Not only did Dave help Ryan get a place to stay, but he stayed by his side to make sure he did go get detoxed. That's a true friend. I really love that even his wife cared about Ryan and wanted him to get help as well, bidding him goodbye. You tend not to hear good stories where past friends end up helping each other to the end, especially if one ends up on drugs and needs help getting clean. This is heartwarming and I was scared and expected something bad to happen at the end. But it ended well. I love these story driven songs. Always will love you Rare Americans.

In fact, growing up isn't all that bad. You get to enjoy things more because you do it for yourself. You cannot afford this as a teenager. Let me give you an example. The usual cooking in childhood is simply unnecessary. Your parents do everything for you. But having matured, cooking becomes something chill and useful, since it is done for yourself, which is very cool I guess. Sorry for my not that good English please. I was using the translater smtms xd

One small detail I think I noticed: At the end (about 3:17) Ryan is skating on a skateboard while Dave is on a longboard. Skateboards are smaller, faster, and harder to control (crazier if you will) while longboards are bigger, slower, but very easy to control (well-mannered if you will). These match Ryan and Dave's personalities, with Ryan being the crazier more rowdy one, and Dave being the quieter more reserved one.

@TheKnocturne Жыл бұрын
Since to me they look about the same in size I would guess they are both skateboards, but the distinction here i believe is that Ryan seems to not have grip tape on his board an intentional choice that makes skating much more dangerous while Dave has grip tape. I think this shows that Ryan makes intentionally dangerous decisions that can go badly easily and are hard to get out of i.e. him doing drugs or seeming to yell at someone near the beginning intentionally dangerous decisions that easily could have and are shown to have gone bad and that he is struggling getting out of.

I love the hug at 2:30. There are genuinely so many people who live in the streets or are addicted who long so intensely to just feel the comfort of another person treating them human. It’s so very real. There are a lot of studies demonstrating that the best tool for overcoming addiction isn’t medical or therapeutic, it’s just having people around you who understand and love you, many addicts will attest to the fact that their love for their friends and family is what motivated them to stick with the program. In the occasion that people do relapse, it tends to be from chemical addiction-or, because they suffer a great loss or change in their social circle.

I love how every song has a story like how in cats dogs and rats shows how bad prison is and how messed up the justice system is ( at least that’s how I interpret it). In brittle bones Nicky it talks about how child abuse and bullying can change a person. And Ryan and Dave shows what drugs can do to harm someone and their life’s and friendships.

Idk if you will ever read this, but this song has helped me handle my best friend/soul brother addiction w a gentle approach. I showed him this video when talking about how I felt and it stuck w him. He is now working on going sober, it hasn't been easy, I had to put boundaries, I had to learn to say no to him, but I also supported him w his therapy, accompany him to his monthly group meeting so he didn't felt so alone and also went to help him clean his room. I had hear a lot of songs that talks about handling a loving one when they are struggling w addiction, but yours is the one that feels like it comes from a place or love and care and that means the world to me. As a detail, I love how Jamey hugs Ryan before he goes to rehab, she knows Dave loves Ryan and want to help him, so even if she is wary bc she has kids, she doesn't see Ryan as lesser for struggling w addiction. I know it seems like a minor detail,but it seriously opened my eyes the first time I listened to your song. Thank you, Rare Americans 🖤🖤
@shrevackado84185 жыл бұрын
I love how there are different symbols in the music video. For one the art is amazing, but besides that, the one cousin, a pug bull dog mix maybe, has his life together, and it’s easy for him, because he gives off the look of domestication. While as the other cousin is more wild and wolf like, just like his looks. It’s also cool about the colors, you can’t tell if the wolf is high because his eyes are always red, and you’d think that red and green, the colors that each brother are, would not wrk out in the end and would clash, but they pushed through together. Overall I love his video and can’t wait for more!!!
@jana70985 жыл бұрын
Such a cool metaphor
@stacy__fakename5 жыл бұрын
Adding onto the color metaphor, near the end you can see that Dave is wearing a red hat (Ryan's color) and Ryan is carrying a green bag (Dave's color). It goes to show that they really aren't that different, and that they're looking out for each other through it all.
@severlst22935 жыл бұрын

My Favorite lyrics is: "Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time, Its time." 3:05 or the others.

Dave is the friend everyone needs rather than just wants in their life. You can lose friends, most of us do as we grow up, but if you only had him then it would be enough.
