Angus Young, the lead guitarist, was once told about a critic who said that "AC/DC has put out ten albums that sound exactly the same." Angus Young replied, "That's a damn lie! We've put out ELEVEN albums."

They DID make it work though, I think it was Scott Ian (Of Anthrax) talking about Malcom Young, "AC/DC's Music is Simple and Easy to play, but REALLY Hard to play RIGHT." One thing about Malcom, Other than the "Back in Black" Videos, He has played the same Gretsch Guitar In EVERY Video, and In Concert until his health Issues forced him to stop performing. In the Bon Scott days it was Red. Later on, he stripped the finish off, and over the years experimented with different Pickups, but from around 1984 or so on, his "Beast" was always the same, He had a backup for Live shows that was identical (Which his nephew Stevie now plays as Primary), but that was it..2 Guitars. Personally i think Malcom is the best Rhythm Guitarist in Rock, Ever.

You can't know how good it feels for me, a 48 year old black man to see our young bloods jamming to this great music. Are you kidding me?!?! When I was young people called me uncle Tom because I liked this music. Times have definitely changed......
@zeppelinmexicano
@zeppelinmexicano 2 жыл бұрын
I wonder how much of this trend for young blacks to follow bands like AC/DC is just pure timing? There's a time for everything, perhaps, and this is it. What a process of discovery for them - something that kicks as and has a catalog from here to the moon. Just AC/DC and Zeppelin are enough to keep you busy for a year or two.

Angus Young is on lead guitar. Note on the opening licks, it sounds like two guitars, but he's doing it one-handed. Also, the little hoppy dance is called the duckwalk. Duckwalk was originated by T-bone Walker in the 1930s, popularized by Chuck Berry in the 50s, and then of course, by Angus here. You are CORRECK to pick up on the stadium vibes. This song is one of the all-time epic rock anthems. Angus said he can't play this unless he's bobbing his head. Someone asked Angus if he might be the best guitar player in the world. His answer was he's not even the best guitarist in his family. He was referring to Malcolm, who plays rhythm on this, but Angus said Malcolm is probably better at guitar solos than Angus himself.

in the video he is playing one handed but on the actual studio recording he is picking with his other and (i.e. using 2 hands) you can clearly hear the attack of the pick on the string in the recording. It's all on one string too. you can play it hammer on and pull off like he is doing in the video but it's not the same as the original recording. That was for optics in the video

Angus and Malcolm's older brother George played with The Easybeats (Friday On My Mind) and wrote and produced the early AC/DC hits... Angus also had nephew Stevie alongside in the band in later years. Talented family indeed. Saw them with Bon Scott singing in 1977 and 1978 and again twice with Brian Johnson here. Just make you smile every song.

“Old school” compared to today. If it’s good, it’s old school...in this case, old school head banging rock, absolutely! This and others of the day, like Zep, Pink, (our generation’s Pink-not head banging, but still old school, for those chilling and floating moments, and not that chick!), for example, were the major players of the soundtrack of life. Still have the AC/DC tank top from the concert when they first toured with this song...and I’ve kept in in new condition. Only wore it a few times and lovingly packed that one up in my decade box. Gotta have decade boxes of your fav stuff, at least one box per decade. It’s in there.

He got that right! We did. It was real music from real people and stuff. And when people went to concerts, they didn’t watch them through their (nonexistent) phones, and cameras were not allowed. If they caught you with one, you would have to go put it in your car or they’d take it (same with booze and weapons and sometimes even your studded belt if they were feeling particularly fussy). Concert goers actually watched the band in front of them performing with their own two eyes, with no screen in between. They left everything from outside the arena behind, and were all in for the music.

Ya'll had all the good music back in the day. Why do you think the "older generation" constantly complains about the amount of garbage that gets put on the radio and promoted by the industry? The over-use of auto-tune and "superstars" being made on talent shows and not by touring for years mastering their craft? Back then talent was necessary to make it big, and these guys had it in SPADES. AC/DC is very much an arena rock band, you nailed that one right off. Bon Jovi is another great 80's rock band you should check out, as well as Van Halen, and Scorpions just to name a few. Rock is a bit different than Metal, but it's ALL good :D

This song is nothing but pure energy from the gradual build up of the opening riff all the way to the end. Just a constant building of energy. you can see when they perform this song they give 100% and leave it all on the stage. It was played so heavily in rotation on the radio when it was released that I grew to hate the song, but all these years later I am reminded of what an awesome display of the live of music it was.

I'm a 70 year old Aussie and grew up on AC/DC - one of the best and loudest bands in the world. Paul McCartney has even commented on how loud they are. I've seen them in concert 3 times, the last being in 2018. 2 live concerts you should watch, Live at Riverplate and Live at Donnington. My all time favorite is Back in Black at Donnington. Love to listen to that one with the volume up as loud as it will go. A truly great Aussie band.

I was born in 74 & I don't remember a time not listening to this kinda music. We were there from the beginning of most of their music careers. We are a very blessed generation with our music to say the least. It will never be topped. I enjoy so much watching our younger generations rocking out to our "old folks" music.❤ I'd like to watch ur reaction to "For those about to Rock" by ACDC, & "God gave rock n roll to u" by KISS.

What's up, King B? It's Steve from Visitacion Valley in the 415. I remember blasting AC/DC back then. I went to VV Middle School then O'Connell Tech High in the Mission. I've seen AC/DC live 9 times so far. They are and have been my favorite band since '79. The song I'd recommend is "Touch Too Much" off of the "Highway To Hell" album, when they still had their original singer, the late Bon Scott. If you get a chance to check it out, pay close attention to his lyrics and you'll likely see why that song turned my into an AC/DC fan. Thanks for posting such a cool video.

As a 55yr old Aussie i grew up on Acca Dacca.. been around since the 70's. This's Brian Johnson singing. My son used to crawl over to the speakers and bounce, I'd freak cause them speakers where ground level & loud.(bizarre fact: I only went out with my baby daddy bc he looked like Malcolm Young)😅 He's 40 now,still loves Acca Dacca. The best was Bon Scott. Aussie rock is soo underrated!

That, my dear friend, is the great Angus Young, performing his signature duck-walk, the way only Angus can do it. And actually, the duck-walk was not invented by Angus. It was invented by Chuck Berry. But the Chuck Berry duck-walk and the Angus Young duck-walk are two completely different animals (no pun intended). ;)

Solid insight near the end. I mean in those times they *could* use loops by physically cutting and splicing tape, but judging from the live albums bands had, they probably weren't doing that. In this digital era you just need to get it right for ten seconds and that's even IF you use a physical instrument instead of a sample.
