New to your channel and I love watching people new to that “style” of music and actually gain appreciation for it. Periphery is truly astonishing and stand out from this often stagnate style of music. They have taken a genre of music and genuinely made it their own. I don’t know any other artists that sound like this band in this genre and the level of talent is absolutely remarkable. Periphery music takes time to digest but the finest things in life are worth waiting for. Reptile needs more attention, it’s about the concept of ‘greed and corruption’. The boy named ‘billy’ (billionaire) and the reptile creature are just metaphors for the story. The reptile is described as this stealthy, sly, and predatory creature, such as greed and corruption often take form. The end of the track appears to be about how ironic it is that two people can be born from opposite end of the socioeconomic status, and one ‘owns’ the land and it’s resources, yet when all is said and done...none of that matters when our time is up because we’re all buried and become one with the soil...that is the law of nature and biology and it’s inevitable. The rich and the poor, black or white, gay or straight...we all become one with the soil in the end.
@whatisahandleplz5 жыл бұрын
YES I've been waiting for this, thank you! You gotta do Satellites by these guys, it's beautiful!

Them taking a silly concept like being ruled by reptilian overlords & turning it into a magnificent & beautiful rhapsody has got to be the most underappreciated feat in this genre throughout all of 2020

Love your reaction...you really need to listen to this album in its entirety to appreciate its genius…that soft outtro to Reptile is a counterpoint to the brutal Blood Eagle (next track) before the journey culminates in a crescendo that is Satellites! That was my first time reacting to that with you which was cool! Kel looked traumatised through some of it 😂. I liked it but I think I still need more time to warm to Periphery because they do have an unusual style. Periphery actually has 3 guitarist. Misha mansoor is the lead guitarist, founder, and probably has the biggest influence in the sound of the band. He is not Pettruci’s nephew. Perttruci’s nephew, Jake Bowen, plays more rythm . He is acually responsible for that outro, as he does most of Periphery’s electronics.
