I never ever thought my favorite solo would be by Jisoo. Not that I don't like her, but so far her voice and personality in the songs have been muted cause she's a "quiet fire" that wasn't given the chance to show her full potential cause the other flames were always louder, not better, not worse, just louder and more in your face. But Jisoo ended up being BP's silent deadly weapon. Honestly, BP have been kinda all over the place the past few working group years. There's been bops, for sure. And all the solos have been great bops. But the others had BlackPink as the main character, not the soloist. In Flower, Jisoo is the main character and BlackPink is (for me) mainly shown in the MV and the choice to work with different instrumentals. But even that felt also completely Jisoo, this whole song is simply Jisoo. Elegant, poetic, subtle and powerful, retro done modern, felt like something that will become a classic. Not as from "Lisa from BlackPink" but as Jisoo's, household name. The lyrics are very clear, but the metaphor of the flower being used throughout the song made it so very old-school in the best of ways. She truly showed how to be a bad bitch in the classiest of ways. Not saying being overtly sexy and hard as a bad bitch isn't just as wicked, they're both fantastic, I love CL, Hwa Sa, Jessi, Lisa, and so many women who are changing the kpop industry and being empowering and showing kpop in general you don't need to play a part for the duration you're an idol. You CAN be yourself, show flaws and different perspectives, be relatable for real. I just never ever seen bad bitch done in such sweet and elegant way. When lyricists use metaphors and elegance and classy efuemisms, it's usually for a soloist or band with 1 or 2 vocalists, and it's usually for older people. But this song is funkaaaaaay!!! Catchy, an absolute BOP, a dream to choreograph (but the official choreo is already perfect). It all fits! It all makes sense as Jisoo's song. BP needs to learn from their own success and lean into their humanity more as a group and soloist. Jisoo was the only one who managed to be 100% herself, and still have an "aura" of BlackPink. It's so subtle. I see it mainly in the videography of the MV, the quality of the choreo, the way is shot, the artistry of the instrumentals. For non-koreans who know some older korean music, this is such an amazing way to modernize an older style korean music. Not just meaning kpop. The instrumentals were perfection, and the intonation of her voice + how she enunciates certain words is like a fever dream of older songs, it's so weird but it works so well. And making her own voice an instrument is so very BlackPink, but it only helps to show Jisoo as the singer of this song, not just a "solo project". It's amazing. I'm amazed. I hope they can recreate that with BP in general. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE MV AND THE CHOREO! THEY'RE ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! THE WARDROPE AND MAKEUP DEPARTMENT SLAYED. THE ENTIRE THING IS GORGEOUS!

My twitter tl is filled of people complimenting her, recommended yt videos are of people loving it, shorts with lots of love to the song and Jisoo. Well, it's understandable, I guess. You can't please 100% of the audience, never. But it is really too bad for the people who didn't like this and didn't get to experience this amazing feeling only music can give us. So pleasant and exhilarating! But I've been on the other side of the coin and didn't like something other people felt so passionate about. It's not fun =/ But again, no one can please everyone.
