Rare and Disappearing Waterfalls! Gunlock State Park, only 2.5 hrs away!

Gunlock State Park is a state park in Utah, approximately 2.5 hours away from Las Vegas. It adjoins the 266-acre Gunlock Reservoir that impounds the Santa Clara River. The park is located approximately 15 miles northwest of St. George, UT. The reservoir dam was constructed in 1970 for irrigation water and flood control.
The park is a year-round destination with warm waters during summer and a mild winter climate. Visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming on the tranquil waters of Gunlock Reservoir. The park also offers a beach area for picnicking and sunbathing. For those who enjoy hiking, there are trails that lead to scenic overlooks of the reservoir and surrounding red rock cliffs. In the late spring, visitors can also see the cascading Gunlock Falls, although caution is advised as the rocks near the falls can be slippery.
The park is open year-round, with park hours from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. Boat ramps are open from May through Labor Day from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, September through October from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and November through March on weekends only from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
A day-use entry fee is required; purchase in-person or online. The Annual Utah State Park Pass is accepted for park entry. The park also offers a primitive campground with 5 sites. The campsites are equipped with a table, fire ring and grate, and have access to vault toilets. However, there is no potable or running water available, so visitors must bring their own. Reservations are not accepted for the campground.
