Rapper YNW Melly Gets New Trial Date in Double Murder Case

A date for rapper YNW's Melly double murder retrial has been announced for September 10, 2025 after it was placed on hold. Last summer, the rapper's first trial ended in a mistrial. Law&Crime's Bob Bianchi discusses the latest news.
Jamell Demons, known as YNW Melly, allegedly killed his childhood friends, Chris “YNW Juvy” Thomas and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams, in 2018. Police believe Melly staged the murders as a drive-by shooting after a late-night recording session.

I’m just an outsider looking in that followed the last trial that ended up in a hung jury, but whatever happened to his rights for Speedy trial. He was entitled to be retired within six months after that jury. Now he’s got away all the way until next fall, I would be having a fit if I was him.

i disagree with those trial attorneys. The DA from the previous trial got all of the jurors to vote guilty until you had that one juror who was fixed on voting not guilty and swayed two other jurors to vote not guilty-according to one of the jurors from the last trial. The only scary thing is the new prosecutors aren’t as familiar with the case nuances as bradley was, although i hear the new prosecutors are aggressive. Fl definitely put on a strong case last trial and i think a new jury will see right thru that drive by crap from the defense.
