My husband and i went to an unusual estate sale over 5 years ago, it was mostly board games. The sale was held by the family and we spoke with the daughter at length as she told us stories about her dad. He was an exec with Parker Brothers and every time a game was released top management was given a copy. The daughter and her brother were never at a loss for a game board to play. Every closet was stacked with games but we didnt recognize many of them. We found a Monopoly game in the office and i talked my husband into buying it. It's in a wooden box with metal latches on each side. On top is a gold metal plate with the Parker Brothers copyright info as well as brand in cursive writing. It has been played with but the daughter stressed that the games were well cared for and played with.

I just went to a holder's estate sale with hundreds of new games. I only picked up a 1960s Monopoly. I didn't think the others would be worth that much. I will be paying more attention now. Thanks Kat!

I'd love to know about selling game parts. I find random games and when most of it's destroyed, I save the parts. I think they're cool to look at. ❤

Hi Kat. I just went thru 3 totes of board games I had been ignoring for a few years. No winners but have sold some to make the effort worthwhile. Piecing out a Mouse Trap game and that was fun. Always enjoy all your videos but especially the research videos. Thanks again, Randy.

I went to look for another copy of the 1986 Fire Ball Island game (not to be confused with a more recent Fireball Island The Curse of Vul Kar…it is not even close to being as good as the original!!) & found it’s no longer made. I have the original one but my Daughter’s family wanted it since she & her hubby remember playing it when they were younger. You can imagine our shock when we found that used ones, complete, were selling for $650!! They are playing with my game & a whole new generation is enjoying it. I really wish they’d reissue the original game! It’s a gem.

@@linall2345 Kickstarter is HUGE in the tabletop hobby these days. Multi million dollar campaigns multiple times a year. But, I would not recommend just kick-starting any game on there without doing research. It's not uncommon for a 450 dollar game to come out and be received with a collective sigh, followed by a flood on the secondary market.

The monopoly luxury edition may be an anomaly because they are currently going way below (about max. $299 free shipping and less currently live on sale) than the Australian sale amount ($526)or perhaps more valuable in Australia?

Not much in that top, but if I do a little bit lower we might. I think the big thing with a lot of the older is they were so mass produced even though they're that old the supply is still pretty good so they don't bring much.

As a collector of over 600 board games you must be careful with the information you are giving out. While there is a 400 dollar version of Blood Rage there is also a 40 dollar version. A lot of the kickstarters are expensive because they just came out (Freedom Five) but will die off in popularity and the price nose dives. Will be around 100 dollars next year. Some grail games never depreciate in value (Glory to Rome: Black Box Edition, The Dark Tower 1980s version not the remake). Small World Collectors Ed and WotR Collectors Ed were small print runs with elaborate components.
@EasyForYouToSay.mp3Сағат бұрын
The people who kickstart games know the value of what they have. You will not find Thunder Road and its expansions at a yard sale or thrift store. Or glory to Rome, etc. Board Gamers are a pretty well informed bunch. Our games are expensive, so we research and read the rules and watch reviews before making purchases, and if we keep it in good condition, we know it hasnt usually dropped a whole lot in value. Youll have better luck with the monopoly variants, because board gamers do not play monopoly.

Some items that appear to be SOLD, actually aren't. You can see the listing is "ended." That does not mean sold. Also, there are definitely sales that are not for the amount listed but DO NOT HAVE THE LINE THROUGH THE PRICE. You can see this when you look at solds and also the product research history. Looking deeply you can see there can be more to the story. Sometimes, there are clearly two separate listings that appear to be "sold" but for different amounts. These are the promoted listings. Promoted listings results in DUPLICATE listings. However, only one of the listings reflects action taken. The other one is ended but does not give the accurate data of the item and any transaction of it. (Just one of the reason I hate promoted listings and the effect on the data). Not to discount your work and video. Board games are an interesting topic for sure and there are collectors! I have one I need to list and keep putting it off because I don't want to count and set it up!
