I tought a high school homeschool co-op creative writing class for several years and every week I would bring a random item and they would write 5 minutes of fiction about it and then they would each read their story, and it was so much fun! Don't feel bad for making her first birthday a big event. My cousin unfortunately just lost their sweet little angel a couple weeks shy of her first birthday (please keep him and his wife in your prayers if you would please).
