On October 20, 1928, Thomas Edison was awarded a Congressional Medal from the United States government, and the British government also used the occasion to return the original Edison phonograph which was left in England in 1880. The event was carried over the NBC Red Network and recorded on Baltimore's radio station WJZ by Thomas Edison Industries. This radio broadcast also features a speech by President Calvin Coolidge, plus a performance of 'Hail to the Chief' as performed by the United States Navy Band.
