I read somewhere that this song was actually made before covid. Oli read something about a virus in Japan that inspired the song. They Just happened to release it at the beginning of covid. I think I also read that they almost didn't release it.
@echxwxlf2 жыл бұрын
They started it before covid and finished it in lockdown. Initially "when we forget the infection will we remember the lesson" was "if we survive the infection..." but they realised how many people were actually dying and thought it would be insensitive and changed it. They thought the world needed to hear parasite eve as like a coping mechanism or something.

Well, he is also known to say that he would spend his last day on this earth playing through Parasite Eve, so it's deffo inspired by that.

Bmth start out as a MySpace era deathcore band. Then they shift to metalcore. They then shifted closer to radio rock and pop. This last installment they brought everything together as a truly eclectic band that can go from trace to pop to metal
@kingmichael54462 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, metalcore tends to be harsh vocals and heavy riffs in the verses and then it becomes more melodic and “catchy” in the choruses. That’s a very basic view though. Difference between death core and metal core is pretty much the intensity of the music. Death core vocals are extreme, think of WhiteChapel being death core and bullet for my valentine being metal core. And there’s plenty more in between.
@unknowngaming14322 жыл бұрын
Metalcore = Heavy Metal + Hardcore Deathcore = Deathmetal + Hardcore How I remember it
@kingmichael54462 жыл бұрын
@@unknowngaming1432 I don’t know if I’d say hardcore is in all metalcore tbh, although it’s possibly where the name comes from. Certainly the likes of AILY you can see the hard core influences and early Trivium for that matter. But there’s also a lot of metalcore bands that aren’t as aggressive with their vocals or playing. There’s always grey areas within genres too of course. It’s like when people get confused between groove metal and thrash metal. There’s many differences, but also many similarities.
@unknowngaming14322 жыл бұрын
@@kingmichael5446 well I always heard it as the vocals were an indicator as Heavy Metal had melodic vocals and Hardcore provides the breakdowns and lows. Deathcore was that but mostly took out clean vocals and amped up the aggressiveness. But genres change over time to fit what works and what people like. Edit: Wikipedia says its "Metallic Hardcore" as it was a mix of Hardcore Punk and Thrash Metal.

Songfacts®: "Parasite Eve" originated in 2019 when frontman Oli Sykes read an article about a Japanese superbug that had become heat resistant because of climate change. Borrowing the title from a late 1990s action role-playing video game, he came up with the idea for a horror song about a deadly virus.
@davidelrod78652 жыл бұрын
Hardcore originally branched out from the punk genre in the 70s~80s, while Metal was experiencing a similar evolution with Thrash. In the 90s a lot of metal bands started drawing inspiration from hardcore punk, and punk bands started drawing inspiration from metal genres like Thrash. By the late 90s and early 2000s, Metalcore become a genre, with elements of both genres. Hardcore typically had breakdowns/drops after a bridge to launch into the chorus a last time.

I also loved Parasite Eve franchise, fun fact, parasite Eve is based off a movie from Japan with the same premise. It was about advanced mitochondrial evolution, (the power plant of human cells) and how it basically became self aware and saw lesser humanity as a threat and proceeded to try and exterminate us.

Not a huge BMTH fan but i love this song, it's not the first time they've taken inspiration from video games and i love how they've taken that disturbed infected feeling from the game into this.

bmth has done so many different genres. started off as a deathcore band which if you don’t know it’s all extreme vocals and it’s very heavy compared to metalcore which has a lot of clean vocals. the two biggest deathcore bands are probably Suicide Silence and Whitechapel. but even whitechapel has clean vocals in their music now but they are still deathcore. bmth has gone from deathcore to metalcore to a pop rock type band and they have really brought all of it together recently. i recommend reacting to Whitechapel - When A Demon Defiles a Witch and Hickory Creek

This song was written about the game Parasite Eve, and while the band was working on it, they kept seeing news about the beginnings of Covid and kept going 'omg Parasite Eve!', so it eventually became about covid. This track is from the same album as Kingslayer.

The title/lyric comes from a really old Sega video game called “Parasite Eve”, and the song was started before COVID, but shortly after they began writing it, the news broke, lock downs made things stand still, misinformation and general distrust… and, well, the direction of the song sort of integrated what real life started looking like, and was released in June of 2020 (not last year in 2021). The original inspiration was a news article on a super bug/infection that was found in Japan that was killing off the bees. Another song with a video game connection (Resident Evil) and is just an overall hit (from the same album this one is on also) is Dear Diary.

Metalcore was originally the cross of hardcore punk and metal by adding more distortion and metal riffs with the guitar work to hardcore punk vocals and short songs. Metalcore later(early to mid 2000s)became like melodic death metal(think death metal mixed with Iron Maiden)with a hardcore punk style vocal and sometimes alternated with emo style clean vocals. Deathcore is more brutal, basically death metal that incorporates breakdowns from hardcore punk.

loved the reaction dudes metalcore is basically just hardcore punk stuff like earth crisis/terror/etc combined with melodic death metal riffs. early popular instances of metalcore would be stuff like early killswitch engage, trivium, etc. the Tl;DR is just classic melodic death metal with punk/hardcore breakdowns. Modern metalcore is a bit of an issue to describe because the genre takes influence from so many random ass things but if you want a general idea of modern metalcore, architects and spiritbox are good semi-mainstream places to look into!
@TheFlem692 жыл бұрын
Metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically yell or scream. Some metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Deathcore combines death metal with metalcore.
@killakaminski2 жыл бұрын
Metalcore is basically screaming the verses but melodic singing for the chorus. Still a lot of double bass and guitar solos, keeping it in the metal sub genre.

Hardcore is short for hardcore punk, it's closer to metal but it's still punk. Metalcore is a cross between hardcore punk and metal, and often has breakdowns, drops, and other passages that are slower paced for moshing. Deathcore is like metalcore but death metal.
