Nikola Tesla also turned down the Nobel prize & had plans to provide free electricity to all.
@hydrolito
@hydrolito 5 жыл бұрын
His idea wouldn't provide free electricity some body would still have to have a power source that cost money. Even if someone could harness lightning bolts it would still cost money to turn it into a useable form. His idea was to transmit energy like radiowaves which could affect people as would be very large amounts to energy to supply all that power it would also disrupt television and radio by creating extra static.

@@organizedfromwithin2525 he contributed inventions and many of his experiments contributed to investigations that are subject of study even today, theories are important but they are not everything, many theories even come from practis, read about how Voltair found out about metal electric properties thanks to a biologist's experiments who had no idea about electricity other than the basics, Voltair even contradicted the biologist because he firmly believed that living beings could generate electricity. Again he had no knowledge, but his contribution was VITAL, just a very simple example. The main contribution of Tesla btw is about high-frequency/high-voltage signals, not in theory but in practical experiments that could pretty much set up a theory on its own, reason why everything that came up out of it has his name, gladly that happened after Edison was already dead, but sadly when Tesla was also dead.

I can give you a similar example. In the mid 90’s GM made a all electric S-10. It had batteries under the center of the truck. So they made a limited number for testing. We’ll big Exxon didn’t like that at all and I guess felt it threatened America’s addiction to oil. So Exxon got it blocked so the batteries couldn’t be sold for the truck. Today electric cars and making another attempt and these big oil companies are buying into it now but we would be much farther along today if they hadn’t done that.

Turned out that there were flaws in the idea, but Edison still tried. Lots of Tesla's ideas failed too. That's just how it goes. But to suggest Edison wasn't trying to help humanity is absurd. What do you think the phonograph was all about? Or a practical lightbulb that was cheaper and safer than candles or oil lamps?

Because even Tesla piled high praises for Edison and declared that he deserved his place in the pinnacle of American Inventors. “The recurrence of a phenomenon like [Thomas] Edison is not very likely. The profound change of conditions and the ever increasing necessity of theoretical training would seem to make it impossible. He will occupy a unique and exalted position in the history of his native land, which might well be proud of his great genius and undying achievements in the interest of humanity.” www.goodreads.com/quotes/1010621-the-recurrence-of-a-phenomenon-like-thomas-edison-is-not

Edison had an army of engineers working and inventing things for him (including Tesla), no wonder Edison patented thousands of inventions under his name. Truth be told, the only reason that Edison is more popular than Tesla is because Edison is an American so naturally he is more celebrated by the media at that time and Tesla has always been overlooked and just a footprint in the pages of history. I remember a few years back when the whole world commemorated Edison's death anniversary by turning off the light for a minute, got me thinking, how about Tesla?? Edison should be the footprint in the pages of history and Tesla should be the one being celebrated. Sure, I recognized Edison's contribution to mankind, but hey, he didn't invent all those things all by himself, he had an army of engineers working for him 🙄

All the glitz, glamour, praise, and admiration that thief Edison received forever, rightfully belongs to Tesla. Edison should be known as nothing more than a greedy, murderous sociopathic thief
@levongevorgyan6789
@levongevorgyan6789 5 жыл бұрын
@@gregwhitton2293 Edison was so "sociopathic" that he refused to make weapons of war. So sociopathic that he made a fusebox to make lightbulbs safer to use. So sociopathic he provided for his dying coworker and his family, not to mention loaning Tesla one of his labs when Tesla's own burned down. The man was dedicated to the well being of others. Why else would he continuously warn people of the dangers of X Ray? And a thief? Please. Even Tesla himself only ever blamed James Batchellor for stiffing him on a bet. Edison himself never got mentioned.

@@levongevorgyan6789 he still let greed rule his decisions, stole from an actual genius, and used Tesla's ac current to torture and kill a bunch of animals to Sully Tesla's name. I didn't say Edison didn't do anything good...just he doesn't deserve most of the credit he received
@levongevorgyan6789

@@gregwhitton2293 He does. Tesla himself praised Edison and said he would get and deserve high renown in America for his achievements. Edison didn't steal a thing from Tesla. At most, a manager in his employ cheated Tesla in a bet they made. Edison himself had nothing to do with that. And Edison could care less about Tesla during the Current Wars. He was a bit soldier. Edison's rival was Westinghouse.
