I'm a Mopar guy but these are without a doubt my favorite cars ever made by Chevy. The first gen Camaros are great looking cars and the all aluminum ZL-1 427 is the meanest factory built Chevy big block ever. They probably made between 525-550 horses at the crankshaft all while weighing about the same as a 327 small block. This car is just awesome no matter if you're a GM, Ford, or Mopar guy. Super rare. I wonder how many real 69 ZL-1 Camaro's still exist

Hi Lou, Around the corner from where I live in Port Melbourne, Australia is the HQ of Bob Jane T-Mart. Back in 1969 Bob Jane flew over to the States & bought 2 of these ZL1 Camaro's back to Australia. Bob Jane was a racer here back in say similar to a Carroll Shelby & owned & operated the largest tyre franchise in Australia & still is. So when I walk the dogs, drive to work everyday I get a glimpse of an original 1969 Hugger Orange ZL1 Camaro. Unfortunately it hasn't got the original motor that is long gone but it is what it is. Another great video Lou. YOUR number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍

I like that this owner kept the modifications like headers, ladder bars, tach etc. They were built with some basic parts with the expectation that those parts would be replaced with upgrades for drag racing. Their performance potential was limited by leaving them all stock. Most guys want to retain it's value and trailer it around. I would put upgraded wheels, tires, and suspension on one of these and drive the hell out of it.

I had the f-body cars . The design needed a frame tie especially these with this torque on them. Street driven was still brutal on the body with these cars even when the rear tires were vaporizing. .

Wow! What a beautiful 69 Camaro! I love the dark blue paint and the fact that it looks like a 6 cylinder secretaries car. Eddie’s story makes it though... how Kool is that?! Did that Mopar in the background ever start? As a Mopar owner, I know that gear reduction sound. 🙃

These days every common production car has an all aluminum engine. That was absolutely not the case in 1969. Aluminum was still an exotic, rare, and expensive metal. Most engines were all cast iron. Which is heavier and thus leads to less performance. That’s part of what makes these ZL1s so special.

This is my favorite Camaro - the ultimate. I have a video of the 1987 Supercar Showdown on my channel which is the "grandfather" to the pure stock drag racing events. There is an "authentic" 1969 ZL-1 Camaro that was entered and made it to the quarter-finals, owned by Rusty Symmes. It was running 12.7 at about 108 - in complete stock form. I don't think you would find any authentic ZL-1's in today's events, too valuable!!!
