Craig and Sid kicked ass on this song. There contributions really gave it that extra something. I love them being in the band. The Bring such a unique style and sound to the band

That song is like listening to 2 personalities, on both sides of a mirror, speaking to the same person, who's locked inside an oubliette. Then as the psycho circus solo begins, it seems that both personalities combine, open the prison door yet pray for them to be a victim of munchausen by proxy. Damn that song is fucking awesome.

I live in Iowa, and when this album dropped, the Des Moines register had an entire column it it about this song alone

The best explanation for this song, and how well it works, is “it’s Slipknot”, they can make just about anything work, and sound good as fuck

By the way the entire Volume 3 album is a masterpiece. It was produced by Rick Rubin (of RunDMC Beastie Boys fame among many other rock bands as well) But also it was recorded in Harry Houdinis haunted mansion. True story. And honestly the album itself feels haunted.
@calyrexcolress20883 жыл бұрын
Also Corey didn’t use a single curse word on the entire album. He wanted to prove he could write a bad ass metal album without having to use any profanity. I always thought was cool. The only thing that sucked during this era was Corey had really damaged his vocal chords and the live shows suffered for it. He sounded bad. But can’t blame the guy. He outside him self on Iowa and all those live shows took a major toll on his vocals.
@calyrexcolress20883 жыл бұрын
Meant to say he Outdid himself in the recording of IOWA and the touring for IOWA. He really messed up his vocal chords back then

Slipknot is proper metal, an expression of the darkness that lies in us all. The music is a cathartic expression of darkness as far as i understand. Its not the musicians fault if you don't like it, its yours

Vol3 is by far my fave slipknot album because of all the experimentation and risks they took with it and the results were so aggressive, sad (at times) and creepy. It just left you shocked at what Corey was singing about and also how intricate the drumming is, I can't praise this release enough. My fave song off the album would be the blister exists (my all time fave slipknot song), opium of the people, vermilion pt1 and pt2, the nameless and the virus of life 😁

For me, as someone who went through abuse; the song for me is like the person manipulating one person and making them not seeing the abuse so its hard and heavy (like the first part) and the lighter softer part trying to comfort that person to not leave and sugar coat it. It's just me tho

Also, vol 3 was the first CD I ever bought. Barnes and noble lol. Anyways, this album is like that, the instrumentals, switch up on hooks etc are plentiful throughout it. My number 1 album of all time. So much talent displayed in these songs. The blister exists and three nil won't disappoint

Vol. 3 is an absolute journey, one that I highly recommend taking from start to finish. Even track placement is perfect. All the songs are fire but Virus of life, Circle, and the bonus track “Scream” which wasn’t on the initial North American release are amazing.
