're not products or tools just there for our entertainment. The year has just begun and yet, I've seen people complaining about the postponed Advent's outfit reveal relay because in their words "Why Cover is trying to rob them of their moment" or "They're not even in Japan, why is it postponed?" ... Good morning/afternoon/evening, whenever you read this. I've watched your videos for a while so I want to ask if you are considering watching any Hololive 3d concerts (of course that are free)? I know it takes pretty much time even with cutted unsubbed conversations and as far as i'm concerned you mostly do analysis while reacting so i would be hard cos there's no CCs on these. Concerts are very well done technically and vocally and i personally enjoy them, so may be you give it a try

I was really surprised by the Holo NY concert. Lots of fun combinations for the regular performances, an extended Hologra skit, a really fun Medley, and then more great performances to cap it off. And it was all free and felt more high-effort than a lot of their regular paid shows. Just shows what happens when the company puts the money its making back into the talents and content. I've got Okayu's album! It's pretty good. I'd say only about half to 2/3 of it is really "must-listen" stuff, but the rest of it is perfectly fine as well. I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up, personally, as the lyrics are really nothing special -- like with most Japanese pop music, you might even be better off ignoring the lyrics for most of the songs, as they're overall inconsequential at best, and vapid at worst. ;) It's all about the singing and the instrumentals, and in those regards, it's a really solid album. Personal highlights (aside from Mogu Mogu Yummy, which was the first Hololive song I ever got hooked on) include Akanbee, Pabo, and the two sequels to Doggy God's Street: Okayu's own "Grr Grr Tummy," and the Okayu + Korone duet, "Orange Parade" (so titled because purple + yellow = orange!). Neither of which really holds a candle to Doggy God's Street, but they're both still really cool followups, and Orange Parade is cute because it's an original song made specifically for and about Okakoro as a pair. Every single track from the album is available to listen to on YT, though, and there's even a live performance of Orange Parade available to watch, from Okayu's 2022 concert in Tachikawa. So you can always "try before you buy," as it were, and see if it really is worth your money. But I think it's pretty likely it will be -- I mean, it's Okayu! Hard to be disappointed with a whole album of Okayu music. Her voice is one of the best in Hololive IMHO.

So the Yu-Gi-Oh cards in the Ayame as Lui bit are a reference to the arms and legs of Exodia, just with Shion's arms and legs instead. An interesting thing I noticed between both the 2023 and 2024 Shuffle Medleys is that they have gone out of their way to not show Shion's face in any way. Her hat is constantly tilted in such a way to hide her face, even from the side views. And the "Head of Exodia" card is missing. I'm assuming this is because she's not one of the performers in either.

Shion’s card is the second from the left (her right hand). From left to right, the cards are: Subaru (leg), Shion (hand), Aqua (hand), and Choco (leg). The card that’s “missing” is Ayame’s. As for the shuffle opening, that’s Chloe. Notice the extra shade in some part.

"Mogu Mogu Yummy!": eating all types of food, as a metaphor of embracing all that life has to offer, positive and negative. 02. "Grrr Grrr Tummy": taking it easy and living life on your own terms. 03. "Akkanbe" (my favorite): a bit abstract but overall it conveys a feeling of frustration with someone's attitude, with lines like "I'm trying to figure out how much should I tolerate". 04. "Pabo": criticizes hierarchical structures and being a slave to your work. 05. "adieu, Salauds": someone trying to hide their vulnerable side. 06. "Doku no Oujisama": a relationship based on lies. 07. "Kamisama Nekosama": motivational song full of lines like "you get a perfect score just for existing", "you should be proud of yourself", and so on. It seems ironic to me, but I'm not sure. 08. "Swallow the venom": releasing a destructive impulse. 09. "kohakutou": revealing your true self. 10. I enjoyed hearing the girls sing each other's songs. The fact that they were wearing each other's outfits was a nice treat, too. Some looked cute and fitting, like Gura dressed as Chloe or Kobo dressed as Bae, and then there were instances like with Kanata dressed as Choco & Marine dressed as Ina. So many of the Hololive girls when they were streaming watchalongs freaked out when those moments happened. I hope that you consider reacting to the Holostars New Year's stream that they had going on alongside the Hololive girls' special. While the guys of Holostars didn't have a Shuffle Medley, they did perform a cover of a song called Connecting that I liked, so if you would prefer reacting to certain parts rather than the whole stream, that is one performance that I hope you take into consideration. There were some songs performed during the Holostars stream where the guys sang alongside some of the Hololive girls, specifically Ollie, Iofi, Kobo, and Bae.

They used the same concept for their first video of the year last year as well; the beginning of this one is actually an easter egg referring to that video, the location being the same before the beam blast, and, well...that isn't Shion. 😉 ETA: The 2023 Shuffle Medley is uploaded as a standalone video on the Hololive main channel. I know this comment is WAAAY late, but as I did not see a response about Korone's outfit swap into Okayu's Shrine Goddess outfit, i figured I could give a little enlightenment. Fun fact: Okayu never wore those clothes. It was only featured in her animated MV, and that was in 2D. This 3D performance is the first time people have seen it as a 3D render. Also, Korone's Rollerskate Waitress outfit was given the same treatment. It was not an outfit Korone has ever worn, just an animated cartoon on her original music video on Doggy God Street. This meddley basically had Okayu and Korone unlock each other's "secret" outfit. Even if it was just for one use only, it was a great debut for these never-to-be-seen-again looks.😂
