* PLEASE BE ADVISED * * This video contain images and information that may be disturbing to some viewers. * If you are sensitive to sad tales, please do not watch this video. This video includes two raptors, a Red Tailed Hawk currently at our rescue center and older footage of a Golden Eagle from early 2018. The Red Tailed Hawk may have been struck by a car and temporarily stunned. However, before the hawk was brought in it appears it was injured in an additional way. From the damage to feathers on one wing, Martin thinks that wing was grabbed by someone who held the hawk in order to rip out the tail feathers. All but two tail feathers were taken. This is something that Martin sees once or twice a year. It is very cruel and painful to the raptor. The Red Tailed Hawk will have to stay with us for quite awhile, possibly a year, until new feathers grow in. Another similar incident happened to the Golden Eagle who arrived injured and missing all but one tail feather. Hi, I think I posted a comment on this video that may have come across the wrong away, and that kept nagging on my mind. So I just started searching to remove it. I can't find it, so I am either looking under the wrong video or you removed it. I was not trying to upset anyone; it's just that I've had to deal with a few cases of animal cruelty in the past five years that left me gutted and I've been trying to understand how on earth someone might arrive at the point of doing something like that. I don't have anyone that I can discuss such things with. Many people aren't that interested in animals, certainly not birds. (That needs to change because everything we do to other species also affects our own future as a species on this planet.) So I really cherish you guys.

Sad fact is they usually get away with these crimes. With Asian markets, people from all over the world will do their bidding for a price. As long as the money rolls in, this vile act will continue. We can slow it down by educating the younger generation of every country but sadly this will take time. If you're like me & are too empathetic, this fight will destroy your soul. With the things I've seen, the worst feeling is helplessness. Fighting colossal stupidity, ignorance & greed is utterly impossible. We need awareness worldwide. People need to be taught that animal parts cannot give you powers, there's no such thing as "cure-all magic potions". But the biggest fight is racial & cultural hatred & slander by leftwing groups who claim to care yet allow these "wet-markets" to flourish with immunity because their fear of being viewed as racist is much worse. Education is the only avenue I feel will work, but it's slow.

Hello everyone. I have loved Raptors for as long as I can remember. I was going to train in falconry, but unfortunately that did not happen. I was very lucky many years ago to visit a falconry sanctuary for sick and injured Raptors. In the sanctuary there so many different Raptors. To say I was in their thrall would be an understatement. Like the gentleman on this clip,the chap who ran the sanctuary brought out an eagle owl. I was given permission to stroke that magnificent and majestic creature. When I looked into the eagle owls eyes it felt like he to was giving me his permission to touch. Without any shadow of a doubt that moment was one of the most magical moments in my life. To see what the all to familiar cruelty that people inflict on such a beautiful creature ,is beyond comprehension.

Some people do horrible things, Susan. It's impossible to imagine for oneself. It is my understanding that it can be the result of severe and persistent childhood abuse, of young children whose brains never got a chance to develop properly so they have little or no compassion. Maybe that will help Martin to know. If that is the case, such people are not able to change themselves because their brains are structurally different. It is one of the biggest challenges society faces, how to heal broken brains in medically sound human bodies. I've seen three local birds that were attacked, all in the same manner, with some kind of rotary cutting tool. One died, one was lucky and one thankfully literally came to me for help and was in terrible pain, and the one that died had been her first mate. They weren't attacked at the same time, but they were all attacked to spite me, as far as I know, so I am forever indebted. It does something to you, I can tell you.

Unfortunately the worst offenders, by far, are culture. With our western countries opening up & trading more with Asian nations, so too does the black market trade for often endangered environmental species for useless potions & trinkets. Nearly every nature documentary I've seen in the last 5yrs has been ruined by the mention of the Asian black market trade as the reason for wildlife declines. As long as the $$$ flows in, more people will be inclined to hunt. Educating people with commonsense is one way but the "big picture" is way bigger than this, sadly. And, yes, there are broken minds & just bad people among us.

Martin, I am terribly sorry to disagree with you on this one. This was indeed done by a predator - the worst on the planet. @cosmicVox13 Maybe it wasn't that bad for you, but could you afford to watch it on your lunch break at work if your pet bird had recently died? Probably not. Maybe you'd skip it completely; maybe you would wait until you got home so if you ended up crying, it wouldn't affect you at work. Everybody has something that bothers them - I can eat lasagna while watching an autopsy, but can't handle torture scenes in movies; others are the opposite. That doesn't make them weak or me strong; it just means we'll skip different things. Trigger warnings aren't about censorship or coddling; they're about giving people information so they can decide if they are up to seeing or hearing something at a given point in time.

why are the tail feathers from a living bird worth more than from a dead one?
@womanofsubstance87355 жыл бұрын
Too bad you can't find who did these things and pull their short curlies out a dozen or so at a time.

If I ever saw someone doing that they would never be able to forget how horribly crooked their new nose is. They would also need a dentist.

I am so sad hearing about people ripping out feathers of such beautyful predators. But I would also suggest not to tell in the video about how much you can get of a tail feather ripped out of a living bird on the black market.

What a total piece of garbage to rip the tail feathers out of a bird like that.

how a large bird can hit by car?
@GowildlifeOrg5 жыл бұрын
They go after road kill. Sometimes they can't get away from cars fast enough. You can learn more about that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/op3UXnxtlNqmjpo

If you're so determined that you need hawk feathers you can find professionally recreated hawk feathers using domestic turkeys. I'm thankful this poor baby got away with his life instead of getting killed just to get the rest of his feathers 💔
@kellysuzanne9765 жыл бұрын
If you go to the right location and search enough you can find them laying on the ground.

@@kellysuzanne976 Please please PLEASE do not do this if you're in America. The migratory bird act makes any part of birds of prey and local birds illegal to harvest.

Keep an eye out for these type of people who want to hurt wildlife, if you see someone doing something stupid like pulling feathers out of a beautiful wild bird let someone know immediately. Call the feds I believe it should be a federal offense.

@@jmdenison let me explain this a little further.if an adult person not see that it is very wrong to hurt an wounded animal even further. then there is no hope.the problem lies on ebay.us where the adult gets lots of money for a few feathers.thats the reason why some people, do this.

Horrible that someone would do that. Do Red-Tailed Hawks HAVE predators? Eagles maybe? He's fat. He's healthy and he's pissed. LOL @ he's a good-looking kid.
