As an Aussie who grew up worshipping this band and their music in a time when being rebellious was the norm... It's heart-warming to see the younger generations embracing what we took for granted... ACDC are global Rock royalty with a guitar God like Angus still at the helm. They're absolutely inimitable and irreplaceable. Rock on, fellas!!

They CHOOSE to identify as AUSTRALIANS... They are AUSSIE... Whether YOU choose to believe it or not 😂

@@nicholaswatson8496 No doubt Scottish born, apart from Brian but have you heard Angus or Malcolm speak in interviews - as Aussie as they come. They're all getting near the end - so far all buried in Australia, their home. Bon Scott born in Scotland, died in England but his family had him flown back to Australia, where he grew up, for burial. Brian has done a great job since the death of Bon, but really he's led a charmed life got the gig because he sounded like Bon. He joins up to record, rehearse and tour - that's it. Bon was their lead singer and lyricist. If their parents had chosen to stay in Scotland there would have been no AC/DC.

Angus Young (the dancing guitarist) is definitely the best part of an AC/DC show. He never stops moving, he's almost inhuman in his ability to rock for hours in concert. He's arguably the most famous band member in the music industry around the world, for that very reason. His non-stop energy is legendary. Another thing to notice is the guitar riff - he plays it from the very beginning through the entire song, non-stop. Insane.

Lead guitarist, Angus Young is the HEART and the STAR of AC/DC. He is also the co-founder of the band along with his brother Malcolm Young (co-lead guitarist/songwriter etc.). Angus was around 55 y/o in this video. AC/DC just released a new album in Nov. 2020 called Power Up. the music video for the song "Realize" shows Angus at 65 STILL rocking like he's in his prime.... He is a rock GOD and has been "WORSHIPED" by fans for 50 years now!! Do "Let There Be Rock" Live at River Plate(it's a long one) and you WILL UNDERSTAND.... Rip: Bon and Malcolm.... Peace

AC/DC is an Australian band . However it was formed by Malcolm and Angus Young who were joined by lead singer Bon Scott and all three had been born in Scotland but their parents emigrated to Australia. Tragically Bon died in 1980 under rather strange circumstances when he was found in the back of car outside a house he was visiting in London. He was replaced by Brian Johnson a Geordie from the North East of England who had a similar singing voice. Gargling razor blades pretty much describes it. Angus is the lead guitarist and his brother Malcolm is the other main guitarist. Sadly Malcolm died in 2017 after being diagnosed with dementia. He had survived heart problems, and had to have a pacemaker, lung cancer which had also been successfully treated but dementia eventually caused his health to deteriorate. By the way the band must be the greatest live band of all time. If you want to see the fandom they generate watch the video of Thunderstruck live at the River Plate stadium in Argentina. They had three sell out concerts with audiences of just under 200,000 at each performance. That's just under 600,000 in a country where the main language is Spanish and yet everyone sang along to the songs.

The songs name was derived from toys the Angus and Malcolm Young played with as kids called Thunderstrike. The song is not about a band member surviving a plane being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm but actually came from a picking exercise that Angus Young would do as a warm up before the show. His brother Malcolm Young then developed the rhythm section to it.

The Young brothers went to my high school (Ashfield Boys' High), although well before my time. The uniform that Angus (guitarist) wears on stage was the Ashfield Boys' uniform at the time. If only I was born a generation earlier and was able to see them rock out in the music room!

There are so many great ACDC songs to react to. Big hits and deep cuts alike. 50 years worth yo. And I bet you're gonna instantly recognize at least 4-5 of them.

Besides that AC/DC is hard rock I need to say something about your question about heavy metal. The term heavy metal was commonly used in the late 70s/early 80s when it was a new movement that developed out of hard rock. There was no thrash or even other sub genres like death metal, black metal or whatever yet. Bands like Black Sabbath or Rainbow were called heavy metal in the 70s. When the 70s slowly moved into the 80s there were several bands, especially from the UK, who redefined this heavy metal sound. Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest or Saxon were heading this bunch of new bands which you now refer to as the NWOBHM (the New Wave of British Heavy Metal)... then probably starting in 1983 came the rise of thrash metal, with death metal and black metal following up as the even extremer sub genres and glam metal (also called hair metal) as the radio and tv friendly subgenre with bands like Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses or Poison. It was with the addition of more and more subgenres (power metal is another one from the 80s) that one later dropped the "heavy" and just call it metal as the overall genre over all the subgenres. Nowadays one would use the term 'heavy metal' (often also used as 'classic metal') to really refer to these classic era pioneer bands that started before all these subgenres rose to stardom.

Angus is the guitarist, not the original drummer in this song, also the original singer died (Bon Scott) and current singer is (Brian Jhonson) the original drummer is now back with them but the bass player has now died which was the guitarist Angus's brother, they have recently released another album, the highway to hell album (original singer) and back in black (current singer) are two awesome albums from AC/DC

“Heavy metal” IS metal. It’s just an abbreviation, just like how “Rock n Roll” is abbreviated to just “rock” these days. People also confuse heavy metal as being a sub-genre of heavy metal (when they mean classic era metal). The thing is, a genre can’t be a sub genre of itself, so people are trippin.

I grew up in a teeny, tiny town in the middle of nowhere in Nevada. When I was in high school, (we were even more bored than your average teenager. Think Footloose x 5) we had a drinking game to Thunderstruck. You guessed it. Drink every time you hear, “Thunder!” 😆😆😆
