The current offensive by Arab and Kurdish fighters - with American and British support - started in June. Then, I-S controlled most of Raqqa. But now only a few hundred militants hold the centre of the city. The BBC is the only broadcaster to get access. I will always be impressed by the Kurdish equality of sex and the amount of women who show up to fight alongside the men. I STILL had an argument yesterday with a friend(American in Alabama) who thinks women are naturally unfit for combat and distract male troops more than they help.
