The hood and rear spoiler should have been on the '73 Grand Am too! This Can Am is very nice as well!

Very nice!! People think im weird when i say i want one of these with 403 olds motor. But.. reasoning is i had 79 TransAm with 403 and with just port and polishing, headers, and carburetor upgrade ... the power output is phenomenal. I could see having 1 , and setting a Laguna Malabu next to it.

@user-db4gr7ne8l that's why people think im weird i guess... 403 olds motor is a torque monster when you give the motor a little love. My 79 T/A throttle was so touchy that leaving red lights you couldn't touch the peddle until you were above 5mph or you would smoke both rear tires.

@user-db4gr7ne8l and no... i didn't have to spend alot of money building shit out of the 403.. i did say .. i port and polished. That included the heads intake and exhaust, and the intake . I also changed the Rochester quad out for a bigger Holley double pumper. And i put headers on it that i wrapped. It was only things i spent money on except smalls like gaskets, plugs etc. My hp and torque was never dyno'd ... back in early 80's those were far and few to be found. But if i had to guess without smog crap and few upgrades that motor was probably 450hp and 500torque.

@user-db4gr7ne8l i understand big blocks aren't for ev1. Some people really like honda 4 cylinders. Tuners are real popular. But that 455.. buick made the best. Buick , pontiac, and Oldsmobile made a 455 .. theyre all different. Not interchangeable. I do like a 455 buick.

I had one of these monsters. I was soooo happy when I bought it...and, sooooo happy when I gave it away. I spent a fortune on that car.

Very cool! Was that at the Motortown facility or Pontiac?

It was known as Pontiac mainside and we made everything at the multi complex cept trans, wiring, bulbs and the like . I was there from 76 to 81. I worked in heat treat plants 1 and 11, plant 5 rearends, also small parts plant , 2 of the engine plants there & plant 8 that was 3 floors of assembly line for our cars. Grand Prix, Grand Am, LeMans, & Safari station wagons. It was putting out a car like every 50 seconds. About everything in plant 8 had a Judge sticker on it! The older guys said it sounded like Detroit dragway at the end of the line on the rollers when they put the GTOs through their gears. @@DavidFlorida634

@@DavidFlorida634 It was called Pontiac Mainside. We made everything but transmissions, wiring, bulbs & such. I hired in 1976 and heat treated, made rear axles, small parts, two engine plants, and plant 8 that was three floors of continuous line. That Grand Prix, Le Mans, Grand Am, and Safari station wagons. There was Judge stickers on everything in there. I just mist the GTO era... Oh , Nice car man !

The Buford T. Justice High Speed Pursuit Vehicle but everyone just calls it the Can Am which would have been perfect for chasing a Trans Am.
