A little bit about the VOCALS: Sam Carter is a legendary vocalist. His clean singing is beautiful, but he's definitely known for his screams. In my opinion he has perfected the "fry scream" technique, and does an expert job of mixing that same "fry" sound (compression based-grit) with his true cord phonation (singing). On top of this the production is amazing and the vocal layering of screams/singing is wonderfully done. I've seen Architects multiple times and Sam's near flawless performance always amazes me. I love good lyrics, but the overall of sound of a song is what draws me in at first. Then I'll start paying attention to the different bits, and I go through several phases of loving the same song for different aspects of it. First, I just love the song. Later, I'll love it for the drum work, then it's the intricate guitar bits that keep me coming back, then the vocals, the bass, the lyrics. Hell, it might be something very simple, like a bass slide, or a particular scream, that has me loving it.
