Oh man, here we go. This song and video have SUCH a deeper meaning that you could ever imagine. Lets go back in time just a little bit. This song came out as a single after their previous album All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us. Their main song writer was their late guitarist, and brother of the drummer Dan, Tom Searle. Now if you listen to the album AOGHAU without any context, it just sounds like the songs are about how shitty the world can be but Tom in fact wrote most of they lyrics from a dying mans perspective. It wasn't made known until after the album had come out but Tom had cancer and he eventually lost that battle. Songs like Gone With The Wind and Memento Mori on that album have HUGE meaning once you know the back story. That being said, Doomsday was a work in progress that Tom was never able to finish. The band decided to finish it for him as a tribute. The person you see sitting in the video is Dan, Tom's brother. I beg you to rewatch this and listen to they lyrics again with this new found knowledge. It brings a whole new light to this song and this band. Regardless, this was a great reaction and keep up the great work guys.

Ooohhhhh shiiit! Doomsday!? Welcome to another wormhole! Royal Beggars Naysayers Gone with the wind 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 And this song was also was the first new material recorded by the group since the death of their original lead guitarist and primary songwriter Tom Searle in 2016. Tom was also the twin brother of one of the band members. *gone with the wind* was written about Searle‘s three-year battle with cancer, which was not publicly known at the time of the songs release.

The piano reprise of this song is insane and Hereafter is sort of a continuation. All have incredible graphics! The guitarist and main songwriter died of cancer. He was also the drummer’s brother. His name is Tom and a lot of their music now is done in his memory. That is what the video is about. Definitely do more Architects!

The song was written by their lead guitarist Tom who was battling cancer and knew his death was coming soon. The lyrics are his perspective on facing death. He died in 2016. He was the twin brother of the drummer Dan.

Loved the Devo & Prince nods. You know MJK is such a fan that he named his son Devo. And we threw a big end of the world party on Dec 21 2012, after spending Y2K at a cabin in the woods just in case 😄 Great song, sorry to read in the other comments about the loss to skin cancer. Hits home.

a lot of the visuals and design for the music video is inspired by, and in one instance lifted directly from, a beautiful movie called The Fountain, by the writer/director of Black Swan, Daren Aronofsky. It's a film that, fittingly for the song, is about the grieving process and the lengths people will go to to either escape it or embrace it. It makes a lot of sense for them to use visuals from a sequence titled "Death is the Road to Awe".
