Cradle of Filth are awesome....They are known for having guest vocalists make an appearance in this case, Liv Kristine. It's kind of hard to categorize their music. They're black metal, symphonic metal, gothic metal...whatever they feel like being, I guess. Try Her Ghost In The Fog for a next listen. No guest vocals, just Cradle. The lyrics are super dark and viscerally poetic.

The whole “Beauty and the Beast” style of vocal harmonies are dope as hell, NGL. Cradle of Filth got a lot of flak for a long time as “Hot Topic-core” for mallgoths, but that’s selling them SO short tbh. The Shakespearean prose in Dani Filth’s lyricism is unparalleled. It’s good to see he’s still around, and as well-spoken and self-aware as ever. Listen to their song “Her Ghost In the Fog” if you haven’t already. I’d love to see you guys break down the lyrics and subject matter. Lots of love.

Cradle of Filth has a catalogue of amazing songs; the cherry on top (in my humble opinion) is the song: "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids". Finally I'm commenting! Don't let me fool you though I've seen many more than I've commented! This is one is definitely a fav! I love me some Cradle of Filth! I've been a fan of them since way back in the dis-ay. Like around 2000. Back when the internet was brand new DSL connection! Lol I would download music using those odd programs where you never knew what you were getting exactly. Many songs would be wrongly titled either by name or song. But Cradle of Filth was always correctly titled. But I felt like I was the only one in the world who knew of them and was a fan. Back before they ever made it mainstream. The first song I believe I ever heard was "Ghost in the Fog". However this song, it was the song that I believe got the a straight shot into the mainstream. Everybody was loving it. And I was all mean mugging them though because back in the day when I would play their music those same folks were mean mugging me and calling me a straight devil worshiper. Lolol Not that I cared. I've been called that whether slightly true or not at the time, ever since I was 13 when I became a fan of Marilyn Manson. Dani Filth however one of the best Lyricist ever!! Luv ya two! Amy

This song in particular is Gothic Metal (known the most for the juxtaposition of soft angelic female vocals + growling vocals as a duet), while from my knowledge the rest of their discography is more on the Extreme Metal side. If you're interested in Gothic Metal and since you loved Liv Kristine's vocals, maybe you guys could check out the bands she used to be in; Theatre of Tragedy and Leaves' Eyes. Theatre of Tragedy itself is one of the most important bands in the history of Gothic Metal, especially their first two albums. You could also try Tristania's earlier work, my favorite album by them is Beyond the Veil, an absolute masterpiece of heaviness, atmosphere, symphonics, and growling vocals + operatic soprano vocals + clean baritone vocals.

A quick summation of the name of the song, basically the partner is the drug. Also, regarding the metal scene, I'd say we're pretty accepting generally. We try not to judge because we're used to everyone already judging us. Getting the labels "devil worshipper" devil music, evil, etc. When in reality, we're often more sincere than the people closest to you. And each piece of music feeds a different part of the soul. All that said, we're very hard to actually offend as our music already explored the darker sides of the human mindset.
